An urgent message from Santa
These green people never seem to learn. A couple of years ago it was nutball David Suzuki and his fundraising drive to “save” Santa’s home from melting:
Now, not to be outdone in the “please send money cuz Santa’s home is dying” meme, Greenpeace has produced a video that looks like a cross between the Blair Witch Project and Doomsday Preppers. Only one problem: it is so stupid even CNN is mocking it. Watch:
CNN has this story from Jeanne Moos that rips into Greenpeace for this video.
Moos characterizes the alarmists at Greenpeace and elsewhere as folks who “believe in global warming.” Their tendency to embrace human-caused climate doomsday scenarios (like Bad Santa hiding from climate change in the bunker) is akin to a religious belief, unaffected by the reality of observations and data.
In the CNN video, Moos quoted a commenter at the YouTube post of the Greenpeace video who wrote:
Hope that you are proud of yourselves green piece (sic) for scaring innocent children with your bully boy tactics as usual.
That’s right. CNN cited a critic of Greenpeace in its story. That represents amazing progress for truth (if not grammar) in MSM coverage of the climate issue.
Here’s another taste of Moos’ CNN-approved mockery of Greenpeace and what she said was a “sorry excuse for a Santa”:
It looks like a hostage video, but instead of Al Qaida, it’s Santa.

The kicker: When you put an email address into the website that Greenpeace is pitching in the video http://www.savesantashome.org/ it immediately becomes like the Obamacare website, asking for more personal information:
I wouldn’t wish being stuck in Greenpeace’s marketing database on my worst enemy.

When the AMO heads to cool phase(not as warm now then in past 5 years)the Ice will become just like it was in 1979 when satellite ice data started. Around 1979 was a peak in the ice while the AMO was at bottom of cycle.
You can clearly see also that in the 1950’s was another peak in the AMO. Arctic was ice free then and photos of military submarines at the North Pole have shown that.

Greenpeace can’t even get their basic facts right. Every European child knows that Santa lives in Lapland, along with the reindeer. Actually, scratch that, every human over the age of 8 knows that Santa is a myth, just like AGW.
The truly stunning fact is that someone with authority at Greenpeace thought that this video was a good idea. Yes, I admit that it is not quite as bad as the 10:10 video, but really… they think a Santa Claus advert is going to convince people of CAGW?!!
I am gobsmacked.
Apparently even Greenpeace considers their Santa website to be PG13 (parental guidance for children under 13), unsuitable for children. Here is the clause posted under their Privacy Provisions.
“NB Parents should be aware that owing to the nature of our investigations, images posted on the Greenpeace UK website may be considered unsuitable for children under the age of 13 (eg photographs of dead or dying animals).”
I guess burying that clause gives them some plausible deniability against nay-sayers. “Well, we warned you, didn’t we?”

Something very interesting going on in the Arctic, Temps are tracking exactly above 80 N with what the sunspot activity has been doing with spikes and dips.. I have been tracking this for past couple of months.

I also commented on the Youtube discussion thread, I take issue with them targeting children, my kids (2 & 6) would be terrified if they saw this. I drew a fair amount of flack for commenting, this response where the tarheting of children is apprently justified shows the level the greens have stooped to.

Yes indeed Jim Carter of Downton Abbey and Greenpeace. He appeared last Sunday on the Andrew Marr show (BBC) along with Shami Chakrabarti another Greepeace supporter (normal BBC balance). The video was shown and greatly appreciated. Turned off after that couldn’t bear any more especially as they then started on about the Greenpeace lot locked up in Russia.
Because of Greenpeace there will be no more chimneys for Santa to deliver the toys and some children will go without 🙂

People who believe in CAGW only care about two things: Money and Fame. That’s it. They couldn’t care less about kids and the future generations. Watching the Arctic sea ice page I noticed that recently there was a weird dip, I say weird because there doesn’t appear to be anything like it in the previous years and without it the picture would probably be a lot different.
Can anyone enlighten me?

The fact that ‘Santa’ does not actually exist, he is not an actual living person and so he cannot “live” anywhere except in the imagination of an infant must have escaped the limited intellect of the Greenpeace collective. At least its not a pro public execution video like the 10.10 video portraying the public murder of sceptical men women and children, but it highlights the true nature of international green perfectly.

Haven’t we spend the last five years arguing that there is not such thing as “normal”? It seems a bit disingenuous to now claim it is normal when the number are swinging the other way.
I do not know what Santa you are talking about. Our Santa lives in Spain or actually in Turkey. He has a number of black knights around him. This became recently a reason for the UN to correct the Netherlands because of intolerable discrimination of black people. The UN officials had even the small details wrong because these knights have a strange soot colour. We could have told them that they get this colour when they descend through our chimneys in order to deliver presents to the children.
Rate of melting has slowed already. Largely due to Suzuki’s efforts to save Santa last year, no doubt. 😉

I call on the US Government to pass a bill immediately for $50 million to install wind turbines to power Santa Claus’ home and factory. But while we’re at it we’ll need another $50 million for the icebreaker to get supplies to him because its NOT open water, and another $30 million to clear the new wind turbines that get ground up in all the sea ice, then $100 million for research to figure out how to avoid this in the future.

Does anyone have a good, direct link to terra or aqua images of the Arctic? I used t have a few which took a long time to find, before my hard drive died. I’ve been watching the sea ice growth and I’m interested in checking more closely on whether I can visit Santa this Christmas by walking from Iceland. 🙂
It’s certainly looking close on the various maps on the Sea Ice Page and significantly more likely than any time since I started watching 5 years ago. BTW, when was the last time the Arctic sea ice leg that runs down the eastern coast of Greenland extended all the way to Iceland?

I would guess that Greenpeace had this as work in progress expecting a bigger melt than last year. Money committed must be used even if it makes them look foolish. Given their other campaigns and the general outlook of the religion one might have thought that ’empty stockings at xmas’ would be top of their ‘most desired’ list.
Sustainable stockings and all that. Ironic that they are attempting to use the threat of a ‘disruption to Xmas consumerism’ in order to promote the cause. I think the “weird dip” you refer to was caused by some big gales in the arctic smashing up a lot of “baby ice” in the Barents and Kara Seas. The ice was forming early and swiftly (though not “unprecedented,”) but was only six inches to a couple feet thick over a large area. That created a surge in the extent graph. However the ice allows air a two meters to drop down to as low as minus-thirty, while the air over the open water and is around zero to minus-five, and the contrast can generate some big gales along the edges of the ice. One big sub 960 mb gale smashed up all that thin ice, and piled it up, and blew it eastward north of Svalbard and then flushed it south through Fram Strait, which went from below-normal extent to above-normal extent even as the ice-extent of the Kara and Barents Seas was reduced. The down-tick of the graph was the reflection of that event.
By the way, having no ice in the Barents Sea cools the tendrils of warm AMO water entering the arctic, and in my opinion is likely to make the Arctic Ocean as a whole be colder. In other words, less ice in that part of the arctic now means more ice elsewhere next summer.
I’ve been having a blast watching the arctic, with help from Anthony’s wonderful “Sea Ice Page,” for years now. If you watch you learn, even if you aren’t particularly scientific, and once you know about the arctic then the video this post is about appears extremely dishonest, as well as cruel to children. The creators should be ashamed of themselves.
One thing I’m watching carefully this winter is the slight, once-every-hundred-year chance there could be a sort of ice jam in Denmark Strait, due to the storms over Barents Sea causing so much extra baby-ice to flow down through Fram Strait. Yup. I just don’t get it. Here’s someone who can make reindeer fly at Mach 6 while pulling a sleigh — and yet he does not know any better than to build a domicile on transient, drifting, pack ice. It sort of makes that guy who built a house on sand look like a genius.
Well, us little kids aren’t so dumb. Two can play at THIS game.
Watch out for that ice, heh. It’s real. You might slip.

The adults are waking up to them, so they have to target the kids. They always did, of course, but now the kids are their only chance at a future (for Greenpeace, that is).
If it’s good enough for Superman’s Fortress of Solitude, then it should be good enough for imaginary characters like “Santa Claus.”

S. has the phrase “Social Security” defined to mean something, it does not mean ‘social security’ in the common sense of those words, various governments, the WMO, and others have defined weather data using the term “normal.” I don’t like the term “youth” because I learned the combination “youth, maturity, and old age” many years ago. Back then, “gay” meant a happy kid, not a happy youth, and not what it means now. But, some will say I’m not normal.
Dreamworks “The Rise of the Guardians” has an unforgettable Santa. He is a big Russian with dark eyebrows – and “Naughty” and “Nice” tattoos on either arm. He sometimes “wipes the sleight clean” for those who have been naughty.
The wonder, awe, and fun of childhood represented by Santa, Easter Bunny (an irascible Aussie), the Tooth Fairy, and Jack Frost are under threat because of the Bogey man with his NIght Mares. Great film and outrageous animation. May be a a good time to see it with the “little ankle bitahs,” as Easter Bunny calls them.

Lorne, where would you go to see auroras? Aren’t they a display of solar energy directed to the poles by Earth’s magnetic field?

This is a sad video. I always understood Christmas to be about celebrating the birth of Christ, not about Santa. Why would Santa need snow and ice anyway. I think that in the spirit of Christmas Santa would always rise to the occasion, whether he’s living in an ice cave or a mud hut. This video leaves the impression that Santa’s a whiner and a quitter. If so then he should retire and give the job to somebody that is up to the challenge.

Don’t worry, I heard on good authority that Santa never actually lived at the North Pole! It isn’t a physical place (Just a position on a map) in the middle of the Arctic ocean. It makes sense that you wouldn’t want your factory to keep drifting away. No, he is based in the South Pole, where his factory is built on rock and there is more ice today than ever before!
There is nothing normal about four years of sea ice that is almost always at least one standard deviation below normal.
