Why waste time talking science to politicians scientifically illiterate? That’s like if I talked to my kids about quantum physics and relativity… I certainly won’t be able to keep their attention for very long.
Because of the above, it is as clear as water (or as the atmosphere containing 350 ppm of CO2), that this is not about science but all to do with money… money from the tax payers to their corporate friends.

I’d have a hard time believing that, SIP, my cycling friends say bicycles are just too efficient to be good exercise. One friend who bikes says if he ever swings his leg over the bar, and sits on his bike; he will not get off till he has gone 50 miles.
The four folks would be exhaling CO2 in either case; and the total horsepower for the SUV is way higher than that required to ride four bikes. I’m a lousy biker at my age, and I can do 10 mph without breaking a sweat.
But I’m sure you have some peer reviewed paper to support your contention.
Now in silicon valley we have a lot of people who are more used to bicycles of either the two in line, or the two side by side variety; and as it turns out they drive their SUVs the same way they ride those bikes.

I just finished listening to the stream. I have several observations:
1. The whole economic impact assessment of Tax and Trade is based on incomplete EPA models which Boxter asserts is reality despite differing analysis from industry representatives who are looking at real numbers. Small business refineries estimate a cost of over $100M with Tax and Trade out of a revenue stream of $35M. Boxter insists Tax and Trade will minimize the impact and, while the the small business presentation was good, the conclusion is wrong.
2. Environmentalists were successful in preventing the construction of newer more efficient and more environmentally friendly coal fire plants capable of adapting to carbon sequestration when the technology comes along in one or two decades. This forced the energy industry to keep the old, less efficient, and non-adaptable plants on line. I didn’t miss the accusations that the coal energy industry continues to abuse its use of older and dirtier energy production.
3. China has been in negotiations with Pennsylvania to build newer energy efficient coal fired plants in the U.S. Boxter says we can’t keep going down this road.
4. Sequestration is one to two decades away, natural gas production with current delivery systems is incapable of supplying a quick transition away from coal, environmentalists were successful in halting expansion of coal, nuclear power is a dead end. When asked where the energy is going to come from to serve the base load during the transition to renewables, the answer followed the line of American ingenuity will solve the problem and Tax and Trade will force it to happen.
What I got from the whole committee meeting was “don’t tell us there are problems, don’t speak of job losses, don’t suggest renewable energy can’t fill the gap, don’t use economic downturn as an excuse, and don’t point to failure of other countries to achieve goals with their own versions of tax and trade. Our models took all of that into consideration and predict plenty of energy, lower energy costs, more jobs, and an electric car in every garage.”

The Obama administration says it will follow the science. Unfortunately the “science” they are following is past its “use before” date.
The models have changed little in the 30 years since they were built and the assumptions have long since been shown to be faulty. But the politicians spent a lot of public money on the models and can’t bring themselves to admit they are crap. The modelers know the models are crap and won’t admit it because that means the end of the gravy train and the engine has been stoked to full steam.
Mark my words: If they succeed in passing this Waxman-Markey madness, it will add 10 years onto the time necessary to salavge the Economy.
I believe the 20 million jobs estimated that it will cost us is a conservative figure.
The Great Depression had it’s Dust Bowl, we are now staring at a Cold Bowl.
Only this time, we are not the America of the 30’s able to rely upon our own means. That America was pawned off.

Since it was the EPA that forced the use of catalyctic converters on cars, and since those catalyctic converters were made to produce “harmless” CO2, and since CO2 is now designated as a pollutant by the very same EPA, shouldn’t the EPA order the immediate disuse of all catalyctic converters on cars? Doesn’t it go against all logic that the EPA would continue to allow a now “known pollutant” to be produced and emitted, even though that production was a result of their own previous orders?

That’s because these candy-seekers have more to worry about than ghosts and goblins. They need to avoid a different kind of predator on Halloween – the polar bear.
In Churchill – known as the polar bear capital of the world – Halloween falls smack in the middle of the busiest time for the iconic mammals. The bears are restlessly wandering around as they wait for cooler temperatures so they can head out onto the frozen winter ice.

The Obama administration says it will follow the science. Unfortunately the “science” they are following is past its “use before” date.
The models have changed little in the 30 years since they were built and the assumptions have long since been shown to be faulty. But the politicians spent a lot of public money on the models and can’t bring themselves to admit they are crap. The modelers know the models are crap and won’t admit it because that means the end of the gravy train and the engine has been stoked to full steam.

Since it was the EPA that forced the use of catalyctic converters on cars, and since those catalyctic converters were made to produce “harmless” CO2, and since CO2 is now designated as a pollutant by the very same EPA, shouldn’t the EPA order the immediate disuse of all catalyctic converters on cars? Doesn’t it go against all logic that the EPA would continue to allow a now “known pollutant” to be produced and emitted, even though that production was a result of their own previous orders?

We Americans have one or two weapons left. Vote in a third party who will wipe out the idiotic laws that have been passed and nullify bad treaties. Even a state has the ability to nullify a treaty.
