Pretty cool – superimposing his plug for his book with “What up with That?” I think Gore got dissed.
Wow! Somehow they packed just as much science into a short skit as Al has in his whole book!

If Gore was trying to plug his book, which of course he was, how pathetic. The skit was pretty weak in my mind, and Al came off looking even weaker. It made him look like part of a joke, which is of course what he is.
I’m sure the WUWT title was surely coincidental. Would anyone really believe the writers at SNL have any knowledge of it?

Totally agree with every portion of that statement. I still found it extremely funny, regardless.
It would seem as though Al Gore found a great way to have made a great fool of himself.
As for the “Whats up with that” routine, as is said in show biz, any publicity is good publicity. I don’t see the hits on this web site declining.

Actually SNL over has done a good job of shifting alliances to mock the powers that be, so this might be a more than mere coincidence.
On a side note there must be someone out there in then internets who has ability to “fix” the unfortunate spelling mistake in the SNL skit and add a .com to the bottom of the title sequences?

What a strange weekend this has been. When the story about the gentleman in the gray-Coat broke, I was initially elated but now I’m much less so.
Mr Gores video, for me, has just reinforced my deflating sense of elation.
The pop-idol, self-seeking clamour to be a celebrity is understandable where politicians are involved but the planet-saving, the end-is-worth the means gropings of grant-supported and supposedly serious scientists is beyond belief!

IMO the funniest thing about this skit is the irony, as the skit itself was pretty poor, and as mentioned earlier it is a reoccurring skit.
Pretty subtle for a writer at SNL @ NBC owned by GE maker of wind turbines to use the American Black vernacular, “Whut up with that?” to create the linkage. “Sure, Al, we won’t ask you any hard questions, come plug your book! ”
It IS a plug for the book in prime time BUT Albert Gore and book are minimized, (along with two other guests, “Not just you Al, baby, two other guests, too, ya know?”)
Looks like host & friends are just too busy, too mindless, or too I just gotta sing to too take serious notice of award winning Ex-VP Gore and his book of ‘choices’ for climate change. Wow!

I have seen this skit before. I think at least twice. It’s nothing to do with Watts Up With That but the coincidence is really neat. I do need to give Al Gore credit for being a good sport. Maybe it is training for when he becomes known as a complete joke to everyone.

I enjoyed the SNL skit, especially when it appears that Goricle was the totally the left out buffoon playing himself.
SNL has a well-earned reputation for responding quite quickly to what’s happening outside of the studio. They also had (it’s been years since I saw a show) reputation for not taking any prisoners. It just might be either a case of them knowing the Hadley leak has destroyed the credibility of the AGW mob and have shown it by the fact that with this skit SNL has totally PWND Al Gore. Or, alternate universe and an older parallel, AGW has jumped the shark. Either way Copenhagen just might get verrry interesting (even older reference).
What was Al thinking during all of this? My guess: “I didn’t know Al Sharpton could sing and dance.”

This skit is absolutely brilliant – especially how they conned Gore into “playing along” with six plus minutes of making a total mockery of him. He is probably still clueless as to the high likelihood that he was not there to be a contrast to the parade of clowns, but was just another member of the circus.
By the way, the music is excellent… I have a musical education and came away highly impressed with the skit on its musical value alone. That was a really well done musical production!
Color me “not amused.” Embarrassing. i was hoping Al would get a chance to tell us about inventing the Internet, or something equally stupid, but NOOOOO. I think we all wasted our time, and so did Al and the other “guests.” But I suspect he knew what was coming and decided the mini-plug was worth it. Didn’t cost him a dime, did it? It’s just show biz, and Al was playing a role.

For God’s sake people, SNL is satire. Al Gore has guested on this show many times, and he plainly is a good sport. There is a reason why they do dress rehearsals all week. “What Up With That” mocks the talk-show circuit, and DeAndre Cole’s long intro with his theme song is hysterical because he is left with too little time to chat with his guests. Add to that the random special guests that appear and the random dancing and you’ve got a winner in my book! Love DeAndre!

Even if you haven’t seen SNL before, can you really not tell that Gore is acting (even if it’s a bit subpar acting.) I love the guy who says “I suspect Al knew it was coming.” Really? What gave you that idea, idiot, the fact that he was on a comedy show and he had scripted lines with a bunch of comedians? Get a clue morons.
Jeanne, This is the first I saw of your response. THANK YOU. I was amazed by the responses as well. It actually made me feel bad about the intelligence of the human race to know that many people didn’t understand that the sketch is a joke and has nothing to do with the beliefs of the supposed “guests” on the show. These people actually thought that it was somehow a diss of Gore. LOL!! This week Mike Tyson was on. I wonder what the secret message behind that was!
I am dittoing the above comment….Al Gore knew what was going to happen in the skit, the whole thing is a joke. If you were to watch the whole episode, he is in a few more sketches. So in this case, its a good thing for Gore, considering he can take that joke.

I’m with you! Even my kids, in their early 20s, (and my youngest, age 11) know about satire, and are huge fans of SNL. They can appreciate irony, and poking fun at the powers that be. Better yet when a guest host can poke fun at themselves. Even Palin was on and was pretty entertaining, and yes, she poked fun at herself and was a hit. I don’t agree with her brand of politics, but I thought she was a good sport as was Al Gore.
So, wake up folks! Maybe do a little research regarding SNL on Wikipedia and THEN comment. Clearly, y’all haven’t been watching it through the years. There’s hope for you yet. You’re never too old to learn so do your research!
