Nominations are open for the 2013 weblog awards

Bloggies_nomination_2013

It is that time again, and after winning this two years in a row, can WUWT make it to “Hall of Fame” status by winning it a third year? Hard to say, but if we do, that will put us out of the running forever, since we cannot ever win the science category again if WUWT wins three times.

I’m going to ask for reader help again this year, and it is easy for you to submit a nomination.

Last year you may recall, that skeptic blogs swept the competition worldwide. WUWT won the lifetime achievement award and these four skeptic blogs were also winners in their categories:

image

Tallbloke stands tall!

McIntyre – Oh Canada!

Ice cube survives in hell, film at 11…

And there was this:

HOW TO NOMINATE:

1. This year, to participate in nomination, all you need to do is have a valid email address and visit the nomination page.

http://2013.bloggi.es

WUWT has been in the science category for the last two years.

http://2013.bloggi.es/#science

2. Scroll down, fill in the name of the blog and the URL address,

2012_nomination_example

add your nominations, and be sure to include other blogs you follow that you think will merit an award. Your ballot must contain at least three unique nominees in total. For example, for a single category:

2013_au_nom

Or that can be spread across categories.

3. Supply your email address in the form at the bottom.

4. Complete the captcha security words and submit.

2013_submit

5. You’ll get an email (be sure to check your spam filter if you don’t get it within about 5 minutes) with a link to click on, click it, and your nomination will be verified.

Thank you for your consideration, and good luck to everyone. May the best blog win! – Anthony

Are you saying that if WUWT wins this year then it cannot be considered ever again, but if it does NOT win then we are back to square one and could win for the next two years without penalty?
If the latter then we must vote for others this year and then vote for WUWT for the following two years, and so on until the exercise is no longer necessary, i.e. when the warmists have been defeated.
(Interesting that my spellchecker doesn’t like “warmists”.)

All the best from Holland!

Done, and with pleasure!
Uh… when you say once a blog has won three times, it is excluded, does that mean excluded for one year or for evermore? Still, Hall of Fame is important and my vote is in.
Good luck to you, Anthony – not that luck has anything to do with it. Cheers! 🙂

WUWT was my first choice, of course.
Thank you, Anthony, and all others that bring us such excellents articles and, as well so many interesting, amazing and funny comments.
My best wishes for you all from Uruguay.
(excuse me for my terrible written English. In fact, reading WUWT improve my vocabulary)
Hecho.

Sooooo, let me get this right…………..
You can only win 3 times and your out?
WTH, could the Steelers or 49ers only win 3 Superbowl’s?
My simple question is “Why?”
“Why” do folks want to stifle and not perpetuate success?
Kinda like not keeping score any more?
There are winners and losers, no matter how you stack it up in the end.
My Vote is in
What ever you do, don’t search “Vote Obama Style” on youtube 🙂

January 2, 2013 7:19 pm

After exactly 2 hours, I still have not received an email response to verify… but as I can read above, I should not expect anything within 3 hours 🙂
Here’s a quote from SKS of someone complaining, in true liberal fashion: I put in ( ) around the funny part but otherwise it’s cut and pasted from their science fiction pages…
“Skeptical Science has won an award for demolishing denier’s myths, (and if they changed the blogosphere voting system would undoubtedly beat the denier blog sites hands down).”

Always glad to support the scientific method. By the way those of you using gmail accounts check your spam folder for the confirmation email. It got flagged as such for me.

January 2, 2013 7:37 pm

TRM you were correct! gmail has a great spam filter and I rarely check… but this got through as spam… If you do not click on the link and see “Your ballot has been verified. Check back on Sunday, February 24 to vote for the winners!” Then your vote did not count!

Anthony,
Any idea how long to wait for the email? Going on 24 hours now (pretty sure the exact same thing happened last year). I see a few people mentioning only a few hours wait so it seems strange (and just how long does it take to autosend an email anyway?).
P.S. What a great idea submitting SkS for religious blog! I wish I thought of that. If I have to fill this thing out again I am submitting RC, SkS and NASA for the religion category.

Best of luck AW.

Nominated and confirmation received in under a minute, check spam filter if not received. Now I just have to remember to vote after Feb 24th. Best of luck Anthony. Lots of people seem to think they’ve already voted so make sure there’s a reminder when voting starts.
