As always, I think of this as a joint success. The readers, moderators, and contributors make this site what it is. I couldn’t do it alone.

Now, if you’d just map CO2 concentrations over the top, I think we have a correlation. Of course, you may need to Mann-ipulate the x-axis (ie, have two) so that you can stretch the CO2 data for the last 150 years over the life of the site.
Then, you can send it to the IPCC for inclusion in the next Summary for Policy Makers. I have no doubt that it will stand-up to the IPCC’s peer-review process!
Since discovering this site, I send everyone, doubters and supporters of AGW alike, here.

the most intersting thing is that while WUWT steams ahead, Real Climate and their pro AGW sympathisers have languished and are becoming almost moribund, their readers are leaving in droves ; perhaps because the weakness in their arguments have been exposed, and their scientific credibility has been damaged by their refusal to seriously debate the science, and the slavish subservience to the pontification of the IPCC.
Congratulatons to Anthony and the moderators and particulary to the contributors who are prepared to debate all the issues and tolerate with patience obvious questions from less knowledgable readers.

Theres a link on Instapundit to an AGW poll by the San Fran Examiner. The poll is slanted, almost a push poll in favor of AGW hysteria. But it asks where you get your AGW news and I imagine that a lot of folks who are “deniers” will be listing your site. Beware, the Obama administration may be giving you the “Edmonds” and “Fox news” treatments as soon as Cap and Tax hits the congress.

Anthony, thought I know you have 30 years of meteorology and broadcasting behind you, I never fail to be amazed with your output and consistent good quality and courtesy.
I hope that when the Climate Science plague is eventually brought under sufficient control, you’ll think further about how to put this work on a footing that doesn’t depend on your presence. I at least am aware that this new Citizens’ Science that is stumbling its way into being is going to be vital in the future (a) as a necessary counterbalance to professional science, much as Open Source balances Microsoft, and (b) it’s an amazing creative and therapeutic outlet for many to make a real contribution and feel a sense of personal connection. I suspect others think likewise.
But that’s for next year. I’ve got to take a break now.
I notice the graph is linked in direct proportion to the releases of lying propaganda from the global warming industry. This can only be considered good news, as the more hysterical the alarmists become, the more people want to know the truth.
Looks like a tipping point was reached in Dec 2007. Amazing how people stop believing in rubbish when they lose a little financial comfort.

As a Conservative Association Chairman and ex Army Officer, I am a firm believer that climate has changed without man’s efforts, will continue changing wih or without man and life will adapt anyway. I see few efforts going into studying that however the globe warms, man will benefit as a whole from several more degrees of it. Lord Lawson is clear that if the globe was warming there are 10 important things we should be doing about it and squandering money against GW is not on his list. Bjorn Lomberg also is of that view to a great extent.

Not everyone realises this, but those web page hits give rise to trillions of electrons roaring around the world at the speed of light, and these are robustly believed to be responsible for the release of some kilograms of carbon dioxide, the well-known plant food and deadly killer trace gas.
As we speak, several molecules of CO2 in the troposphere at temperatures as high as -50C are unleashing a barrage of lethal infra-red radiation at the earth. Our fragile, pathetic planet, accustomed as it is to dealing only with the consequences of mild phenomena such as tropical storms and polar blizzards, is clearly unable to deal with such withering assaults in its remorseless search for equilibrium (which you ordinary mortals choose to call “weather”). Hence, you must be punished. (Nothing personal – it’s the law, or at least it will be if our pusillanimous political masters have their way in Copenhagen in a few weeks time.)
The simplest solution, if you wish to avoid imprisonment for your wanton encouragement of electron wastage, is to send a cheque for at least $100,000 to this office, whence it will be distributed to those worthy causes who recognise that mankind is truly evil and should be shivering in caves rather than living in plump comfort.
If you wish to contribute more directly to the deserving heroes of the near future, simply post your cheque to your favourite African dictator or ex-Enron trader.

As a reformed warmest, I’m gratified to have a forum that allows for sketicism to flourish. I think a lot of folks out there are probably like me – they care a great deal about the environment, but have never taken the time to critically read any of the actual science (not that they have much science training), and have been bombarded and overwhelmed by the AGW propaganda machine. You provide a valuable counterpoint to the overheated rhetoric.
The door opened a crack for me this summer when I first read a ‘hockey stick’ article published in the mainstream press. I was a little shocked to be honest, because mainstream press articles critical of AGW are few and far between. This piqued my interest, which led to your site (my favorite), among others.
We have a long road ahead of us I fear. Please keep leading, I’ll be following.

Congrats on your site performance. It’s apples & oranges, though, comparing a large commercial enterprise that has been in existence for almost twenty years with WUWT, which started in late 2006. The relevant comparison is WUWT vs all other climate related sites, both alarmist and skeptic.

Yes, this is the only hockey stick that seems scientifically valid. Congratulations, Anthony, and kudos for your ability to enable so many knowledgeable and intelligent (and, maybe, opinionated) people from all walks of life and from around the world to work together for science and responsible public policy.

I know this comment will be considered anecdotal, but I’d like to inform people of this globull warming hogwash from a farmer’s perspective. We raise corn and soybeans in eastern Iowa. April through June was cool and wet, causing problems with planting; we had our coldest july ON RECORD this summer and August was also cooler than “normal”. Corn matures according to the heat units received and our ag specialist told us that the corn was generally 2 months behind schedule, because of the cool, wet summer. We are harvesting corn that is 26% moisture right now–sure takes a LOT of LP to dry that down to 14 % for proper storage. The soybean harvest has been a mess, because we have rain every 3-4 days, so it’s hard to get into (and out of) the fields, in addition to harvesting the beans at their best moisture content for storage. Last week, Iowa and Illinois farmers had harvested only 16% of the beans, down from a “normal” 76% rate…more evidence of the cool, wet conditions. When people tell me that the globe is warming, I want to drag their silly butts to my corner of the world and show them what’s really happening. Next year, we will be planting more short season corn and beans, just so we can have a longer harvest season. The yields will be lower, but it’s better than leaving the crops in the fields to rot.
Your website is a breath of fresh air for people who see the globull warming crowd for what they really are–people who want to tax and spend our dollars and will use any ruse to get there. Please keep up the good work, Anthony, and all you scientists and science oriented people keep fighting the good fight!

Do you realise (note British spelling) how many late nights you have subjected me to? The quality of your contributors and most commenters together with the sensible and fair moderation make WUWT unmissable as far as I am concerned. Congratulations on such well-deserved success.
Makes sense to me. It’s getting colder and people are more likely to be inside where the computers are located instead of outside enjoying warm weather.

The depth of coverage on this site is beginning to rival the major news outlets in many respects, and the thoughtful and sometimes energetic debates are always entertaining and informative. There are a great many issues I learned here that I would be totally ignorant of if I only went to the major news organizations.

There is no information on the meaning of “views”. It is not clear whether it is total hits (showing a page and an image is 2 hits), page views (one person viewing main page and one article is 2 views), or visits (one person viewing main page and several articles in a short period is 1 visit).
You could do something special.
Use the IP address and try and identify the 20 millionth visitor and everyone else give them 1 dollar.
If it was me that would be swell.

Real science is about the facts – not the theories. Current climate science suffers from have poor quality data of insufficient granularity and I find this is a good place to find some gems of real information – the debate is not over yet.

Thank you for your site. We can only hope some sense of scientific sanity can be brought to this field. It’s so sad that too many scientists look the other way because they do not want to get political blow-back on their grants. Eisenhower was a smarter guy than many gave him credit for being. Where is the leader we need now who can call the question seriously enough and publicly enough to make a difference. Richard Feynman, where are you when we need you?

I believe the tipping point may have been Gore’s AIT, which backfired badly, as it caused people to actually start looking at the evidence, if nothing else than to answer the question “how scared should I be”? But there was also the claim that “the debate is over”. In 2007 I wasn’t aware of any debate whatsoever. Oh, there were a few Letters to the Editor by a few people who had to be nothing more than politically-motivated cranks, or so I thought. So, I decided to see what this supposed “debate” that I had apparently completely missed somehow was all about, and to confirm that yes, we really do need to be scared. The funny thing was, the more I learned, the more skeptical I became.
This site has become such a huge success for 2 reasons: Excellence, of course, but also an increasingly skeptical public, in part fueled by – you guessed it, this excellent site, with all of the good qualities mentioned by so many.
Keep up the good work, Anthony, and much- deserved congratulations on your continued, and increasing success.
