Actually the bulk of Gore Sr.’s money came from Armand Hammer in the 50’s and 60’s, and Hammer of course was the front man for all Soviet interests in the west for that period.

I admit freely that most of the science is too hard to follow, I am not trained. But I have done many a fraud investigation, and I can smell BS from a distance. I also have a sense for politics, especially political frauds. Smoke and mirrors and demonising the opposition clearly suggests somebody is hiding something. It’s not proof, but it’s a lead.
In a similar vein Suzuki was on Australian TV last night, and actually suggested that climate skeptical politicians should be locked up. The authoritarianism they display scares me a little, and angers me a bit more. Even if they are right, which I doubt, I do not wish to see them dominating the debate. But the more they play the man, and not the ball, the less credibility they have. You don’t need to be scientifically trained to work that out.
I dont find this surprising at all. I have debated people on this for years, thus far it always devolves into calls to authority and name calling if you post to much data they cant refute that tears apart aspects of the theory or claimed dangers associated with AGW. Besides gore has done this before.
This is really about all the catastrophic AGW folks have left honestly, the data certainly doesnt support their stance in any way we should be concerned about or build global taxation to fight.

I read somewhere recently, and I’m kicking myself for not keeping the link, because it was a very powerful and well written article, that this was perhaps the personification of the Devil and Hell in the old days. Governments around the world need to get there finances in order asap. Start by independant statsitical audits of their climate science departments and academia that supports this pseudo-science through grant funding. Declare any grant funding of AGW missappropriation of public funds. Conduct a financial audit on all outgoing managers who supported AGW through grants. To recoup public funds, SUBTRACT total public funds used to support AGW directed by managers from the pensions of those managers.
Al Gore can only make news when it’s the horrible, disgusting, sordid type.

Nothing pisses me off lately than people who claim that the recent Rim fire in California is a sign of global warming. California receives very i rain during the summer, and hasn’t for eons. A century of putting out fires, and severe restrictions on logging have built up fuel loads in California forests that when a fire starts they burn with very destructive intensity.
Al Gore is great at throwing out unsubstaniated and freightening claims.
The comedy is that Algore is skeptical about the evidence that humans are NOT the main cause of GW/climate change/climate chaos and therefore by his own reasoning he is all of the above.
Or he is running low other peoples money so he preaches to those that have wealth guilt and lets them relieve that guilt by donations to whatever his cause de jour is.
Misguided, self-centered do-gooders end up costing us a bunch of wasted time and resources, needlessly causing panic, and poisoning the minds of public-education school children.

My average solar parameter theory states if these solar parameters are attained folllowing several years of sub-solar activity in general the temperature trend is going to be down. Sub solar activity in general started in year 2005.
THEY ARE:
solar flux avg. sub 90.
solar wind speed avg. sub 350 km/sec.
ap index avg. sub 5.0 some spikes the other 1% of the time.
cosmic ray count per min. north of 6500.
e 10.7 flux avg. sub 100.
solar irradiance avg. off .015% or more.
This over a duration of time of 3 plus years.
Some Secondary effects
A more meridional atmospheric circulation due to ozone distribution changes in the stratosphere due to very low EUV light values. In turn a more meridional atmospheric circulation will result in more clouds, precip., and snow cover for the N.H. Colder temperatures ,increase in albedo.
Low solar wind will result in an increase in galactic cosmic rays (also have to take into account the strength of earth’s magnetic field, which when weak will compound solar effects) which will result in an increase in clouds ,lower temperatures.
Weak solar irradiance will result in weaker amounts of visible light penetrating the ocean surface ,result will be lower ocean heat content.
Low ap index with spikes will promote more volcanic activity as will an increase in galactic cosmic rays ,many studies have shown. Mr. Casey of the Space and Science Center has research in support of this.
An increase in volcanic activity if high latitude will contribute to warming the stratosphere in the higher latitudes resulting in a more meridional atmospheric circulation pattern, while at the same time cool the surface of the earth due to so2 particles reflecting incoming sunlight.
Some speculate that the cold phase of the PDO( more la ninas ,less el ninos) is tied into prolonged solar activity ,due to rotational changes in the earth ,due to an increase in gelogical activity.
That is my basic take, easily falsified if the solar parameters I said are reached and the climate does not show a decline in the temperature trend.
They know they have lost, but their jangling cognitive dissonance is being addressed with anger and a childish rage to call people nasty names.
It will get worse before it gets better. Their world view and pseudo religion Gaia worship is cracking beneath their feet and it takes humans time to handle changes of this magnitude.

Al Dork’s wealth is now coming from fees gathered as he manages the investments of Really Big Investors.
To cut to the chase, just go Google “Generation Investment Management, LLC” and see what this investment management company does, and who runs it.

Gore is one of two people who are the leaders of an investment firm, GIM.
They find individuals and organizations who are interested in investing over five million$ in “responsible” investments.
A great portion of these large investors are governmental entities; they are county, state, and federal governments who have pension obligations.
Why would a state want to invest in “responsible,” green investments, rather than just whatever will make the most money?
Because they are getting persuaded and pressured to invest in this manner.
By whom?
I don’t know, totally. Go ask them. But I know one leading advocate: the United Nations.
Go look up “UNPRI,” “United Nations Principles of Responsible Investing.”
The UN is going from country to country and persuading their governments to make a political commitment: commit to put your pension funds in “green” investments.
How do you persuade a nation to make such an investment?
They will invest if they believe the return on investment is there. One way to anticipate a good ROI is this: “Get in on the ground floor.”
This is the sales pitch: commit to be a “green” nation, and at the same time, commit to PRI – get in on the ground floor. The companies you invest in will be making money like crazy if most nations sign on to UNPRI. The more nations sign on, the more that the ‘green’ phenomena hits critical mass, and becomes an established business sector.
Providing returns.
So, each little country agrees to a pass-through (tax your citizens) expense: go green.
You will get the return on investment for your huge pensions fund.
That is Al Dork’s business: investment advising.
To any visitors, including journalists and greens: ask yourself this: how does an investment manager make money? They get a thin slice of the pie.
GIM manages over 5 billion in investments. One ten-thousandth of that is $50K, our U.S. median income. So, if Gore makes one ten thousandth per year on the investments, or some similarly preposterously small yield on returns, he is making the median income.
One order of magnitude greater, and he is making ten times the avg U.S. income. Twice that, and he breaks the Ben & Jerry formula.
Anyone here who knows how investment management works will confirm that Al Dork is making big big money managing this investment fund.

In other words, he is quite biased by his personal economic interests. Very biased. Sadly, plenty do fear or hate gays. I was talking to a seemingly rational, close friend of my brother some years ago when he conversationally mentioned how he and his friends, when they were young, would go out on the weekends and enjoy gay bashing.

At this point they have given up on persuading anyone are are focused on simply trying to retain their base of support. They aren’t really aiming these remarks at skeptics, it is a veiled message to their own choir that they must remain in line or they will be akin to racists, homophobes, and alcoholics. Language like this does not reach the skeptical community, it alienates them. That means they have given up on persuasion. This language is aimed at the people sitting in the audience to prevent the hemorrhage of support that the whole climate fleecing is experiencing. They’re desperate, they have millions of dollars personally at stake.
The way Algore and the rest of the alarmist arschlochen have been evading debate and scuttling for cover since Climategate broke in November 2009, it hasn’t been possible to observe them directly as they’re fired upon.

On a lighter note, Boulder County, Colorado is home to a significant marijuana industry as well as Kevin Trenberth. Almost all of the product is grown indoors under climate controlled conditions. The producers control the light, humidity and temperature. Also, they control the CO2 levels. It is well known that optimal growing conditions during the blooming part of the cycle are in the neighborhood of 1500 ppm rather than the outdoors level of 300-400 ppm.
When the medical marijuana industry first took off several years ago, one entrepreneur started a business selling the equipment to monitor and control the CO2 levels in the various warehouses around the county that housed these new facilities. As I understand, he made a good living doing installations for a while.
Elevated CO2 levels produce better buds. Having the electricity go out in Boulder County has reduced the output of the industry due to climate control problems.

BTW, re: Code Tech, (I may be wrong, but, I think I know him well enough to at least attempt this clarification) just so you can realize he’s one of the good guys, did not mean to say that there is no one who is unkind or hateful toward gays; he only meant that to be tired of gay-promotion (ya gotta admit, there are some real exhibitionists in that bunch) is not to be afraid, or “phobic,” about them. So, yes, your point about the mean guys stands (and some of them may be mean out of a phobia), but, Code Tech has a valid point. There are people who are just tired of hearing about the issue (as Code Tech asserted), who would prefer to just quietly live-and-let-live (including many gay people themselves), with no more bellowing “Hands Off!” in-your-face promotion, and they don’t like being called “homophobe” (or, I suppose, in the case of the gays, an “Uncle Tom” gay) for holding that position.

And I am sure you truly believes that carbon dioxide is the primary cause of AGW and that it is a crisis. On a serious note now: There are many very poor people around the world without access to electricity, potable water, enough food etc. Their last concern is about the trace rise of the trace gas co2 (which has been greening the planet over the last several decades). None of the dire predictions of CAGW hypothesis are occurring. It’s only a matter of time before this failed theory has to be abandoned by the scientific community or it risks losing any semblance of integrity and subsequently future funding for real science.

I see it as a sales pitch: put a price on carbon so someone (most likely Al Gore and friends) can profit from it.
Put a price on carbon and then industries that pay that price can’t compete globally against companies that don’t pay that same price. All we do is move the emissions over shore but it allows us to feel like we’re doing something.

THE 9 FALSIFICATIONS IN “AN INCONVENIENT TRUTH”
Al Gore’s sequel will be less fact-based than “An Inconvenient Truth”. This is worrying given that the British courts identified 9 falsifications in his first documentary.
For the record, here are the 9 “Incorrect Truths”
1) Mr Gore claims that a sea-level rise of up to 20 feet would be caused by melting of either West Antarctica or Greenland “in the near future”. The judge said: “This is distinctly alarmist and part of Mr Gore’s “wake-up call”. He agreed that if Greenland melted it would release this amount of water – “but only after, and over, millennia”. “The Armageddon scenario he predicts, insofar as it suggests that sea level rises of seven metres might occur in the immediate future, is not in line with the scientific consensus.”
2) The film claims that low-lying inhabited Pacific atolls “are being inundated because of anthropogenic global warming”, but the judge ruled there was no evidence of any evacuation having yet happened.
3) The documentary speaks of global warming “shutting down the Ocean Conveyor” – the process by which the Gulf Stream is carried over the North Atlantic to western Europe. Citing the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), the judge said that it was “very unlikely” that the Ocean Conveyor, also known as the Meridional Overturning Circulation, would shut down in the future, though it might slow down.
4) Mr Gore claims that two graphs, one plotting a rise in C02 and the other the rise in temperature over a period of 650,000 years, showed “an exact fit”. The judge said that, although there was general scientific agreement that there was a connection, “the two graphs do not establish what Mr Gore asserts”. A closer look at Gore’s chart would reveal that CO2 levels increased after climate temperatures rose, not before.
5) Mr Gore says the disappearance of snow on Mt Kilimanjaro was directly attributable to global warming, but the judge ruled that it scientists have not established that the recession of snow on Mt Kilimanjaro is primarily attributable to human-induced climate change. It is actually due to deforestation lower down which alters the local mini-climate so that snow and ice can’t form at higher elevations on the mountain.
6) The film contends that the drying up of Lake Chad is a prime example of a catastrophic result of global warming but the judge said there was insufficient evidence, and that “it is apparently considered to be far more likely to result from other factors, such as population increase and over-grazing, and regional climate variability”.
7) Mr Gore blames Hurricane Katrina and the consequent devastation in New Orleans on global warming, but the judge ruled there was “insufficient evidence to show that”.
8) Mr Gore cites a scientific study that shows, for the first time, that polar bears were being found after drowning from “swimming long distances – up to 60 miles – to find the ice.” The judge said: “The only scientific study that either side before me can find is one which indicates that four polar bears have recently been found drowned because of a storm”. That was not to say there might not in future be drowning-related deaths of bears if the trend of regression of pack ice continued – “but it plainly does not support Mr Gore’s description”. Note: polar bears can swim for a week without harm.
9) Mr Gore said that coral reefs all over the world were being bleached because of global warming and other factors. Again citing the IPCC, the judge agreed that, if temperatures were to rise by 1-3 degrees centigrade, there would be increased coral bleaching and mortality, unless the coral could adapt. However, he ruled that separating the impacts of stresses due to climate change from other stresses, such as over-fishing, and pollution was difficult.
The hypocrisy of this man is astounding! Sell your house at the beach, cycle to work and stop flying around the planet and maybe some of us might believe that you take this as seriously as you want us to. Otherwise stop yibbering.
Trouble is that there are millions (hundreds of millions?) of people out there who actually think the same way as this clown.
Actually he is a dangerous clown. The sceptics seem to be winning the intellectual debate but not the political battle for hearts and minds. The fact that this man – who is very influential – can speak like this suggests to me that things are hotting up (no pun intended) in the carbon wars.
At the risk of being accused by failed academics of being paranoid, with the White house generally in support of the view expressed by Gore, it doesn’t take much of a leap of imagination to postulate that if the argument cannot be won with facts and scientific rigour, it will be won using different weapons.

Sometimes it’s odd to see how a thread wanders when you don’t check it all day… so I’ll wander into wandering territory.
Honestly, I don’t think there are many people or groups you could say I “hate”, but I hold many beliefs and belong to several groups that subject ME to “hate” on a daily basis. I usually just ignore it, because “hate” is for small minds.
I’ve had people scream right in my face for daring to disbelieve “97% of scientists”. Yep. Genuine hate for my lack of belief in what I perceive as a faith-based cult.
I’ve had people immediately jump to ridiculous conclusions about my politics and personal beliefs because I happen to be a conservative, and member of the Conservative Party of Canada. I usually, calmly, attempt to explain why they are the victims of misinformation. No, I’m not a racist. No, I don’t believe that banning abortions would be a good thing. No, I don’t believe we can indiscriminately pollute our air and water. No, I don’t think that everyone I disagree with is a communist attempting to destroy my society. You get the idea.
Every time I see someone attempting to foment “hate” with a stirring speech, whether it’s a fundamentalist roaming minister (who is probably roaming because no church would stand to have him as their own), a radical vegan, a gay activist, or a rabid environmentalist, I know they have instantly lost the majority. The majority of people in our civilization do NOT think we’re ruining everything, that the planet is in jeopardy, that homosexuality is destroying everything, that a bit of nudity on TV will immediately corrupt our children and destroy our morality, or that we need to change our entire way of life for someone’s pet belief.
Most name-calling falls right off of me. When I was in school I was a grade ahead, which meant I was usually the smallest kid in my class, and skinny. I was constantly called “gay”, “homo”, etc because apparently only skinny white kids a size smaller than the rest are gay. Somehow, this attitude is still out there. I find it entertaining, since a quick trip to a gay bar would quickly erase this stereotype. And yes, I’ve gone to gay bars with several of my girlfriends. It’s not the end of the world.
What I do object to is people putting their beliefs into action. I don’t agree with “normalizing” homosexuality, which is what has happened at an accelerated pace in the last few decades. Ask any teen today, they will tell you that some outrageously high percentage of people in the world are “gay” and it’s completely normal. But guess what? I’m not trying to change it. I just disagree with it. And I don’t need to know someone is “gay” any more than I need to know details about bedroom activities of anyone else. Unfortunately, some people think I need to know it.
All of these environmental activists that have spoken out against “skeptics” as though we are evil, or contemptible, or doing something wrong have lost. Simply, they have lost their argument. We win. I don’t in any way think that climate “scientists” should be subjected to anything greater than legal accountability for demonstrably faulty science. If they’re on the public teat then falsification should result in termination, and possibly charges. But unlike their side, I don’t think the masses should string them up with piano wire in public squares, or blow them up with big red buttons, or publicly shame them when they walk down sidewalks, or any of the other outrageous things we’ve heard them suggest.
But this fight is not about the Science, since skeptics win that one hands down. The fight is against a complicit media, an unbelievably well financed environmental front, and it is for the hearts and minds of the kids we send to school. I got a new HD tuner in my computer room and have been watching NatGeo and Discovery World the last few weeks, and it astounds me how they work in a “climate change” angle to almost every show.
The idea is to “normalize” the idea, and it becomes “common knowledge” within a generation. This is a socialist method of controlling messages and altering behavior. The only way to fight it is to educate those around you whenever you have the chance, or become part of the media and send a contrary message. Apparently our side is not even remotely as well financed, contrary to their inane claims, because the bottom bottom line of all of this is money.
So there’s my rant. And I’m sorry because whenever I see al-Gore (or his minions) bloviating as if he has some sort of moral high ground I get angry. Not because it’s al-Gore, but because I know for an absolute fact that these people DON’T BELIEVE WHAT THEY’RE SAYING. It’s kinda like being arrested for public drunkenness by a drunk cop. Hypocrisy is the one thing that I will freely admit I “HATE”. And I think that makes me a lot like most people.

AFA the heat hiding in the ocean: ok, in the meanwhile, what is all that additional CO2 being added to the air doing? Are they suggesting that the oceans would be cooling the earth if the rise in CO2 had been stopped? Considering the heat content of the ocean compared to the air, if there were a mechanism transferring the heat to the oceans, then we should be safe from further temp rise for a few hundred years.
