Web video depicts dead president warning climate change ‘threatens our very existence,’ claims ‘technology and renewable energy offers the last remaining hope.’

There’s something a little creepy about historical figures being brought back to life to promote climate change alarmism, but the over-the-top environmentalists at Greenpeace have no qualms with using it as a tactic.
A video posted on Greenpeace’s YouTube site portrays former President John F. Kennedy, who was assassinated Nov. 22, 1963, in Dallas, making a plea for environmental activism to save the planet from the perils of global warming.
“When man first walked upon the moon, it defined a generation,” Kennedy is depicted saying. “As this new millennium dawns, we face a greater challenge – climate change threatens our very existence. What further disasters will convince world leaders that the existing technology and renewable energy offers the last remaining hope for sustainable future?”
The ad is part of a Greenpeace campaign labeled “Energy [R]evolution” that sets greenhouse gas goals far in excess of the Kyoto treaty. The ad promotes the eradication of coal-fired plants, using more expensive unproven sources of energy, blames industrialized nations for the plight of poor nations, and calls for a radical overhaul of the European auto industry.

Other aspects of the campaign include an energy policy based on “equity and fairness,” reduction of greenhouse gas emission by “up to 30 percent below 1990 levels,” “strict mandatory efficiency standards” for home and office appliances and the phasing out of nuclear power, which has been deemed as a greenhouse gas-free energy solution to the climate change issue by some.
The ad makes an emotional plea by linking climate change disaster scene after disaster scene, including a post-Hurricane Katrina shot from Reynoir St. in Biloxi, Miss, followed by shots of children, calling for an “energy revolution.”
“Hollow words and spineless resolution have failed,” the voice continued. “Now is the time for an energy revolution. Will we look into the eyes of our children and tell them that we had the opportunity but lacked the courage? Will we look into the eyes of our children and tell them that we had the technology, but lacked the vision? Or, will we look into the eyes of our children and tell them that we faced our challenge and that we fought – we fought for the energy revolution?”
Kennedy is considered by some historians to be a great orator. However, the choice to use his likeness in the ad is curious because, although he is credited for laying some the foundation of modern federal environmental policy, it was his Republican rival and successor, President Richard Nixon, who made the Environmental Protection Agency a reality in 1970.
This isn’t the first time environmental messages have been linked to historical images. Al Gore’s “We Can Solve It” campaign had one commercial spot that began with video from the D-Day invasion of Normandy and included clips from the moon landing and the civil rights movement. Time magazine doctored the famous Iwo Jima photograph by Joe Rosenthal of the Marines raising the American flag and replaced the flag with a tree to push the “war on global warming.”
The use of deceased celebrities in advertising has been considered controversial by some. A recent DirectTV ad starring Craig T. Nelson as the father in the 1982 movie “Poltergeist,” shows the daughter – played by Heather O’Rourke – reciting the movie’s memorable line, “Theeeyyy’re heeerrre” However, O’Rourke died in 1988 and some critics claimed that crossed the line.
That’s just creepy. What next? An animated Lincoln calling for a carbon tax?
This sort of tasteless behaviour suggests that Greenpeace are desperate because they recognise that everything is going pear-shaped on account of the increasing AGW scepticism and the impending global cooling.
Is this a fake? I watched the video and it doesn’t really sound like JFK nor does his mouth match up very well with the words.

This isn’t rocket science; energy is either here on earth now; mostly stored here over 4.5 billion years by Mother Nature; or else it comes here from somewhere else which is where MN sent it from over those 4.5 Billion years; namely from the sun. Well there is that pesky nuclear energy that Mendeleev built into the periodic table at both ends; but mostly it’s here as stored chemical energy; Hydrocarbons.
So if we don’t use what MN has been sending us for 4.5 Byrs, how to we expect to gather it up ourselves at the snail’s pace that it arrives here; which is 342 W/m^2 according to the official NOAA global energy budget.
We started out with renewable green energy; spent all our waking hours clambering around in fig trees picking the stuff. Eventually we got smart and let the lighter monkeys get out there on the twigs and collect the figs; then we smashed their little brains and ate them.
Eventually we got down out of the fig trees and learned how to smash the brains of Thompson’s Gazelles etc, and now e could effectively eat grass too.
But it wasn’t till we discovered fire, and stored chemical energy, that our number took off to reach todays 6.5+ billions.
Renewable green energy could never have gotten us here, and it can’t sustain us here either; yes it’s renewable, but it just takes too darn long, so it isn’t sustainable; and you don’t need to know any more about energy than that.

And not even a good fake. If Greenpeace is so hard up for money, that this is all they could afford, then things are looking very good for our side.
I now get it! The AGW climate models belong to the other side. I’ve heard of a place there which is rely hot, full of sulfur, methane and carbon dioxide.
While we here in the real world have to learn to adopt to a colder climate and the insanity of carbon footprint, carbon credit and carbon taxes.

I don’t see skeptics winning the AGW fight. Once McCain or Obama gets into office, they are going to pass laws and make changes to fight AGW. It’s over (the fight to find the truth about AGW) as far as I’m concerned.

someone needs to tell these people the basic principal of physics that you can neither create nor destroy matter. therefore….the fuels we use (coal/oil mainly) are organic and one could asses that all the carbon stored in these fuels was once part of the atmosphere (which we know) when life flourished on this planet….the only catostrophic thing that happened to the weather back then was a nuclear winter…cuz of a asteroid…the end 🙂
Al Gore has suggested replacing payroll taxes with carbon taxes. I rode my bike almost everywhere and am not at all disturbed at that prospect.

I think the political battle, at the country level, has been dead for a while, though it looks like it could continue internationally. Science does not come into it any more. Sadly.
I suuspect the lunacu will continue for at least 10 years (+ or – 5 years at the margins.)
And yes, I think today’s children will have short memories and forget their in-school indoctrination and in about 20 years from now will be looking into their parents eyes and asking why no one managed to resist the trashing of the world they expected to exist when they grew up.
Still, at least Greenpeace seem to recognise that the threat will come sooner than the age of Grandchildren that they used to spout about. I guess they have done their sums and know quite well what they are proposing – just see it from a different angle.
I fear it will get somewhat worse before there is any hope of a movement towards more sensible recovery. Of course it may not come at all and we could be headed for a new dark age.

Considering this and the JFK-Green Peace fraud, is it time to gather for an orchestrated campaign against Kyoto successors.
In 1960, while JFK was running for President, Hurricane Donna ravaged Florida and the East Coast of the US all the way up to New England. As Donna finally ended, Hurricane Ethel sprang up in the Gulf of Mexico and came within about 20 miles of being worse for New Orlean than Katrina!
Of the 10 deadliest tornado outbreaks in the US, only one has happened post JFK, and that was in 1965.
Natural disaster are no more numerous or intense today than they ever have been. I would like to think that JFK would point this out to the propagandists at Greenpeace and refuse to allow his imaged to be tarnished in such a way. I at least hope that the ghost of JFK haunts the makers of the video on this Halloween.

What’s more repulsive is the speed of the images which flash on the screen. Probably falls just short of subliminal, but it’s still a psychological trick to make the mind associate the Greenpeace message with technological advance and bravery of the past.

Phillip, I disagree that they are “desperate”. This is nothing but marketing on the part of Greenpeace. They are marketing their agenda, much the same way Gore marketed HIS agenda with the AIT movie.
The same way the IPCC markets their ideas to garner support. The same way some scientist market their ideas to get grant money.
If anything, this points to a failing on the part of us skeptics.
My analogy is that when we first started fighting a ground war in Vietnam, we lost miserably. We were attempting to fight a conventional engagement against very effective guerilla warfare, and our troops didn’t stand a chance. We learned, eventually, and modified/adopted tactics that allowed us to bring supperior weaponry/technology to bear such that we won some battles.
We’re trying to win this battle with logic and reasoning. Why? There’s nothing logical or reasonable about Gore’s messaging. And the people that go ga-ga for it aren’t applying logic or reason.
We need to play the game their way, with just a hint of logic and reason, enough to make some folks go “Hmmmm…didn’t think of that. Why ISN’T that happening?”…then toss in a little “And Oh by the way, they’re going to waste BILLIONS of tax dollars that we can’t afford to waste!” on the side, and we’ll start making progress.
We need someone to take out these same types of ads. Full page in the WSJ or the NYT that deliver 5 bullets of information. Plant the seeds.

There were a number of commercials a few years back that featured dead actors including John Wayne. For a time these commercials were seen quite often. Now that the novelty has worn off, they appear less frequently. Having John Wayne appearing in a Coors Light commercial is one thing, easily not taken seriously; using a JFK image to spout propaganda gives the subject matter a degree of respectability that it does not deserve.
It’s about as genuine as anything that’s come out of the AGW crowd for years.
The really scary part is that they’re not even bothered that everyone knows they’re making it up now.

As progandists go, Green Peas has always been pretty self-destructive. More power to them in there considerable effort to find a nadir of the crass, the silly, the creepy and the offensive.

Welcome home! Technically, that storm was no nor’easter. Those form along the coast from NJ south, then come up and strengthen from cold air to the north & west and moisture from the south.
Your storm was a strange streched out affair with feed of cold air from due north that reached down to Florida, I’m not quite sure where the moisture came from, it didn’t start out with lake effect moisture.
New Hampshire got very little snow and a south wind that eventually brought cold air from Atlanta. We did get some rain, but it had amore of a tropical feel to it.
This zombie ad brings up a critical question: who else is a zombie? Can you really tell who is alive and who is a soul-less corpse animated for propaganda purposes?

By all means. Allow me, and I’m sure there will be others. I believe you are right in that he knew tyranny when he saw it. It is difficult to say, but I believe he would have seen through the AGW lie. Nothing threatens freedom more, or invites tyranny more than a lie as huge as AGW is.
