I thought your post on the hilarious iHeartClimateScientists poster was worth a cartoon.

Their Facebook page is awash with woo too.

We need to start looking at the statistics regarding the makeup of climate scientists. \
Their politics, age, country, when they got their doctorates etc. Why? Because I believe that the bogus 98% consensus claim will be further diminished when you look more closely at the political motivations and other characteristics of climate scientists. I haven’t gone too deep into it, and would definitely appreciate any links or help in making my point, but my impression is that circa 1990 a whole ton of money starting flowing into climate science, into institution building and in endowing climate scientist professorships all over the world. These $ were allocated to study and promote awareness and action on AGW, not to study whether or not AGW was actually real. So if they say “98% of climate scientists” think something, if they are mostly post 1990 climatologists, then they have been pre-selected for their acceptance of the warmist science and politics. So, that’s not good.
If anyone has any links or ideas on how to further what I’m saying about climatologist bias, please add them here. Thanks!

Eric, who cares?
Give them another few years of static/declining temps and it’ll be a dead duck, with a lot of very grumpy politicians looking for scapegoats.

I note that my contributions to their little love-in have been removed, (Maldives building airport, snow in Cairo) as have my ability to post anything.
They don’t like it up-em!

Unfortunately, it will never go away; the alarm heads will just bide their time until they can dust it off and bring it out again.

The Knights Templar were, of course, all arrested and imprisoned on Friday 13th 1307. Which is why it is ‘unlucky for some….’.

At first I would tend to agree, but in a moment of perhaps overconfidence because all the snow in Cairo and etc etc we can’t let up on the fight, as after another Sandy or heat wave with the MSM constantly pitching the AGW meme, in a NY Minute, we can be back down and looking at a cap & trade or what not. Coal plants are already being closed down all over the place and national fortunes are being squandered on ugly windmills because of AGW. We got to start building a margin of victory so that anti-AGW politicians are more likely to win elections.
Further, once, and assuming they do, the AGWers lose, we need to go after them and further discredit them, to make it less likely that they will be some hydra-head (my mythology weak, hoping that one fits!) that rises with another scam. Yes, for all we know, it would be global cooling that they and the MSM start pushing to get… co2 cut backs and de-industrialization. If we are winning, we need to run up the score why we can!
And if we can fully repudiate the “98% consensus” point they always make, then that a huge plus for us!

Mankind has far more pressing problems than tilting at the weather, like; sanitation, clean water, food and shelter and the resultant diseases such appalling conditions cause, and NO, I don’t mean more drug research.
Get a life CAGW camp followers and put your education into something that will actually improve things for humanity.

Eric,
Maybe you are new to this, you wont dislodge the 97% thing, its been debunked already 10 times over but still persist because it’s a “Message” and the left have this thing about messages, instead of course doing anything.
In the USA there needs to be a revellation among the public that “climate action” is bad, very bad. At the moment the view is lowering pollution (CO2) couldn’t be a bad thing, the sacrifice is small and we might just “save the planet”. It’s a seductive message but when you point out the human cost and show that wasting that much money, on nothing at all instead of the best, most advantageous uses. People come around, Climate Change is being used as a moral truncheon, you must be a heartless b…. think of the children… To counter a moral argument, you need a moral argument. It’s a religion folks, a cult, you won’t deprogram people using logic or science.
Take a lesson fron Australia, John Howard lost because he lied/lies, Kev lost, because he was knifed, and Julia lost because she lied too (CONSTANTLY). Australians hate being lied to, we like our politicians not to lie and cheat us, or sell us out to minorities. You had a chance to clear the lies from the whitehouse, but the USA failed to grasp it. Racism played its part, but perhaps America is still believing the spin, or doesn’t mind being lied to.
Australia rids itself of liers, regardless of the politics, I can’t see why the USA doesn’t.

Josh, congrats. When confronted with abject nonsense masquerading as pseudoscience, the best response is to laugh.
Now among the Papau New Guinea cannibals referenced by Feynman in his famous ‘Cargo Cult’ Cal tech commencement address on how not to fool yourself, mocking laighter could have gotten you cooked for dinner. In the climate wars, it can only get you ‘cooked’ on SkS. More fun.
Please continue to skewer. hilarious, and better than any serious science response to ‘nonscience’ nonsense.
Woooooo!

I agree with everything you say, and yes the super high cost of the ~ 83% CO2 cuts that the warmists want are extreme, and the people don’t know that. My point about the 97% consensus is to keep attacking it as much as we can because it is their main argument. Indeed, I would like to not just suggest something like “the consensus is really only like 75%” or something like that, but undermine the whole number, to say that it might as well be 0% because the climatologists queried are unwaveringly pre-biased toward the warmist position… in “science” and ideology. I’m just wondering if anybody add any information to support my contention, so we can better make that argument.

i believe it is intended to mean — I love climate science.
The play is that what the (Mannlike) toon really loves is scaring people. His climate science consists of nothing but scaring people. The toon could have been drawn to look more like Hansen whose entire climate career has been about nothing but doing that — scaring people — but how many people know what Hansen looks like? Mann has certainly become the recognizable poster child for bad climate science so Josh did right.
For some reason I think this (I love —) is a play off a line out of a movie but i can’t put my finger on it.

My oversight. I should’ve started with, “Brilliant rendition of Anthony’s post!”.
If you do add a hockey chain stick don’t forget the dreaded pputt-putt sound of the stick fired up, emitting killer CO2. 🙂

Possibly. We do not know for sure.
But the Urban Legend reference is wrong on many points. Firstly the arrest of the Templars was the biggest event of the age – rather akin to the modern Italian government arresting everyone in the Vatican and imprisoning the Pope. Secondly, I was taught this in Lodge, with a history that goes back far further than the 19th century.
