When the Atlantic hurricane season starts next June 1, it will have been 2,777 days since the last time an intense (that is a Category 3, 4 or 5) hurricane made landfall along the US coast (Wilma in 2005). Such a prolonged period without an intense hurricane landfall has not been observed since 1900. The long-term intense hurricane drought means that a mere “regression to the mean” will see more hurricane landfalls and considerably higher damage in the years to come. The fashionable talk these days of a “new normal” is of course utter bullsh*t. A paper published today in The Journal of Climate reconstructs snow accumulation of the Greenland ice sheet from 1600-2009 and finds “a 12% or 86 Gigaton/yr increase in ice sheet accumulation rate from the end of the Little Ice Age in ~1840 to the last decade of the reconstruction. This 1840-1996 trend is 30% higher than that of 1600-2009, suggesting an accelerating accumulation rate.” —The Hockey Schtick, 6 December 2012

Who would have ever thought that glaciers are caused by snowfall and the amounts can vary enormously from year to year. Someone needs to tell the IPCC.

How normal!. This is how gallerias grow or are sustained over the long run. It has nothing to do with ±1 or 2 degrees C annual average. It has to do with how much or little snow accumulates.
I’ve always noticed, they talk about ice melt right and left, but research that speaks of the Gains being made at the same time, is never mentioned.

As we start talking about the dry winters, record snowfall levels stunned everyone,” he said.

Unprecedented temperature increase? Medieval warm period is back, Briffa has recanted, Jones had to concede, nothing unusual and the Mann staggers on.(Did he just tape kick me on his own back?)
Increasing CO2=warming world? MET no temperature increase in 16 yrs= CO2 emissions growing over same period. Suggestion of cooling these last years.
Our computer models show it will warm? None dare mention reality.
The ice caps are melting? Yes and No. Air temps do not appear to correlate with ice loss.
Refresh my memory here, is all that is left is , our computed version is more correct than reality?
In the latest squall of hype and hysteria, I hear nothing new, much that is shamanistic and a lot of blatant nonsense. This scam might be coming unglued way faster than I thought possible.
Once the fear mongers are down to blaming weather on warming, they have admitted defeat.

And how ironic that given this, all of that warm and moist air is uhm ALSO blamed for the droughts. Warmists can have it both ways. Living in Liberal CA, I have to remind people that the drought in the midwest caused the higher temperatures, not the other way around! Dry air warms and cools faster since there is no latent heat from water in the air to mediate the temperature.
You mean snowfall and rainfall is – ehr, unpredictable? Whod’ve thought it.

What has happened is that previous estimates have been shown to be wrong by better data from satellites. I checked Indian sources and 3 out of the last 4 monsoons have been below average in Himachal Pradesh.
Being a climate scientist means never having to admit you were wrong.

BEIJING – The National Marine Forecasting Station on Thursday reported large chunks of sea ice floating near Liaodong Bay in the Bohai Sea for the first time this winter, warning local fishery industries and port businesses to be wary of the ice.
The total area of the ice spans 10 nautical miles, the station said, adding that sea ice has also been spotted in the northern Yellow Sea.
The station said the size of the sea ice in both areas may expand over the next week, which may disrupt fishery, aquaculture and shipping operations.

Just as well those naughty glaciers weren’t at the Doha conference. They would have been ejected for dissenting.
Its worse than we thought, soon the whole earth will be covered with ice.
We need to subsidize oil so more people can drive SUV’s, not cause it will warm the planet or anything, just so they can get around in the snow….
But it is rotten, first-year snow.
