Nominate somebody for an SPJ honor

I’ve gotten several emails from The Society of Professional Journalists asking me to spread the word, so I’m happy to help just before the deadline tomorrow. See below. The “sunshine award” might be applicable to some skeptic websites, as might Historic Sites (Climate Audit comes to mind). Note that you have to download PDF forms and put them in US mail, postmarked no later than tomorrow.  – Anthony

Tomorrow, March 21, is the deadline to submit nominations for the National SPJ Honors. Recognize an educator, organization, professional — whomever you think deserves the acknowledgement.

Here are links to each honor description:

Distinguished Teaching in Journalism

Ethics in Journalism

Fellows of the Society

Historic Sites in Journalism

Sunshine Award

If you intend to send a nomination but haven’t done so yet, remember the deadline is tomorrow, Friday, March 21. Double check that your submission includes the required materials. If you have any questions contact us at awards@spj.org.

Thank you for helping us recognize journalism’s role models.

Sincerely,

The Society of Professional Journalists

Why is there not an “Ignoring the science about AGW” award?
Oh, of course, silly me, they all ignore the science so they would all qualify.

Journalism is a profession? So, what oath do you have to take to become one?

It appears you are missing a punctuation mark.
After the words “Ethics in Journalism”, shouldn’t there be a “?”

The only professional journalists I have any respect for these days all comment in the arena of motorcycle racing. I don’t think any of them qualify for the above awards and nor would they care to receive one. ( I’m a photojournalist )

Donna Laframboise is, without question, is an excellent journalist. She has dared to dig deep and show us factually the seamy side of the multi-billion dollar climate fear enterprise. She is remarkably good. Considering how few of her fellow jourmalists have dared to do the work she has done so well, she deserves at the least serious consideration for the Sunshine Award.

As Hunter says, Donna is such an exception that she stands out.
At first I was thinking of nominations for Presstitute of the Year.
The likes of Seth the Boring at AP, are shoe ins.

Are Professional Journalists trying to gin up some self-respect? If they succeed, it’ll still be the only respect they get.
