Must see video – Climategate spoof from Minnesotans for Global Warming

I’m still wiping the tears from my eyes. This is hilarious and extremely well produced.

From the website Minnesotans for global warming

Sung to the tune of :

Draggin The Line by Tommy James & The Shondells

We appear to be on our way to sunlit uplands of sanity and the return of real science! Nice!

JimB

Must….breath…..soon………..
JimB

pwl

We too up in the Great White North need some global warming… too bad it’s just a fantasy that we’ll have to keep hoping for.

PaulH

Funny! 🙂
I used to wonder how one climate scientist could pass another without laughing.
I guess they aren’t laughing any more.

helvio

Brilliant!

Alexander Harvey

I really shouldn’t have laughed, cos it is a serious business. but …
Alex

Bill

Those guys are too creative!

JohnWho

Yikes!
Now I can’t get that out of my mind!
“Hide the decline (hide the decline)”…
Aargh!
I’d be laughing even more if it wasn’t based on, uh, um, “realclimate” data.
🙂

As a graduate of PSU, I plan on hounding everyone I can to get rid of that bastard.

Laurence Kirk

Looks suspiciously like another wonderful product from Joel Veitch at http://www.rathergood.com/ .The little cat gives it away.
We Like the Moon..

That was hilarious

John Egan

Ja, Ole.
Those Minna Sotans are just too funny, eh?

5 star material!!!!
Thanks L. Gardy LaRouche!

fred

The music sucks and it wasn’t that funny.

Antonio San

This is no different than the spoof on Tom Peterson email to Jones. Criticize one, criticize both. eom.

Laurence Kirk

And even though he can be rather vulgar, on a dull day, well..

Symon

They’ve pinched that kitten from the ‘Fishy Song’.

Bruce Cobb

Yep, laughed til I cried also. Thanks for posting it, and a huge thank you to MGW for producing that very clever bit of comic relief. We needed it.
Hide the decline…hide the decline – catchy!

Thomas

This is also very funny

Philemon

fred: “The music sucks and it wasn’t that funny.”
So, everyone’s a critic.
What I want to know is what’s that blue thing with the weird eyes and the horns?

Curiousgeorge

Ridicule is SUCH a potent weapon! Great! Encore! Encore!

Jon Adams

The Video is Great! – thanks Anthony – we needed this!

Climate Change

Once people start to laugh at the AGW brand it’s all over. This is great and have posted it downunder.

Andrew

That was pretty good. They have two others worth watching.

Douglas DC

The blue thing is a witch Doctor. As is the ‘science’ generated by CRU and yes it was funny….

TerryMN

Leave it to Minnesotans to add a little context to all of this 😀

CodeTech

Thomas, nice one…
I bet very few people here will understand that that scene from the movie has been made into literally thousands of humorous take-offs on pretty much everything, only the subtitles change…
I liked this one…
I also enjoyed the M4GW one, I just wish the lead vocals hadn’t been recorded by someone in his home studio trying not to wake up his wife 😉

GREAT !!!
Those Gophers are funny !!!!
Great parody !!

Please, Minnesotans, is it too much to ask for another song? This time to get our message out:
Free the data
Free the metadata
Free the code
Free the debate
Thanks and blessings for your tremendous fun work.

fred

Apparently, I’ve attracted a spoofer. 16:27:55 wasn’t me.

R Shearer

Standing ovation from Boulder, Colorado ….brilliant.

By the way did you know that the UK Met office has declared 2009 one of the 5 hottest yeary in the last 150 years. — Where was I when that happened?

Just a shame that the music isn’t better done. Too repetitive. Parody doesn’t bear repetition. If you are going to have a chorus, make a variation. Something different, or get better musicians. Great idea, but it could have been expressed in 60 seconds and served the cause better.

For those who know The Beatles’ I’m Only Sleeping:
I’m Only Scamming
When I wake up early in the morning,
Look around for global warming.
When I’m being tricky with a scam,
See that I don’t give a damn.
Please don’t vet me;
Don’t upset me;
Leave me where I am,
I’m only scamming.
Everybody seems to think I’m hiding
I don’t mind, I’m just ‘eliding.’
Looking for my numbers at such pace,
Till they find, there’s no trace.
Please don’t spoil my hopes:
We’re on the ropes!
And after all,
I’m only lying.
Keeping an eye on the world heeding lies on Windows,
that is, on-line.
Lying there and staring at the data,
Giving it my imprimatur.
Please don’t expose my fraud
I’ll be abhorred,
And, after all,
I’m only scamming.

Neil O'Rourke

Ok,
Someone out there owes me a new laptop AND another cup of coffee!!
That was just too good!

Johnny Longtorso

Here is an excerpt from Wegman’s 2006 social network analysis of temperature reconstruction, annotated with links to the searchable archive of CRU emails:

Thanks for posting this Alan, sorry Fred I’ll try to do better next time.

“What I want to know is what’s that blue thing with the weird eyes and the horns?”
It’s a Picture of Dorian Grey thing. The blue guy is what Mann really looks like afterr all his misdeeds; to see his real appearance, you have only to pull his public funding.

Matt

About the same level as a picture in the FOI file showing sceptics stranded on an iceberg. ><

Philemon

Thank you Douglas DC for the “witch doctor” reference.
Sorry fred. So who’s “fred”? Hmm…

Deadman

I was also thinking that another Beatles’ song, Hey, Jude might fit well; if only to have four minutes of singing, “Nah, nah nah, nanana nah, hey CRU!
Hey CRU, don’t feel so sad,
take raw data, make them better …
&c.

Deadman

Umm, a thousand apologies for the double posting.

Tom T

You should win the Nobel Peace prize for that. Much more entertaining and factual than the movie that did win it.

Ohhh, I Like It!
“Hide The Decline”… will be rattling in my brain in an amusing way every time I read it from here on out.
FWIW, the stage just after “See how they distance themselves, Kohai?” (from Rising Sun) is the stage where inept defenses are offered, followed by the “humor phase”… which can be sometimes followed by the “running from the building” phase. We can only hope the stage progression continues.
We’ve already gone from “Situation Normal”, to “Stuation Normal, All Fouled Up” (or SNAFU), to Distancing themselves, and now to “Humor”…
Just a little more to do…. and they can no longer “Hide the Decline…” dah dah dah daaahhh…
