Congratulations to WUWT contributor Paul Homewood for getting press in East Anglia

Paul writes on his webpage:

The East Anglian Daily Times have published a special supplement this week on climate change, and I have managed to persuade them to include my article, presenting a slightly less alarmist point of view.

I would imagine the folks at UEA’s Climate Research unit are “having a cow” about right now. See the article:

Congratulations Paul. Quite a contrast to the facing piece by John Grant in the ‘We must do something now to save ourselves from total destruction via CO2’. Nothing but IPCC quotes, no data.

I’ll second that.
Paul’s article was a good choice since the record plays directly to the home crowd.

This is actually good journalism. A variety of views presented without unnecessary editorialisation denigrating the contributors.
And it does good to be allowed to actually present historical graphs instead of speculative charts.

I understand the UEA had to order an emergency supply of milkshakes due to the extraordinary number suddenly spilt at the climatic (sic) research unit.

No, it’s a ‘Flash’ application.
Well done Paul – nice to see a calm voice in the media for once. Surprised that they would print a calm assessment in that there is nothing that sells better than ‘disaster’.

The EADT rather laid into us when we had an anti-AGW motion at Suffolk County Council, so it’s good to see that there’s some balance this time.
The big disappointment in our day was not being allowed to show Fen Beagle’s Suffolkella and the Chihuahua of Doom — it’s on my Facebook page for those interested.

Thank you for publishing Region’s climate ‘benign and extremely stable’ by Paul Homewood this past Saturday 8 March 2014.
A calm and reasoned viewpoint on a topic that has been, for the last 25 years or more, a shrill public relations, propaganda laced, one sided diatribe is very refreshing.

Those would be Laurence Topham type banana peanut butter milkshakes. This being doubly interesting because both ingredients have to be imported to the Island at a great cost in carbon (sic).

Anthony,
Along the lines of acknowledging those who are are doing a great job of getting the true message out, you should be aware that a division of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) have picked up on WUWT posting by you and many others on your site and have included them in their regular News letter, which can be accessed at the URL below. With no credit to the messenger, I started sending some of WUWT posts to an ASME environmental committee chairman, who has inserted many of WWT posts in their Newsletter that gets circulated to many Engineers worldwide.
Congratulations for a great scientific product.

ASME is also soliciting feedback on how it should interact with the US Government in regards to it’s goals and is conducting a survey, see below.
I believe it is important to reset the button on the relationship of Professional societies with the Government and this is an opportunity to ASME members as well as others.
One can decide what the priorities of ASME should be and vote accordingly. This is a rare opportunity to be heard.
You do not have to be a member of ASME to vote.

This article is followed by another in which John Grant asserts the same old man-made global warming claptrap the climate hysterics have been screaming about for decades. He goes further, with a statement from Asher Minns of the Tyndall Center denying (now there’s a word) that global warming stopped nearly 20 years ago. “It could be that the heat is being redistributed in the oceans.” Evidence for this? It always comes back to the same old (failed) computer models.
You can tell him what you think about his assertions here: john.grant@archant.co.uk

Found the text at last.
Nice article. Cool, calm, collected and informative. Well done. Would be nice to see the responses and letters to this article.
I am in the middle of a battle with the BBC about their reporting of the Philippines cyclone. We have gone through three BBC departments already, and still no viable answer as yet. I will post to WUWT if anyone is interested, when I get a resolution.
.
And to all WUWTers – please do the same. It really shakes these people up, to get hundreds of complaints. In addition, many of these people really do not know the facts, because they have taken the Green lies and propaganda hook, line and sinker.
The BBC said that everyone knows that tropical cyclones are getting worse and more frequent. The Sunday Times said that everyone knows that electric vehicles have no emissions. They are truly shocked when you show them the real facts: their world is shattered and their self-confidence plummets when they are forced to publish retractions.
Imagine all that, times one hundred, or times one thousand. So get writing folks. Posts on WUWT are talking to the converted. Go out there and give your local paper hell. Give the national television hell. Give your parliamentarian hell. Write, write, and write again.
I have six outstanding letters i am chasing, just this month.

Sent in my letter:
To the editor,
Congratulation on having the integrity to include an alternate viewpoint to human-caused catastrophic climate change in your recent environmental supplement. I read the entire thing, and it was noticeable how many of the alarmist articles could present only forecasts, the output from computer models (which, contrary to what some would have us believe, are not data), and generally unsupported assertions about Things To Come.
Mr. Homewood’s article, however, used real observational data from the Met, along with historical facts, to make his case. He demonstrated convincingly that while the Earth has warmed up a bit since the 1800s, the weather has not become more severe — indeed, there’s no real evidence that CO2 has caused any of the warming at all. It’s just that the climate models are programmed to not show any warming unless the CO2 factor is included — while at the same time being completely unable to model water vapor and cloud formation in those models.
In the present, the alarmist camp is so disturbed by the lack of any real warming in the past decade and a half that they are reduced to making remarks like “The heat is hiding in the deep oceans,” as though it could somehow get there without warming anything else on the way. There’s a word for such hand-waving behavior, but that word is not “science.”

Kev Manning

No need for anyone to comment there since it is obvious you need to do a lot more reading here before writing anything more about “global warming” on your blog. There are plenty of well considered opinions here on every side of every aspect of “global warming”. You need to pick one aspect and one side and write about it.

Re: Climate – steady as she goes….
Dear Ed,
Congratulations on printing that wonderful article saying that weather and rainfall has remained pretty constant over the decades. Very balanced and very courageous of you.**
I have lost count of the number of TVs I have had to buy, after I had watched the BBC’s output on climate and thrown crockery at the previous TV. As your article has shown, the truth is nothing like the dramatic alarmism that the BBC and the Guardian broadcasts.
Well done.
Can I suggest you call the CRU at the university, and ask them to comment on this article, as I would like to know their response. And I would like to know how they justify their alarmism, given the undramatic data that this article has demonstrated.
Sincerely,
Silver

I totally agree with your approach. WUWT and Jo Nova are great places to find solid information that then needs to be sent to the ignorant media. I am often surprised by the response particularly if one addresses the reporter directly. A local radio announcer has given up on climate related horror stories since I email him with the facts. I then show them where to look for real data. I am having trouble with a local TV weatherman because the station make it all but impossible to contact them with a complaint. They then ignore the letter and fail to reply. I did say letter as in snail mail. No email address.

Panem et circenses.ā€
Having read Paul Holmewood’s excellent article, it seems there is only one question to put to those who used the other seven pages of the supplement to promote their global warming scams using weasel words such as climate chaos or climate change (when has the climate not changed?). That question is: What is the perfect temperature for the planet?
I doubt they have the answer. After all, to paraphrase QI, nobody knows.
Cordially.
