Obama may not be talking publicly about Climate Change and has instead ordered the EPA to implement sweeping environmental controls that will do the same thing legislation would have done but through regulation.

Who care about words, actions are what matters. EPA has stopped Shell from starting drilling off the coast of Alaska (leases they spent 2.2 billion on) because they didn’t account for the affect on air quality due to a coast guard ice breaker on a village of less than 300 located 70 miles away.
Who needs to make statements when your administration takes actions like that.

Don’t celebrate just yet. It started in the late 1970s, brewed in universities as the new future-best-thing in the 1980s (I was part of it), was honed then released to the gullible public in the 1990s, and spun full blast by the media, the politicians and the greens in the 2000s. The EPA admitted that they weren’t sure that an ice breaker would even be needed, but that they felt that Shell should have accounted for that possibility in their filing. A 2.2 billion dollar investment scuttled because Shell forgot to account for one, maybe two icebreaker trips per year. Sheesh.
If it hadn’t been that, they would have invented some other excuse.

How did they get a representative “sample” from Sub-Saharan Africa when the questions were asked over the phone. The mind boggles. If you discount the Europeans, who have been conditioned over two centuries to doing what they are told, I don’t think that the opinion polls are all that favourable to the AGW hypotheses. Certainly here in Australia there is a marked drift away from its acceptance.

It’s not easy being green (apologies to Kermit) when you’re more concerned about paying your mortgage and feeding your family.
Canadian support percentages are higher because we were fortunate to weather the last couple of years better than most, if we had not, I’m sure the support for the green movement would be a lot lower here too. We’re also more politically correct here and we don’t have as much vocal opposition to the whole thing. Most of the media is still supportive, but seemingly a little less so than previously. We’re also in an election (again) and 4 of the 5 major parties all are strong supporters, and even the Conservatives mouth the platitudes.
Next Monday we find out where we’re heading. I can hardly wait. 🙁

The pendulum swings back, but in the case of AGW at no time in the past has there ever been such a huge number of people whose very livelihoods and fortunes been so dependent on the pendulum not swinging back.
I doubt if Obama would get re-elected on the promise of:
“Expanding bureaucracy and rules so as to increase US dependence on foreign oil”.
He is not stupid, just more wrong than right than most people, but he will figure out what to do with the greenies and the EPA eventually.

It really doesnt not matter at all whether the public agree or not with the CAGW fraud, the sweeping changes will go ahead anyway regardless, they will just do it quietly with no fanfare, the bought off MSM will by and large keep quiet.

As if being linked to Sarah Palin by her statements and positions isn’t enough, any association with Jonah Goldberg should be viewed with, ahem, skepticism and caution. Goldberg never met a war of aggression or overthrow of a country not aligned with his particular world view that he didn’t like. He’s an internationalist in most areas and a warmonger in all. If he happens to be right about this particular issue it’s only because he can’t be wrong all the time – although he certainly tries.
I am naive. I am trying to remain optimistic; it is harder and harder to do.
During Bill Clinton’s administration I was deeply disappointed in America and disgusted by the constant encroachment of the Washington gangsters on reason and liberty. But at least it all was within some vague framework of the good old American fighting spirit. After all, taxpayers have been abused by governments since times immemorial. What’s new under the Moon?

As others have noted and for the reasons I set out here, that Gallup poll is of dubious value. [Someone has pointed out that, when Gallup say they interviewed “approximately 1,000 adults … in 111 countries” that could mean 1,000 in each country. If so, that would invalidate my sample size criticism although not my other criticisms (language and access for example)]. But I doubt if it does means that – in my view, the poll is of dubious value.
But, assuming for a moment that it is accurate, despite desperate claims that “most of the world” is convinced of AGW, the results make dismal reading for the warmists. Not only is concern dropping sharply in the US (and the UK) but, even more significant in terms of climate change politics (remember Copenhagen?), the countries with least concern – well below the US’s 53% (down from 63%) – include Russia (41%), India (30%), South Africa (28%) and China (21%). Yes: 80% of Chinese are sceptics.

Consider that mid-century, industrialization unfettered by environmental regs was the dominant policy choice, blessed by the masses and promulgated by our leaders. Then the late-60s and 70s saw the pendulum swing towards regulation — CAA, CWA, SDWA, CERCLA, NEPA, EPA, ESA, solar panels on the white house … demanded by the masses (Earth Day) and promulgated by our leaders. Then in the 80’s, environmental causes again took a back seat … Carter-bashing was in vogue, industry-friendly measures were the rage, and Reagan deregulation ensured no toughening of various environmental standards. Things started to turn back in the late-80s with Hansen’s testimony, the CAA Amendments, the Montreal Protocol, an environmentalist VP and Kyoto. But by the late-90s, early-00s, then pendulum swung again >> the Senate unanimously rejected Kyoto, Gore was derided as “Ozone Al,” and Bush Jr. undid a remarkable amount of environmental regs. The pendulum swung back again with IPCC’s TAR, McCain-Warner-Lieberman sponsored cap-and-trade bills, the Bingaman resolution, An Inconvenient Truth, and outspoken concerned scientists. We’re now just at the point where the pendulum has swung back with skeptics’ book success, Climategate and the Himalayan glacier mistake, the rise of Fox and the success of sites like this, a renewed outspokeness by skeptics, the Tea Party, and anti-regulation fervor.

Superman Renounces U.S. Citizenship in ‘Action Comics’ #900
Truth, Justice, and the American way no longer cuts it. Superman doesn’t want his good deeds to be associated with the US, specifically the US government. He needs to have a more global perspective.
Thank you Obama, for making being identified as “American” wholly unfashionable.
1. Has Superman fixed global warming on his (DC universe) Earth? If not, why not?
2. Where’s Superman’s birth certificate? How’d he become a US citizen?
I wonder how the subsequent comics will turn out, when Superman has to cope with being on the “no fly” list, obtain visas before he enters the US… When the naked body scanners don’t work due to his alien physiology so he has to submit to a TSA “enhanced pat-down”…

It really doesnt not matter at all whether the public agree or not with the CAGW fraud, the sweeping changes will go ahead anyway regardless, they will just do it quietly with no fanfare, the bought off MSM will by and large keep quiet.
No debate and no discussion and no alternative? CAGW isnt real, it is and always was a political vehicle. CAGW was never meant to be anything other than a justification for socio political change and it doesnt matter whether we believe in that change or not. OK so the fabricated ‘science’ used as cover has been largely seen for what it is, a pack of made up lies but that does not and never really did matter.
The CAGW fraudsters knew from the get go that their vehicle could only get them so far but so far is al they needed, sure they could have done with a little more time but by and large the fraudsters believe they can now enact the changes they crave without the people being on board.
It all depends on whether the CAGW fraudsters can contrive to get a compliant bought off stooge picked for the 2012 Republican nomination, if they get one of theirs on board then its goodnight and good luck America. On the other hand if a true sceptic gets the nomination then the US and by extension the West may just stand a chance.
As if being linked to Sarah Palin by her statements and positions isn’t enough, any association with Jonah Goldberg should be viewed with, ahem, skepticism and caution. Goldberg never met a war of aggression or overthrow of a country not aligned with his particular world view that he didn’t like. He’s an internationalist in most areas and a warmonger in all. If he happens to be right about this particular issue it’s only because he can’t be wrong all the time – although he certainly tries.
I am naive. I am trying to remain optimistic; it is harder and harder to do.
During Bill Clinton’s administration I was deeply disappointed in America and disgusted by the constant encroachment of the Washington gangsters on reason and liberty. But at least it all was within some vague framework of the good old American fighting spirit. After all, taxpayers have been abused by governments since times immemorial. What’s new under the Moon?
No matter how wrong and despicable Bill Clinton is, he is still an American, he wasn’t trying to destroy and denigrate our country. I must admit, he actually strengthened its economy! He grew up here, he spent all his life as an American, he felt, in his own twisted way, what Americans want and hope for.
Not now. Time for words alone is over.

As others have noted and for the reasons I set out here, that Gallup poll is of dubious value. [Someone has pointed out that, when Gallup say they interviewed “approximately 1,000 adults … in 111 countries” that could mean 1,000 in each country. If so, that would invalidate my sample size criticism although not my other criticisms (language and access for example)]. But I doubt if it does means that – in my view, the poll is of dubious value.
But, assuming for a moment that it is accurate, despite desperate claims that “most of the world” is convinced of AGW, the results make dismal reading for the warmists. Not only is concern dropping sharply in the US (and the UK) but, even more significant in terms of climate change politics (remember Copenhagen?), the countries with least concern – well below the US’s 53% (down from 63%) – include Russia (41%), India (30%), South Africa (28%) and China (21%). Yes: 80% of Chinese are sceptics.
God forbid! Sarah and her pro-American Apple-Pie image, self-sufficient female posture, and self-defense pro-firearm position. Can’t have one of them rear its ugly head in modern politics can we? She just might offset those thousands of elitist stuffed shirt socialist girly men that dominate the body politic.
Well there must be dozens of examples of this for you to cite, correct? Or maybe you are one of those that equates one or two miltary actions with ‘never met a war of aggression or overthrow of a country’.

Consider that mid-century, industrialization unfettered by environmental regs was the dominant policy choice, blessed by the masses and promulgated by our leaders. Then the late-60s and 70s saw the pendulum swing towards regulation — CAA, CWA, SDWA, CERCLA, NEPA, EPA, ESA, solar panels on the white house … demanded by the masses (Earth Day) and promulgated by our leaders. Then in the 80’s, environmental causes again took a back seat … Carter-bashing was in vogue, industry-friendly measures were the rage, and Reagan deregulation ensured no toughening of various environmental standards. Things started to turn back in the late-80s with Hansen’s testimony, the CAA Amendments, the Montreal Protocol, an environmentalist VP and Kyoto. But by the late-90s, early-00s, then pendulum swung again >> the Senate unanimously rejected Kyoto, Gore was derided as “Ozone Al,” and Bush Jr. undid a remarkable amount of environmental regs. The pendulum swung back again with IPCC’s TAR, McCain-Warner-Lieberman sponsored cap-and-trade bills, the Bingaman resolution, An Inconvenient Truth, and outspoken concerned scientists. We’re now just at the point where the pendulum has swung back with skeptics’ book success, Climategate and the Himalayan glacier mistake, the rise of Fox and the success of sites like this, a renewed outspokeness by skeptics, the Tea Party, and anti-regulation fervor.
It’ll swing back … issues relating to climate, energy and the environment just don’tgo away.

no, not really….last poll i heard said 46% of Americans will not vote for obama regardless the opponent….he has a record now and people are starting to catch on to what he’s all about (that is, himself)….

This is perhaps the greatest tragedy. Climate extremists colluding with bent “scientists” have exploited the public’s enthusiasm for protecting the environment to such a pitch of alarmist frenzy that we’re on the point of throwing the baby out with the bathwater. A backlash against greens is underway.
A few decades ago green awareness was considered the domain of a loony fringe. And then the public awoke to the need for noble intelligent actions such as pollution controls and the need to limit habitat loss. And then a bunch of Watermelons move in, dressing their antidevelopment agenda in clothes of apocalypticism.
I was tempted to say that the greatest losers are the green movement itself, having lost so much credibility with Joe Public, but in fact we’re all losers. Swingeing taxes to combat the nonexistent threat of Global Warming; many precious beauty spots defiled by ugly and unproductive windmills; western nations subsidising our industrial competitors in the noxious “Clean Development Mechanism”.
I dread to think how many endangered species will be lost because the green honeypot has already been grabbed – and squandered – by the wicked hoaxers on the Global Warming Gravy Train.
