WASHINGTON, D.C. _ U.S. Rep. Blaine Luetkemeyer (MO-9) today introduced legislation that would save taxpayers $12.5 million this year and millions more in the future by prohibiting the United States from contributing to the United Nations Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), which is fraught with waste and is engaged in dubious science.
“We all know that the UN is incompetent when it comes to spending money, and that is why American taxpayers should not be forking over millions more to one of its organizations that not only is in need of significant reform but is engaged in dubious scientific quests,” Luetkemeyer said. “Folks in Missouri and across the country are tired of this never ending government spending spree, and my goal is to deliver some of our people’s hard-earned money back into their pocketbooks instead of spending it on international junk science.”
Luetkemeyer’s legislation would prohibit U.S. contributions to the IPCC, which is nothing more than a group of U.N. bureaucrats that supports man-made claims on global warming that many scientists disagree with.

That’s not bias… it’s called journalistic corruption. Bias is stage one. Hypocrisy is stage two. Corruption is stage three.

It would appear that there were a like-minded group of Believers who openly acted in concert to promote their ‘common purpose’. The delicious irony here is that THEY constantly alleged that climate sceptics were a well organized, well funded, disinformation machine!

Journalists should think it important to challenge everything said elected representatives, and it is fair to go to opponents for comments. However, unless they want to become campaigners (which is OK, but you have to declare it) journalists need to challenge both sides.

Journalistic integrity??!! I take it you aren’t familiar with the Post-Dispatch..
I sent them a LtE several years on RKBA (STP-D _hates_ RKBA) full of stats and references, carefully tailored to their letter length policy. A while later they happened to run a two-letter “opposing views” set on RKBA. The gun ban letter was pretty much like I expected. The pro-RKBA letter was… a mess. Poorly written. _Incorrect_ “facts”. Bad grammar. Chopped sentences. _Misspellings_. It did try to make some of the points my own letter had, but… mess, the best word for it. I wished they’d had the balls to run my letter. Then I kept reading and reached the signature.

When I pulled my file copy for comparison, I could see that they really had started with my letter, but altered it so extensively that I hadn’t even recognized it. I asked for an apology and correction.

conspired…oops…cooperated fully with the Lysenkoists to spread the pseudoscientific propaganda.The thing about media bias is that it is “game over”. They know they’re biased, we know they’re biased, and they know we know they’re biased. So they’re not pretending anymore, they are being explicitly biased, and it does no good to point it out to them, as Anthony does here. As an example, here in New Zealand the Wellington newspaper has an editorial titled (get this) “We Love to Love you Online Haters”, http://www.stuff.co.nz/dominion-post/comment/blogs/the-inside-story/7336698/We-love-to-love-you-online-haters , which is about how they derive positive results from their critics’ feedback. But where we’d say “critics”, the newspaper flat-out calls them “haters” — there’s your liberal mindset for you, and no effort at concealment whatsoever. Sorry Anthony, it’s just nyaah nyaah from them now.

Totally agree! The MSM could have ripped this thing entirely open way back, saving taxpayers billions of dollars AND protecting society from the menace of these lies and manipulations. I’m certain some of them know it, too. It’s their cowardice and/or coverup that makes me feel literally ill. I try to remain optimistic and there ARE reporters doing what they can to bring the story to light, but the big timers, the heavy duty press seem to cower like school kids in front of a bully. Where the f**k is their backbone? Tearing into governement waste and exposing extremist plots should be what every reporter hungers after, this scam should be like blood in the water for them. It’s right in front of their noses! Why don’t they tear in? Are they all waiting for someone else to go first?
In the current state of the news media, I believe that the phrase “journalistic integrity” is now listed in the dictionary as an example for the word: oxymoron.

I don’t get it. What did Lambrecht do wrong? He sort the opinion of a climate scientist in response to a particularly dumb piece of proposed legislation.
I think you only really object to his behaviour because he is not on your side.
REPLY: Since you aren’t in journalism, but are instead an insular academic, obviously you don’t understand. Journalists should not goad people in making responses or suggest challenges. He’s telling the person he’s interviewing that “it shouldn’t go unchallenged”. It’s just wrong by journalistic ethics to goad the person you are interviewing into challenging the subject you are writing about. – Anthony
One of my great uncles worked at the St. Louis Post-dispatch a long time ago. Funny enough, he always described the paper as a liberal rag and refused to even subscribe to it despite contributing to it….but what changes in 50 years huh?

The problem is that we now have reporters/editors who have college educations. The old timers grew up in the street, had a finely honed sense of cynicism, never trusted a politician of any stripe, and could tot sums even in the billions. Today, the college boys don’t have a clue.

There is a reason why we locals call it the ‘Post-Disgrace’.
