I guess Balmer’s purchase will make the league happy, but listening to the man gives me a headache after about 10 seconds.

As of this past January, the franchise was calculated to be worth $517 million. I’d say Balmer
may actually have been a better CEO than an investor.

Median CEO pay has now crossed the ten million dollar mark, or 257 times average worker pay. This is up from 181 times worker pay in 2009. In other industrial countries CEO pay barely gets into double digit multiples of worker pay. Prior to Ronald Reagan, US CEO pay was less than 30 times worker pay, so we’re talking a 1000% increase in pay in 30 years. And the ghost of Reagan says, “Well, I told you Trickle Down Economics would work”, “What do you mean voodoo? Well there you go again.”

The government is supposed to limit CEO pay? That’s a new one.

Well without in any way condoning the apparently illegally recorded private conversation of the present luckless owner; it would seem that he should spend a few of his dollars, on a more competent lawyer, than whoever it is that he has now.
A scholarly reading of the actual constitution and bylaws of the NBA, by someone who is most certainly eminently qualified to do so, reveals that the NBA doesn’t have a leg to stand on, in trying to deprive this owner of his property, nor to ban him as they have done.
That constitution contains specific clauses that clearly differentiate between “statements” as in illegally recorded phone conversations, and “actions” such as say bonking a referee; doing something rather than saying something, that might be construed as bringing the NBA into disrepute; as if that is possible And clearly the guy “said something” , not “did something.”
$2.5M fine is allowed for “doing something”, but maximum for “saying something”, is just $1M.
And for just “saying something”, there is NO constitutional provision for ANY other punishment, than the fine. Banishment and forced disposal of one’s property, is quite outside the bounds of the NBA’s constitutional authority or powers.
And if equal treatment under the law means anything, the number of NBA owners and staff facing similar chastisement, for similar transgressions, would rock the organization to its core. Well they have an official poster child who puts this owner to shame when it comes to such slurs.
Like I said; I offer no support for what he said.
But given his day in court, with a competent lawyer, who can actually read the NBA constitution; let alone understand what it provides for, or doesn’t, and the NBA would go tail between legs, to bed, without any supper.
And yes, Balmer, is balmey.

Full disclosure: I haven’t the faintest idea what the NBA constitution says.
However, according to sports reporting media, Sterling was diagnosed with symptoms consistent with Alzheimer’s disease this month, a finding that helped empower his wife Shelly to sell the team for $2 billion without his approval as per the terms of a family trust.
Since wife Shelly appears to have clear title, a desire to sell and a qualified (i.e. rich) buyer, who cares what the NBA constitution says?

Full disclosure Chip.
I said not one word about any family trust having any right to sell that team under the family trust terms.
I simply said, the NBA has no constitutional authority to ban him from NBA games, nor to fine him more than $1M for what he SAID.
Try reading first before writing a bunch of irrelevant drivel. Who cares what his family trust says; that has nothing to do with the NBA.

The Sterling trust gets $2 billion for a NBA team which has not won a single championship. They also have a strong legal case against the NBA and will probably collect millions more. Ballmer had a history of overpaying for acquisitions when he was CEO of Microsoft, he is simply continuing that pattern.. No wonder MS is doing better without Ballmer.
Looks like a get deal for Sterling that s__t who recorded the phone call should get a percentage finder’s fee
