A speech from the president on Earth Day – with warming as the topic

While Dr. Roy Spencer reports on a number of politically incorrect cartoons about Earth Day, saying,

“I mostly find Earth Day just plain annoying for the rank hypocrisy on display. A state-sponsored religious day of worship, along with all of the 1st Amendment-violating regulations to codify it. “

In response, the president has weighed in with a short speech.

Mr. Watts, I will never forgive you for this. I saw the heading, “A speech from the President on Earth Day.” And It instantly got my dander up. What a ghastly way to begin the day. That is, until I tapped ‘continue reading’, and actually had the opportunity to ‘see’ the speech. You sure pulled one over on me.
I salute you!

Some of these devices put out a hefty stream of hot air, such that you can modify the flow by cupping your hands and making sounds resembling that which can be generated by stretching a blade of grass between your thumbs…an ungodly shredding shriek. Or better, the sound made by operating one of these:

So, by not using a teleprompter,
Obama was making “off hand” comments?

To equate the extremely valuable service provided by these always-on-the-job workers with the stinky putridness of Obama’s foul exhale is something I cannot allow to stand!…pause to catch my breath…We must!…..(flmllthehe)……protest!….(mflhehehLOLOL)………ah hell…..funniest thing I’ve read in a long time!

Is that the “reset” button?
When you hit “reset” do the oceans recede? Or do they rise up and carve off some extra land for themselves while insisting that the land wanted it that way? And that tube thing, is that the phone that Obama will use to call the oceans and have a stern conversation with them?

Number of hardcore skeptics in the USA has doubled to 25%. This is real bad news for the warmistas. I reckon these are actually now “deniahs” LOL
http://time.com/71697/poll-global-warming-climate-change-earth-day/
THis is simply going to keep on doubling every two years until the AGW warmistas will be a small looney fringe of 2-3% of the total population. It will then surely be possible to bring to trial those that have purposely induced scientist to fraudently “fiddle” the books/records LOL

But, you see, after I use an electrical hand dryer, I STILL have to use a handkerchief or a dishtowel or a paper towel (or Pamela’s shirt) to actually get my hands dry!
Now, in the winter, at least I am heating up the restroom (and its surrounding building) while running the Presidential speech-maker through its endless cycles of “trying-dry-my-hands” we are from the government and we-are-here-to-help-you while-blowing-noisy-air-at-dangerous-decibel-levels-into-your-ears. But in the summer, I am heating the air in the building that has to be re-cooled by electricity in the air conditioner …

I agree with the hot air metaphor, but our President sprinkles all his speeches with platitudes, misdirection, half truths and outright lies. Hand driers at least do what they claim they will do, although in an unsatisfactory, slow and noisy manner. I would vote for the hand drier over Obama any day.

I am not sure what you are referring to
but if I had said (somewhere) that climate was part of the design by the Creator, yes, then I plead guilty. It is, whether you believe it or not. If you are referring to a private e-mail, of mine,
then I was merely trying to make you understand your own subtitle, (of the name of this website)
which clearly leaves openings to scientific subjects other than climate.
Did you actually watch the video that I asked you check?

Yes, pretty much near 100% of all CAGW believers are hypocrites. And they show up here at WUWT on a regular basis.

April 22, 2014 11:58 am

Frank K. “Yes, pretty much near 100% of all CAGW believers are hypocrites.”
No doubt you were not completely serious about the “100%” and would admit that some significant percentage, reacting to what “the scientists” say without having much wherewithal to question “the science,” are sincere.
But I’ll take this opportunity to observe that despite my experience with the news media regarding things of which I’m intimately familiar I still find myself from time to time accepting uncritically what I read in the paper. People who don’t have that experience (which many of us lacked well into adulthood), people who are not familiar with scientists, and people who haven’t had much experience with the output of scientific journals are all particularly vulnerable to the kind of indoctrination abroad these days. Indeed, my guess is that even most scientists actually base their beliefs in this area only on what other scientists say. Add to that the fact that this is not a subject most people are likely to spend much time on, and it’s actually rather remarkable that skepticism has gotten as far as it has.
Yes, one suspects considerable hypocrisy among many if not most of the more-vocal catastrophic-anthropogenic-global-warming proponents, but to me it would hardly be surprising to find that most rank-and-file believers are sincere.

When one watches some tired hack on the platform….one often has a curious feeling that one is not watching a live human being but some kind of dummy…..The appropriate noises are coming out of his larynx, but his brain is not involved……..If the speech he is making is one that he is accustomed to make over and over again, he may be almost unconscious of what he is saying…..
Political language…..is designed to make lies sound truthful…….and to give an appearance of solidity to pure wind.

How higher temps from global warming helps eradicate poverty.
http://www.theguardian.com/soc
“The world is witnessing a epochal ‘global rebalancing’ with higher growth in at least 40 poor countries helping lift hundreds of millions out of poverty and into a new ‘global middle class’. Never in history have the living conditions and prospects of so many people changed so dramatically and so fast.”
The report, by Oxford University’s poverty and human development initiative, predicts that countries among the most impoverished in the world could see acute poverty eradicated within 20 years if they continue at present rates”

I think you missed the point, the post is also tagged under ‘Humor, Politics and Satire’, I actually thought you were trying to be humorous inferring a picture of a hot air dryer in a washroom was “toilet humor” rather than the inference that the president giving a short speech about ‘global warming’ would likely be a load of hot air while handwaving.
Get out much?

Print the message on a shipping label with a label printer. That way you won’t “deface” public property. (And you’ll be able to affix your message more quickly, and have no guilty evidence in your pocket afterwards.)

April 23, 2014 9:55 am

@Hot under the collar
I think between the lines, the discussion is actually about what an appropriate subject is for discussion, Anthony seemingly banning all religious-scientific discussions whereas promoting toilet humor (=anything, especially graffiti, that comes out of a toilet)
I wrote a letter to BO telling him no to worry about global warming, because there isn’t any.
Obviously I never received an answer because it got caught between him and me by a myriad of “assistants”
But what if there were a 100 or a 1000 letters, initiated by all those who frequent WUWT? Giving their own account as to why there is no global warming. From all over the world? That might attract some reaction from the white house?

April 23, 2014 7:46 pm

Henry – here’s one for you – while POTUS is hemming and hawing about Keystone, the railways have more than doubled their capacity to 170,000 barrels a day going south from Canada with a lot more expansion planned. By the time POTUS is gone, it could be that the total capacity is going to already being shipped by rail. (in fact, the Canadian gov. just passed a bill to force the Rail companies to haul grain, wonder why?) The State Department was correct in their initial assessment that Keystone would not result in additional CO2 and the oil would be produced anyway. Rail transport of course produces more CO2 and is less safe. But the end result is that when the current POTUS is gone (and many of us in Canada assume that it won’t be approved until he is gone) the next administration will approve it meaning that there will be a LOT more oil shipping capacity – so the delay, contrary to what the Eco-Fringe is promoting – the delay will result in an INCREASE in production. Ah, the land of unintended consequences.
