Bill McKibben is not what he seems to be – I catch him in a lie

Bill McKibben, by Jennifer Esperanza

While Bill McKibben tries to portray himself as just a concerned citizen out to change the world due to his fears of global warming, by running a “grassroots organization”, the reality is he’s quite well funded by the rich, as this investigation reveals.

From the Financial Post:

Nothing influences President Barack Obama’s decision on the Keystone XL pipeline quite like the protests against it, led by Bill McKibben, an American environmentalist, and his organization, called 350.org. On Wednesday, 350.org and the Sierra Club participated in an anti-Keystone protest at the White House and this Sunday they are holding another one on Capital Hill. They expect 20,000 people from across the United States.

350.org has the look and feel of an amateur, grassroots operation, but in reality, it is a multi-million dollar campaign run by staff earning six-digit salaries.

More than half of the US$10-million came from the Rockefeller Brothers Fund (RBF), the Rockefeller Family Fund and the Schumann Center for Media and Democracy, where McKibben, a trustee, was paid US$25,000 per year (2001-09). Since 2007, the Rockefellers have paid US$4-million towards 1Sky and 350.org, tax returns say. The Schumann Center provided US$1.5-million to McKibben’s three campaigns as well as US$2.7-million to fund the Environmental Journalism Program at Middlebury College, in Vermont, where McKibben is on staff.

Full story here: http://opinion.financialpost.com/2013/02/14/rockefellers-behind-scruffy-little-outfit/

===============================================================

From above:

…the Schumann Center for Media and Democracy, where McKibben, a trustee, was paid US$25,000 per year (2001-09).

Wikipedia’s surprisingly light entry describes it as:

The Schumann Center for Media and Democracy (formerly The Florence and John J. Schumann Jr. Foundation) was established in 1961, by Florence Ford and John J.Schumann Jr. The foundation states that its purpose is to renew the democratic process through cooperative acts of citizenship, especially as they apply to governance and the environment.

That last sentence is all over the web as being in their mission statement.

Doing my own checking to see if they funded 350.org, I see they did.:

22-6044214_schuman_350org

Source: https://bulk.resource.org/irs.gov/eo/2012_09_PF/22-6044214_990PF_201112.pdf

Checking other IRS documents I note the one for 2008:

Click to access 22-6044214_990PF_200812.pdf

They state quite a bit of money for Environmental causes:

Schuman_environment_IRS

It seems clear to me by their mission statement and IRS filing that they are an “environmental” organization.

And doing further checking to see if in fact this funder of environmental causes paid McKibben, I find that to be true:

Schuman_McKibben_trustee_IRS

The amount of money he was paid isn’t much, and certainly nothing to get too worked up about, I wouldn’t have given it much thought by itself. Note also Bill Moyers of PBS, no wonder he is so biased, he’s a paid to represent and direct an environmental organization. Surely, this must be a conflict of interest? Or maybe it is just business as usual with PBS? The amount of screaming about my appearance on PBS last year makes more sense now.

But, even though the amount of compensation McKibben received is small. I have to wonder why Bill took exception to being called a “paid political activist” in this WUWT post and went to the trouble to email me a statement that he’s an “unpaid political activist” and never took any money from “any other environmental group”?

Here is his email to me the same day as the WUWT post about him:

McKIbben_email

I took him at his word then, and made a change to the post, but now, clearly, he has told me a lie.

I’m sure from his interpretation of facts, he doesn’t think so, but that’s an ongoing problem with Bill, as his interpretation of facts about global warming are a self distortion to suit his purposes. It’s a typical case of noble cause corruption that blinds him to his own lies.

The Rockefellers, eh?
Bill McKibben/350.org, paid by “BIG OIL” to spread their lies to the public… sound familiar to anyone else?

Gene Selkov

His statement may have been statistically correct. A penny, or 2,500,000 pennies — who cares? It is below noise level for anybody as important. The truth is probably bigger than this little lie by an order of magnitude.

When I saw the nasme Bill Moyers on the above documents I thought it was a coincidental name. Yikes. Surely he states his bias on any of the work he does? If not this would be a huge scandal were there not so many like-minded believers.

It is amusing to learn that those who scream that skeptics are all funded by “Big Oil” are guilty of that which they accuse there perceived adversaries. The current generation of Rockefellers are themselves the recipients of the largess created by their ancestor John D. Rockefeller, who was the founder CEO, Chairman of the Board and majority shareholder of Standard Oil. Sure sounds like Big Oil money to me.

How many little, $25,000 dollar envelopes does it take to buy the right “facts”?

Louis Hooffstetter

Also note the two donations to “media” of $1.5 and $3.4 million dollars.
While listening to PBS, how many times have you heard “Made possible by a grant from the Florence and John J. Schumann Jr. Foundation”?
Both Moyers and PBS are clearly tainted.

$635 for expenses seems suspiciously low. If 350 dot org is paying for his travel and accommodations it isn’t being reported correctly.

Doesn’t mean we should trust them though.

Can we conclude then that the Rockefellers have no financial interest in the Keystone project but indeed have all the incentive to see it halted?

The left are adept liars. One of the financial contributors listed is Institute for Local Self-Reliance. Self reliance is certainly not something the left promulgates; they want the populace beholden to and reliant upon government.
Betcha the title of that organisation is as truthful as Orwell’s Ministry of Truth. Feh!

Always wondered how “grassroots” protests could afford the elaborate displays that are used to vilify those things that they disagree with. When they were marching around carrying the faux pipeline, my first thought was “that doesn’t look cheap”. I wondered if Daryl Hannah paid for it herself. But then – the “dedicated” environmentalists probably held bake sales and garage sales to scrape up the pennies. There appear to be no limits to the streatching of the truth.

If you go back to the early days of all this, you see a Rockefeller man in the United Nations, Maurice Strong, starting the IPCC. He has since fled to China because he got caught siphoning off profits from Iraqui Oil revenue when they were under sanctions.
You have to wonder if Big Oil is driving this issue, because their biggest opponent to cheap energy is Coal.

Vivian Krause .. The Girl Who Played with Tax Data … Her focus, funding, differs from M&M but she has had a powerful impact and stands with them as deliberately ignored giants in the fight for honest debate.
Exposing Suzuki, her Parliamentary testimony, investigations and audits into how charities are behaving in their political involvement vis a vis the laws on such. Exposing the pipelines (pun intended) of billionaire foundation money being funneled into Canada to make energy infrastructure development as hard as it is here as it is south of the border.
I have little doubt that it also doubles to benefit certain places, people and causes. Like Illinois industry, in Barry and Rahm’s, stomping grounds having to take on that dirty (why, as dirty as Cali oil), stranded Canadian oil for $40 off the market price or whatnot.
Vivian Krause carries the torch. She showed us a whole other, uglier, Canada-US relationship that like it or not is part of the reality and that knowledge is power. Hats off to Financial Post for bringing her to broad public attention in Canada and WUWT extending it to beyond.

In addition to individual contributions, 350.org’s work was supported by the following foundations in Fiscal Year 2011:

The Overbrook Foundation
Rockefeller Brothers Fund
Rockefeller Family Fund
Schumann Media Center
Swift Foundation
V. Kann Rasmussen Foundation
William B. Wiener, Jr. Foundation
Working Assets/CREDO Fund of the Tides Foundation
That last one from Tides Foundation is a biggie. Tides was created to allow large individual donors and foundations to “launder” donations. Lets say you want to donate to 350.org but having your name appear directly on their donor list might cause some trouble because you want to be viewed as neutral on the issue and don’t want to appear to have any stake in that particular issue. What you do is make a donation to Tides and earmark your donation to 350.org. What Tides then does is bundles up your donation along with others who have also earmarked theirs and maybe tosses in some of their own general fund money and makes a donation to 350.org. 350 shows a donation from Tides but the donation is not the same amount and is not at the same time as your donation to Tides. Tides shows your donation but are not required to show how you “earmarked” it.
Now dig into this link:
http://theartofannihilation.com/rockefellers-1sky-unveils-the-new-350-org-more-more-delusion/
And notice this: ” The 1Sky communications strategy was created by Fenton Communications, the nation’s ‘foremost media/communications firm’ for the non-profit industrial complex. ” Now we start to see the “usual suspects” … Fenton Communications is generally not far removed from “grass roots” organizations with big money backing, particularly when you see Tides Foundation involved.
Look at who is a “Guest Trainer” for “Green Corps”:
http://www.greencorps.org/field-school-for-environmental-organizing/classroom-training/principal-faculty
Notice this page: http://www.1sky.org/about/donors
Find Fenton under “Pro Bono Donors” and notice in the upper right corner the notice of: “Find out more about this exciting 1Sky/350.org merger and how you can stay involved with the climate movement at 350.org.”
There’s a link to this video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=uicQHGVQYw8
You have to now look at the money from 1Sky in addition to 350.org … they are now the same organization in reality but will use different names when it suits them.
Fenton Communications pioneered the use of creating several different names for what amounts to a single organization. You create a national organization that is based around an issue. You give each small cell a different name. That gives the impression that several different “grass roots” organizations are all different and sprung up independently. It gives the impression that their stance on an issue has more popular support than it actually does.
This is all smoke and mirrors, people. It is all part of the massive “progressive” public relations illusion.

If the Keystone XL pipeline ever gets built and begins to bring cheap oil from the Canadian tar sands down to U.S. markets, the price of oil will drop here. Are some of those protestors perhaps flying a false flag to support the income from their U.S. oil production? Keep gasoline above $3.50/gal instead of having it drop to maybe $2.50/gal? Stop the pipeline that can bring competion with plenty of cheaper oil?

Another thing you have to be aware of is how they launder larger salaries by breaking it up and paying smaller amounts from several different organizations that are basically really all the same overall organization (in effect, if not in name). So Joe Blow might get a $25,000 salary from five different “grass roots” organizations that are really all managed by the same people and directed by the same PR agency and funded by the same sources. Notice the overlap you see in the names in directors from one organization to another. Imagine you worked for a large company but every single plant / office of that company operated under a different name. This is basically what goes on in that arena. It is sort of like the old “trusts” and how companies used to operate in the 19th century.

Note also Bill Moyers of PBS, no wonder he is so biased, he’s a paid to represent and direct an environmental organization.

That ain’t the half of it.
Bill Moyers is president of the (Florence and John) Schumann Center for Media and Democracy who fund organisations such as Media Matters for America.
Moyers employed his son-in-law John Passacantando at the Schumann Foundation and assigned him the task of “a grass-roots renewal of democracy”.
Passacantando went on to co-found and direct Ozone Action, which merged with Greenpeace in 2000. Passacantando then became executive director of Greenpeace USA.

The “Tides Foundation” as a money-laundering entity to fund leftwing groups, makes one wonder what all money goes into there. Since the Fed is creating money from thin air, surely some of it gets channeled over to Tides etc. I fear that there is a huge money-creating-and-funnelling network which explains all the left’s money, leaving us to blink as deer in headlights.

I can see vigilance in safeguarding the environment, but this CO2 stuff is really a virulently anti-American program that originated in the EU. They wanted to make a USE to compete with USA and they even have guys like Soros, and other financial misanthropes that have been supporting a totally unwarranted Euro-US exchange rate. Having essentially failed to compete economically right from the start, they have engendered ways to simply ruin economies and the economic basis for society. How can a nearly bankrupt and shaky union like the highly socialized, deeply indebted, irredemable EU have over a 30% premium on the USD. Hey, I know the buck is in trouble but even UK is talking about abandoning the EU. Shame on these organizations – particularly the duped US-based ones – who are using whatever might work to destroy the economic engine of the world along with scientific endeavor. The future of the world economy and the integrity of science seems to rest on the outcome of a conservative-liberal/socialist battle. Com’on you liberals that aren’t fooled, don’t let conservatives be the only saviors of prosperity and science.

He might not have accepted the money personally.

Mr. McKibben is just as free as you are to respond right here in public, Russ. Your idea that he is somehow not being allowed to respond is … well … let me just call it ungrounded in reality.
And “he might not have accepted the money personally”? Say what? You mean they handed it to his wife or something? The organization says the $25K was paid to a man named Bill McKibben … how is that not giving money to Bill McKibben, even if his wife did pick up his check.

Seems that Keystone XL is causing the president some heartache, though.

There might be some quid pro quo going on here.
1. The state department must approve the pipeline because it crosses the border with Canada. Currently the oil is being carried by Burlington Northern Railroad which is owned by Warren Buffett. Buffett makes money as long as there is no pipeline.
2. Secretary of State is John Kerry.
3. John Kerry is married to Teresa Heinz, heiress to the Heinz food empire. John and Teresa made a considerable amount of money this week when Warren Buffett bought Heinz. John made about $670K just yesterday on that deal. We don’t know how much his wife made as she is not required to disclose her holdings as she is not a government official.
4. Do you *really* believe John Kerry is going to make any sort of ruling that is going to potentially harm Warren Buffett’s revenue stream at this point?

I suppose that McKibben (and Moyers) would claim that they are paid to administer a foundation, with McKibben then doing his activism for free. This would probably be technically true, although it also contributes to giving McKibben enough of an income, and enough free time, to do his activism.
I’m not sure whether it’s a good idea to have people’s home addresses posted, even though McKibben’s is just a PO box.

It is my personal opinion that this entire “industry” should be deeply investigated for money laundering, racketeering, and anti-trust violations. What we actually have are what amounts to a series of cutout organizations. Ok, so imagine you are a director of GM and take a low salary of $25,000 from them. Now imagine each plant operates as a separate business identity and that you are also a “director” of each of those and collect a $25,000 salary from each of those. You are making a decent salary. Now imagine each plant also gets “revenue” but because each one operates as a separate unit, it becomes very difficult to add up what the total revenue of GM really is or where it really comes from. And they will all swear up and down that they are separate business entities. But you will find two things that are in common with all of them: 1. Tides Foundation and 2. Fenton Communications Tides is the money and Fenton is the “invisible hand” that coordinates the activities across the entire front of operations. They are doing the same thing for the Keystone Pipeline issue that they did, for example, on the war in Iraq issue. Veterans for Peace, Win Without Wars, Cindy Sheehan, Code Pink, MoveOn, etc. all had the same thing in common: Fenton Communications.

Willis is right–McKibben got the money (or he’d report it as stollen). Generally, whatever name is shown on the donations sheet is the name the cheques are made out to. William McKibben would at least have to put them in a bank account in that very name (even if he signs it “For Deposit Only”) or else he personally signs them for “cash” and takes it that way.
There’s the possibility he destroyed the cheques to maintain his noble sense of detached purity but I seriously doubt it (the donors couldn’t then claim it as deductions for IRS purposes).
McKibben is duplicitous like most other members of the Catastrophic Anthropogenic Genocidal Warmista crowd and just as guilty.

This is wonderful seeing the sunshine peaking into the darkest corners of the left-wing progressive tyrants. These folks are as crooked as they come and I mean the lot of them. If they have a D next to their name I guarantee they are crooked and if they have an R next to their name the odds are probably half as good.
Every time you hear a lefty accusing someone else of engaging in some nefarious act, I can nearly guarantee that they themselves are engaged in the exact same activity and probably to a greater degree. It’s called misdirection and politicians and scam artists use it artfully (please note the only difference between scam artists and politicians is generally speaking, title and prison time- oh, and schools monuments and bridges that have been named after themselves).
When you start peeling back the layers of deceit as Crosspatch has pointed out, you start to discover the connections between them and realize while they are separate entities they are all engaged in facets of the same huge plan with the same goals being a Northstar for their multi-pronged attack. The Islamic groups all work this way as well. While they pose as separate entities, in reality they are all interconnected by goals and the people that run them, ex Al Qaeda is a single facet with the same long term goal as The Muslim Brotherhood and CAIR. They are simply engaging in different strategic and tactical methods in pursuit of the same long term goals.
Slightly OT but semi-related:
I am curious if anyone is aware of this type of investigation into Josh Fox and his Gasland crapumentary assault on fracking? The Phelim McAleer (sp?) documentary Fracknation exposes the horrid non-sense and fraud that Mr. Fox engaged in very well, but I am curious about the funding connections and other relationships to these types of org’s.

THANK YOU for this link. I knew nothing about her. When you combine this with knowledge of what a foundation is in the USA, what a picture.
I don’t know about Canada, but in the US (info a few years old, don’t know if changed), a foundation need only spend 10% of it’s initial capital, then 10% of annual income on its topic.
The remaining 90% can be spent by the foundation ‘owners’ on travel, food, residences, offices, whatever it determines is essential for its ‘operation’, like a private jet.
In effect, US foundations can be personal governments that expend largesse to their pet projects with a sleight-of-hand stipend of 10% to the host government. Remember the trouble the head of the Susan G. Komen for the Cure foundation, Nancy G. Brinker, got into after shutting off grants to Planned Parenthood? Reporters started looking into how she was handling the finances. The foundation was paying for Brinker’s multiple residences, expensive trips and private jet usage, medical procedures, and a myriad other things in addition to a good salary. Since she was raking in about $460 million a year (I think, somewhere around there), she only had to spend $46 million annually on grants.

His easy defense is to say The Schumann Center for Media and Democracy is not strictly speaking an environmental group. They fund environmental groups among other things.
They are not strictly an environmental group like 350. That would be the argument.
Its like saying that Heartland is an environmental group because they fund things related to the environment, so care must be taken in your definition of environmental group.
The thing he will not be able to deny is his claim that he is an unpaid activist.
He is an activist. he is paid. Whether than money technically comes from an environmental group like 350, or from a broader group that funds environmental groups can be debated.

Author and environmentalist Bill McKibben appointed Schumann Distinguished Scholar at Middlebury College
November 9, 2010
MIDDLEBURY, Vt. — Middlebury College President Ron Liebowitz announced today that author and environmentalist Bill McKibben has been appointed to the position of Schumann Distinguished Scholar at Middlebury College. McKibben joined the college in 2001 and was previously scholar in residence in environmental studies…..
….
A grant from the Schumann Center for Media and Democracy enabled the college to establish the position.
Update: On Dec. 6, McKibben will receive the annual $100,000 Puffin/Nation Prize for Creative Citizenship at The Nation Institute Annual Dinner Gala in New York City. More information about the award is available from the Nation Institute.

Att. Bill McKibben
Psychological projection was first conceptualized by Sigmund Freud as a defense mechanism where a person subconsciously denies his or her own negative attributes by ascribing them to the outside world instead. Thus, projection involves imagining or projecting faults onto others.[1] The original idea was that projection would allow for reduced anxiety by allowing the expression of the unwanted unconscious impulses or desires without letting the conscious mind recognize them.
Please Bill, keep that in mind…

Notice on the 2010 “grantees” list from Tides, there is a $40,000 grant to stopdirtyenergyprop.com which does not exist currently but according to the wayback machine:
“Paid for by No on 23 – Californians to Stop the Dirty Energy Proposition. Sponsored by environmental organizations and business for clean energy and jobs.
Major funding by Thomas Steyer and No on 23 Committee of the NRDC Action Fund to Stop the Dirty Energy Proposition. FPPC ID # 1324059.
1100 11th Street, Ste. 200, Sacramento, CA 95814 info@stopdirtyenergyprop.com phone/fax number 888.445.7880″
http://web.archive.org/web/20100728191309/http://www.stopdirtyenergyprop.com/
Interesting considering the stink currently being raised in California for out of state funds used for an anti-tax proposition in the most recent election. It seems like the entire operation was run from out of state.
Also in that list from Tides is $153,000 that went to “No Organization”. That’s interesting. I wonder in whose pocket that money landed. By the way, “stopdirtyenergyprop.com” seems to have been created by PROOF Interactive in Las Vegas, NV and a brief stop at their website shows they bragging about a personal visit by Barack Obama.

Wow, let’s get the full take-away from Skiphil’s comment: “… Bill McKibben has been appointed to the position of Schumann Distinguished Scholar at Middlebury College. …. a grant from the Schumann Center for Media and Democracy enabled the college to establish the position.”
Why, this is just money-laundering, elitist style. The Schumann Center grants money to Middlebury College which then turns around and awards that money to Schumann’s own trustee! All very proper and high-brow and, undoubtedly, tax-minimizing.

Skiphil
February 15, 2013 1:39 pm

This says that the Schumann Center for Media and Democracy donated $2.7 million to Middlebury College to endow the program in “Environmental Journalism” where McKibben is employed as “Distinguished Scholar.”
http://opinion.financialpost.com/2013/02/14/rockefellers-behind-scruffy-little-outfit/
The way such endowments typically work in universities and colleges, there would be an annual budget for salary and expenses from the income derived from the capital. Thus, McKibben could easily be in a six-figure income at Middlebury College for the purpose of training his activist students/acolytes to spread out into activities for 350.org and related activist groups. This is one way that activist dollars are laundered through colleges and universities, to run programs, fund salaries etc. which are not solely or even predominantly scholarly!!

You will also note many of the energy groups that get funding from Tides but if you look very closely you will notice a direct economic conflict of interest. They are actually USING Tides and the various environmental organizations in order to further their own business goals and put cash money into their own pockets. For example:
Center for Energy Matters 25,000.00 U.S.A. http://www.centerforenergymatters.org
Now if we look at that site we see that they are “fighting” for a “cleaner” energy future and they even lead with the lie that fossil energy in the US is getting “scarcer” with every passing day, which is not true. But in any case, lets look at who they are:
Board of Directors:
Michael Bergey – President, Bergey Wind Power Co.
Cody Graves – CEO, Automated Energy Inc
Michael Root – Executive Vice President and CFO, WeatherBank
Jay Yowell – Principal, JYarchitecture & Co-Founder, Oklahoma Sustainability Network
Think ANY of those people might have a direct financial interest in seeing impediments placed in the path of developing conventional sources of energy? It would be like having the President of Exxon/Mobil on the board of directors of an anti-wind energy site.
The reason these people accuse their opponents of having direct business interests or being funded by big oil, etc. is because THEY are doing that. They believe everyone else thinks like they do. They believe that if THEY have a direct corporate interest in their political activism, then everyone else must be doing the same thing. People like to think they are normal average folks. They look at a situation and ask themselves “what would I do in that situation” and in so doing project their own situation / behaviors onto that person or situation. So they might ask themselves “why is Heartland doing this” and then they look at their own situation. They know why they themselves are doing it … to further their own business interest … so they naturally assume the other side is as well. It never dawns on them that they are wrong, they are doing more harm than good, and the other side might just actually be in it for bigger reasons than just lining their own pockets with cash.

No need to look too hard, it’s just sheer laziness.
The only capitalization in that email was auto-filled: addresses and email template footer already had the caps.
Thankfully the laziness limits his ability to shout in an email, even if he’s typing proper and using caps. Because with normal two-handed typing on a standard American keyboard, to do an exclamation point he’d have to Shift Right, which would take quite an extraordinary effort.

This is all completely unsurprising. Corporate board of directors’ positions are
typically funded at $20K-$25K/annum. Check out the number of directorships
Hillary Clinton had, or any random political figure. It’s completely reasonable
that a “foundation” wanting to attract someone who has an established media
presence would pay similar amounts.
Hey, remember that $240K “grant” from the Heinz foundation to James Hansen?

Why, this is just money-laundering, elitist style.

And just exactly how do you think these “elitists” get their money otherwise? They can’t seem to function in a real market economy where their ability to generate wealth actually depends on succeeding at producing something. Instead they function in a world where their ability to generate cash depends on how articulate they are and if they say the things the people with the money want to hear/believe. In fact, their real productive output is destruction, not production. They increase costs of energy, increase costs of doing any sort of productive work at any level, increase red tape, increase overhead expense on everyone and eventually they produce a world that is exactly 180 degrees opposite of the one they were dreaming of. The more they try to “fight” poverty and create “fairness”, the more people fall into poverty and find an arbitrary unfair bureaucracy making life and death decisions for them. These people TALK well, but they are ignorant and don’t know how to produce anything. They are just sponges absorbing excess wealth. But if the world becomes what they are on track to create, they will find their source of excess wealth will be gone. But they probably don’t care.

Vivian Krause showed the way to expose the “charities” that funnel millions to the eco movement in Canada. She exposed the politicians linked with them and the tactics, including the cozying up of aboriginals on specific energy corridors. Vivian should receive the Order of Canada for her work. She is a courageous woman as these people have huge vested interests that can be counted in billions.

Anthony, readers should also be interested in what the former head of WWF in Canada is doing these days: Gerald Butts is managing the Liberal campaign for Justin Trudeau, the son of the former controversial Prime Minister.

I agree, this whole thing should be deeply, thoroughly investigated. This scam just get uglier and uglier – what’s it going to take to full exposure? I’m talking full MSM, everyone knowing about it, exposure.
Why would they expose themselves? You don’t expect the Biggest Enablers, the MSM, to do serious reporting on the game they’re in on, do you?
*
I know they won’t. That’s why the rest of my initial post:
“Why have we got a tiny group of people (pretending to be many more) holding the world to ransom? Where are the cops? Where are the investigators? I know, I know, you don’t have to tell me – but the mess will be cleaned up, even if it’s another generation that has to do it. The truth will come out.”
Point is there are people out there in all walks of life who are not part of the scam. Those are the people who will – eventually – look into the whole ugly mess. Everything changes over time, even reporting – at least the eternal optimist that I am likes to think so. 🙂

One must also understand that lying, stealing, outright corruption, etc. is perfectly acceptable if you are a “progressive” if it is “for the cause”. The so-called “Progressives” of this era are probably the most corrupt political entity this country has seen in over 100 years, possibly ever. This is because, unlike years gone by, most cities are a one paper town. It used to be that papers were biased just like today but you had several different perspectives from which to choose. San Francisco at the turn of the 20th century might have had a dozen dailies in several languages. Today we have one paper and that one is generally in the tank for one political party. I am not aware of a major “Republican” newspaper on the West Coast or the Northeast. There is no press to hold these politicians accountable so they drift further and further into corruption. The political left in the US is at this point rotten to the core. They lie, they cheat, they steal from us, they steal from our children.
Just today we saw a corrupt Chicago Congressman and his corrupt Chicago Alderman wife brought on charges. The day before we saw the corrupt former mayor of San Diego in trouble but the party affiliation never mentioned in the reporting. If you search for that party and “corruption” you will find few matches because they are careful never to link them in the reporting but if you search for “corruption” by itself and research the individuals, you will find that one single party in the US is responsible for a vast majority of the corruption. This is the same party that wants to tax your conventional energy use in order to shovel the cash to their political allies in the alternative energy business. They are stealing from you while trying to convince you it is for the “greater good”. It is straight out of Orwell’s 1984.

Well done Crosspatch.
His page at Middlebury College http://www.middlebury.edu/newsroom/experts/mckibben/node/25001 doesn’t mention any classes or any academic work. It’s all about his activism.
Far from being an unpaid activist, he earns 100% of his money from activism.
Even if he’s not paid to be an activist, but he’s paid because he’s an activist. The difference may be important in his mind, but to the rest of us just looks like hypocrisy. If he takes money “to cover expenses” for going to activist events that he doesn’t have to go to for his job, then even that distinction is gone.

Weepy Bill should really lift some weights, do some push-ups, something, if he’s going to survive the hunter/gatherer world he’s trying to re-create. Throwing spears and rocks to kill your dinner won’t be easy with those spindly arms.

And don’t forget Santa Fe Railroad in places like Texas and Oklahoma … look for opposition to pipelines there, too. This is the same game John D. Rockefeller played with Standard Oil in blocking pipelines from competing companies when he owned both the oil fields in Ohio and Pennsylvania and the railroads that carried the oil. You will notice that Buffett and Soros are buying up farmland over shale deposits, too.

I have posted half a dozen times on WUWT about Vivian Krause research into Tides and how the Mayor of one of Canada’s largest cities was a paid hack. Krause also showed that David Suzuki (an iconic host of a taxpayer funded CBC television science documentaries) is a paid hack protecting the interests of the Alaska Salmon industry.
Read this article and especially watch Ezra Levant on Sun TV (linked video in the article)

Crosspatch and others,
Thank you for your info on the very revealing web of funding activities. I hope that an investigation will be done and charges brought. I’m not sure where the IRS would stand in this. It sounds like racketeering and possible money laundering.
Crosspatch, you’ve done a lot of digging on this and if you could be reimbursed through the ‘whistle blower’ fund it would be a good reimbursement for your efforts. Like myself, I’m sure you have revealed something a lot of others were not aware of. Hijacking and manipulating the funds in these foundations is a gold mine for those involved.

I have actually brought nothing new here. This is stuff that has been brought forth time and time again on blogs and in other fora. It is nothing new. The political left is at this point in the US absolutely corrupt and it is organizations such as Tides and Fenton that are enabling the corruption though they probably see it as exactly the opposite. They see lying and stealing from people and impoverishing people as perfectly acceptable if it is for the “greater good”.

Skiphil says: “Thus, McKibben could easily be in a six-figure income at Middlebury College for the purpose of training his activist students/acolytes to spread out into activities for 350.org and related activist groups. This is one way that activist dollars are laundered through colleges and universities…”
This is a real problem – the generation of thousands and thousands of “experts” which are now being released from the Academic institutions upon families like mine. They graduate with Environmental/ Sustainability/Resource or Energy Management/Nonprofit Management and Leadership/Science Policy type degrees and are going to be deployed in every private and public sector of life.
Please! Have Progressive Scientists no mercy at all? Death by experts has got to be the cruelest and most unusual punishment imaginable – a form of slow torture. I do not deserve this invasion of psych-art-environmental majors saving the planet through endless legislation, regulation, and environmental activism based on shoddy science and manufactured consensus. I actually am quite a nice person and this is an unbearable punishment for no reason.

Then there is DEMOS
Demos is another ‘third way’ think tank (Take a look at its Partners such as British Energy, British Gas, Scottish Power, Shell International, Solar Foundation, and its advisory board.)
….a new online forum jointly sponsored by the progressive intellectual center Demos and The Democratic Strategist Stan Greenberg is a founding editor of The Democratic Strategist and co-founder of Democracy Corps See Source Watch Greenberg was campaign advisor not only to Clinton but also to Tony Blair.
The statement in the opening article by the joint venture is quite amusing.

… in the midst of current battles over the size, cost and purpose of government, it’s increasingly obvious that erosion of Americans’ trust in government has become a tangible political asset for conservatives and a source of great frustration for progressives….
….even as progressives battle unprecedented attacks on the legacy of the New Deal and the Great Society and vigorously debate strategy and tactics, there’s a growing hunger for a deeper understanding of distrust of government and its origins, and of possible paths for restoring sufficient public confidence to sustain future progressive policy initiatives.

Don’t miss the comments. I particularly loved this two.

It’s not just government that is being undermined. To consider this the only thing the right is attacking makes the discussion too singular. The right is also attacking science, the media and education.
……..
We clearly need a dictator to cut through the messiness that is democracy. A dictator who knows what is best for all people, because the people are too fragile to make their own decisions are are too easily misled by the Koch brothers. We need a leftist dictator to impose good collectivist policies.

Rosa Delauro is the witch who spent a decade pushing a “Food Safety” bill that would let the Federal government regulate home gardens
Her husband who once was a contractor to Monsanto is the same Stan Greenberg. He is a strategic consultant to the Climate Center of the Natural Resources Defense Council on its multi-year campaign on global warming

Rosa DeLauro: Connecticut Democratic Congresswoman. Married to Stanley Greenberg, Democratic strategist and former Clinton adviser. Both credibly linked to the biotech megacorporation Monsanto – I mention this not because I care, but it never hurts to remind the netroots that they’re brazen hypocrites…

According to an investigative report by Maariv’s Kalman Libeskind, the protests were engineered by a group of media strategists who are directed by prominent Democratic strategist Stanley Greenberg, a former adviser to Bill Clinton, John Kerry and others. Greenberg directed the strategists to create a protest that was not led by one specific group, in order to create social ferment. An unnamed left-wing leader would eventually step into this ferment and take the reins, Greenberg predicted.

So… Greenberg is attempting to destabilize a loyal ally’s political structure in order to bring about an unspecified change in leadership that might prove more ideologically suitable.
Source

Emanuel and DeLauro and Greenberg. AGAIN.
…Rahm Emanuel, while head of the DCCC, received free rent from the latter two (a married couple) for five years. Rosa DeLauro is a Congresswoman from Connecticut: Stan Greenberg’s consulting firm worked recently on a British Petroleum rebranding campaign.

(I dislike the republicans too, but the media already does republican bashing so I am just evening things up.)

McKibben is not “paid.” In order to be paid you have to do actual work. Rather he is “compensated.” To be compensated you have to be a rump swab.

So Bill Moyers is on the take. Should’ve known. Funny how that information never seems to be part of his shows. I wonder how many others at PBS ought to be subject to “full disclosure”. Here’s the URL for the PBS Ombudsman. http://www.pbs.org/ombudsman/feedback.html

My favorite riff on McKibben is this “climate control” ad from Mitsubishi. McKibben (love that bald pate!) gets into an argument with his wife when he tries to change the thermostat. There’s even a reference to New Orleans (Katrina!).
This used to be the lead-in ad every day on the Weather Channel. Every time I saw it, I thought again of cranky Bill.
