This is an idea I’ve had for awhile, so I’m going to try it and see how it goes with reader interest. The “Hot Sheet” is a collection of snippets, links, and notes that I can’t write full posts about. Basically a “what’s hot” elsewhere. My goal is to do one of these a day during weekdays, each evening, and also to give a shout out to others in the climate community pro and con that have interesting things to say. ICECAP: EPA and the Supreme Court – why the EPA needs to be stopped

In the process leading up to the EPA Endangerment Finding approval, I filed numerous comments that went into the record though they did not move the EPA off their position. Then worked with a great team of top leaders, scientists and lawyers on a science based Amicus brief to the DC Circuit Court. The liberal DC Circuit Court found in favor of the EPA but a minority opinion opened the door for a Cert petition to the Supreme Court (SCOTUS_ to review the DC court decision. The DC Circuit Court blocked the submission of the EPA’s own Inspector General’s report to the EPA chiding them for not doing its own scientific evaluation as required by the Information Quality Act.
Our top notch team of lawyers repackaged the arguments in an Amicus Brief to the SCOTUS, one of 9 such briefs. The Raw Story reports:
More than 1,700 American cities and towns – including Boston, New York, and Miami – will have significant populations living below the high-water mark by the end of this century, a new climate change study has found.
Those 1,700 towns are locked into a watery future by greenhouse gas emissions already built up in the atmosphere, the analysis published in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences on Monday found. For nearly 80 of those cities, the watery future would come much sooner, within the next decade.
“Even if we could just stop global emissions tomorrow on a dime, Fort Lauderdale, Miami Gardens, Hoboken, New Jersey will be under sea level,” said Benjamin Strauss, a researcher at Climate Central, and author of the paper. But dramatic cuts in emissions – much greater than Barack Obama and other world leaders have so far agreed – could save nearly 1,000 of those towns, by averting the sea-level rise, the study fund.

Had a good laugh on the Climate Reality Project report. 1500 people all traveling to Chicago…I assume they’ll all be walking to keep their carbon foot print at a minimum. Yeah, right!
Why not have everybody write short posts on Tips and Posts and have the staff transfer the most interesting ones to the Hot Sheets list on the front.

That way you draw in the idiots. Don’t give the detail away until the very end of the article, and then only very subtly, so folks are struggling with where to put it all. You might ever leave out the date altogether, then the next day print the date on it.

OK, I really like the first issue of the Hot Sheet. It puts together topical events into an eminently readable and succinct format. I imagine recent developments have drawn many new viewers to WUWT and I think there is no better way to introduce these new readers to the reasonable tone of this website. Well done indeed Mr. Watts.
Good move. I used to trawl through Tips & Notes regularly looking for links like these, and putting them “up front” will help more people see then. Might be a nice idea if they could then be filed separately from other articles – say, a “Propaganda Pages” section next to the “Reference Pages”.

Looks like a very good idea to me – sort of a digest so that you can get your teeth into things that interest you and easily skip past those that don’t.
I love the idea. As summer vacation comes to a close here in the US and students and teachers have to go back to work you have come up with a service that allows a quick perusal of “the good stuff” that one can read in a few minutes.
I just hope you have the time to keep this up.

I haven’t run the A/C all week, matter of fact I haven’t had the a.c. running all summer yet here in OKC but an hour or so some afternoons and in late July here that IS quite unusual. Where did all of the very normal 104°F’s and 85 at night go to? Much like nature decide to smear some egg in the faces of the like of Gore that made such a big deal of one single hour last summer at this same time, end of July, when it just touched 111°F but you hear nary of what is happening this “summer”… still waiting for it but actually enjoying cool drizzly days.
It would be nice to have a table of contents at the start of the Hot Sheet. Maybe also an HR between items.
The reason people who like free markets don’t want a carbon market is that a carbon market is idiotic.

The amicus curiae brief not only amply proves the falsity of the EPA’s case, but is highly illustrative of the anti-scientific methods of the alarmists – and of their unconcern for the truth, their tyrannical mindset and their fundamental amorality.
