Apologies to commenters

A number of comments lately have found their way into the Akismet spam filter where before they were not. I have adjusted the SPAM filter settings several times, but this problem continues to happen. It happens especially when comments have full link URL’s in them, but not always. It also depends on the words used in the comments.

WordPress went through a softwareĀ upgrade system wide last Friday afternoon, further compounding the problem, and begging the question: “whoĀ that wants to have aĀ weekenedĀ does upgrades on Friday afternoons”?

If you’ve sent me a comment in the last week, and it disappeared, please accept my apology. Unless of course the comment was too far OT, aĀ traffic troll, or a flame, in which case I may not have posted it.

For questions concerning what comments may get rejected, please see the policy page.

The puppy looks like he just got scolded for chewing up your favorite pair of slippers.

Here’s a challenge for you (that most likely will get caught by the spamfilter):
Why don’t you stop producing new posts until you have cleaned up you solar imprint post? You have been shown to be wrong, and promised to look further into it. When are the updates due?
And what is this with removing old posts that were critical to your work that you even replied to?
REPLY: Thank you for your suggestions. Do you suggest that scientists at universities that write papers that need updates or corrections stop teaching classes or cease work on other papers they are authoring or co-authoring? I think not.
The other issue is a private matter with one individual, it is not your concern. The goal of your question is to turn that matter into a discussion. Sorry, not gonna happen.

Don’t feel too bad, accurate spam filtering is at least as hard as accurate wide area temperature measurement šŸ˜‰
I’m glad to see this blog and the surface stations project getting the attention it deserves.

Onanym,
Please come into the light by posting with your real name. I really recommend it. How can I ever get to know you without knowing your name. I look forward to your future postings.
PS Onan would not be my first choice of a nom de plum,
Sincerely,
Mike Bryant
