Social Good Summit turns to hatefest – Al Gore likens skeptics to racists, homophobes and violent alcoholics

The “Social Good” summit in NYC going on today bills itself as:

A three-day conference where big ideas meet new media to create innovative solutions.

The Social Good Summit is a three-day conference where big ideas meet new media to create innovative solutions. Held during UN Week from September 22-24, the Social Good Summit unites a dynamic community of global leaders to discuss a big idea: the power of innovative thinking and

technology to solve our greatest challenges. The most innovative technologists, influential minds and passionate activists will come together with one shared goal: to unlock the potential of new media and technology to make the world a better place, and then to translate that potential into action.

But it seems that thanks to warmists Al Gore and former Senator Tim Wirth (the guy who turned off the air conditioning and opened the windows at Hansen’s global warming hearing in June 1988) it has become a hatefest against climate skeptics.

Video follows:

Then Tim Wirth had this to say during the live video feed:

“Skeptics are ‘truly evil people”

Wow, I wonder if these guys realize how unhinged they sound in the current dynamic?

It actually makes sense when you understand their definition of Good and Evil.
In Al Gore’s world, Good = Anything he thinks, or does, or says, or anything his friends think, or say, or do.
Evil = anything that people he doesn’t like think, or say, or do.
It’s very simple, really. Since he is by definition, “Good”, anything he does is Good even though some of you troglodytes out there might say it looks like a Bad Thing. Also, anything his critics do is by definition “Evil” before they even think it, because they are Bad People and Bad People only do Bad Things.
this is your key to understanding liberal morality, in a nutshell.

Its the use of such silly and illogicality insults and the need to paint unbelievers not as just wrong but mad or bad , as much as anything else , that tells us how little this is about the science. For there is no scientific approach worth a dam that calls for such, ideas In politics and religion lots, but in science none .

Actually the bulk of Gore Sr.’s money came from Armand Hammer in the 50’s and 60’s, and Hammer of course was the front man for all Soviet interests in the west for that period.
The FBI opened an investigation of Armand Hammer for being a Soviet Agent, but – this is a shockah -Al Gore, Sr. used his influence in Washington to get the investigation completely shut down. Imagine that.

Speaking of Social Good, did you know that Al Gore has done important work in Comparative Mythology, in which a new Gaia religion is needed in order to save the planet?

“Al Gore, in his book Earth in the Balance, echoes this view “Prehistoric Europe and much of the world was based on the worship of a single earth goddess, who was assumed to be the fount of all life and who radiated harmony among all living things. Much of the evidence for the existence of this primitive religion comes from the many thousands of artifacts uncovered in ceremonial sites. These sites are so widespread that they seem to confirm the notion that a goddess religion was ubiquitous through much of the world until the antecedents of today’s religions, most of which still have a distinctly masculine orientation…swept out of India and the Near East, almost obliterating belief in the goddess. The last vestige of organized goddess worship was eliminated by Christianity as late as the fifteenth century in Lithuania.”
Gore then quotes deChardin, “‘The fate of mankind, as well as of religion, depends upon the emergence of a new faith in the future.’ Armed with such a faith, we might find it possible to resanctify the earth…” ” http://www.green-agenda.com/gaia.html

So just remember, Al Gore loves you and has a beautiful plan for your life.

September 23, 2013 1:57 pm

This is what Algore had to say about technology in his book. Earth in the Balance….
Page 207
We have also fallen victim to a kind of technological hubris, which tempts us to believe that our new powers may be unlimited. We dare to imagine that we will find technological solutions for every technologically induced problem. It is as if civilization stands in awe of its own technological prowess, entranced by the wondrous and unfamiliar power it never dreamed would be accessible to mortal man. In a modern version of the Greek myth, our hubris tempts us to appropriate for ourselves—not from the gods but from science and technology—awesome powers and to demand from nature godlike privileges to indulge our Olympian appetite for more.
About Denialism (i.e. anyone who does not agree with him)
Page 233
The psychological mechanism of denial is complex, but again addiction serves as a model. Denial is the strategy used by those who wish to believe that they can continue their addicted lives with no ill effects for themselves and others. Alcoholics, for example, aggressively dismiss suggestions that their relationship to alcohol is wreaking havoc in their lives; repeated automobile crashes involving the same drunk driver are explained away in an alcoholic’s mind as isolated accidents, each with a separate, unrelated cause. (that’s us folks)
This kind of crap from Gore is not new. His hysterical rants are part of the schtick that he learned while failing at Vanderbilt.

I admit freely that most of the science is too hard to follow, I am not trained. But I have done many a fraud investigation, and I can smell BS from a distance. I also have a sense for politics, especially political frauds. Smoke and mirrors and demonising the opposition clearly suggests somebody is hiding something. It’s not proof, but it’s a lead.
In a similar vein Suzuki was on Australian TV last night, and actually suggested that climate skeptical politicians should be locked up. The authoritarianism they display scares me a little, and angers me a bit more. Even if they are right, which I doubt, I do not wish to see them dominating the debate. But the more they play the man, and not the ball, the less credibility they have. You don’t need to be scientifically trained to work that out.

I dont find this surprising at all. I have debated people on this for years, thus far it always devolves into calls to authority and name calling if you post to much data they cant refute that tears apart aspects of the theory or claimed dangers associated with AGW. Besides gore has done this before.
This is really about all the catastrophic AGW folks have left honestly, the data certainly doesnt support their stance in any way we should be concerned about or build global taxation to fight.

Lithuanian archaeologist Gimbutas’ Goddess hypothesis has been savaged by non-feminist colleagues like Anthony, Fleming, Ucko & Wailes, including women such as Gere (Knossos & the Prophets of Modernism, 2009). What a sick sales job from one of our country’s former leaders… no wonder we are sinking into the mire.
I heard Al Gore give his sincere thanks to United Nations (for the millions he has made) and his CEO’s, companies, organizations, institutions, governments, agencies, but not once did he mention you and me in the real world, the public, except inferred as the masses, and besides most of what he spoke is blatantly scientifically wrong, his mind stuck on nothing but heat, heat, heat. Makes me sick. Hey a..hole Al Gore, the temperature has not changed now for seventeen long years, there is no heat, heat, heat, and likely it will be become thirty years if not a cooling, you wake up. Gore’s fortune has an interesting history. Gore Jr. benefited from Gore, Sr.
Gore, Jr. was born with the silver spoon in his mouth.
Gore, Sr. was not. Gore, Sr’s fortune was established by Armand Hammer.
Armand Hammer’s fortune was established by – get this – selling things such as pencils to the Soviet Union which the Communist system was failing to produce for itself.
Let’s face it: if your five-year plan, in the face of bountiful natural resources, fails to provide a supply of pencils worthy of your state bureaucrats, your econo-political system does not work.

Nothing pisses me off lately than people who claim that the recent Rim fire in California is a sign of global warming. California receives very i rain during the summer, and hasn’t for eons. September 23, 2013 3:21 pm

The truth will ALWAYS come out sooner or later.
Below is my theory which I feel will be proven correct before the decade ends, while AGW theory will be proven wrong.
My average solar parameter theory states if these solar parameters are attained folllowing several years of sub-solar activity in general the temperature trend is going to be down. Sub solar activity in general started in year 2005.
THEY ARE:
solar flux avg. sub 90.
solar wind speed avg. sub 350 km/sec.
ap index avg. sub 5.0 some spikes the other 1% of the time.
cosmic ray count per min. north of 6500.
e 10.7 flux avg. sub 100.
solar irradiance avg. off .015% or more.
This over a duration of time of 3 plus years.
Some Secondary effects
A more meridional atmospheric circulation due to ozone distribution changes in the stratosphere due to very low EUV light values. In turn a more meridional atmospheric circulation will result in more clouds, precip., and snow cover for the N.H. Colder temperatures ,increase in albedo.
Low solar wind will result in an increase in galactic cosmic rays (also have to take into account the strength of earth’s magnetic field, which when weak will compound solar effects) which will result in an increase in clouds ,lower temperatures.
Weak solar irradiance will result in weaker amounts of visible light penetrating the ocean surface ,result will be lower ocean heat content.
Low ap index with spikes will promote more volcanic activity as will an increase in galactic cosmic rays ,many studies have shown. Mr. Casey of the Space and Science Center has research in support of this.
An increase in volcanic activity if high latitude will contribute to warming the stratosphere in the higher latitudes resulting in a more meridional atmospheric circulation pattern, while at the same time cool the surface of the earth due to so2 particles reflecting incoming sunlight.
Some speculate that the cold phase of the PDO( more la ninas ,less el ninos) is tied into prolonged solar activity ,due to rotational changes in the earth ,due to an increase in gelogical activity.
That is my basic take, easily falsified if the solar parameters I said are reached and the climate does not show a decline in the temperature trend.

THE TRUTH ABOUT AL GORE
Or: How to $ave the Planet and Make Billion$ in the Proce$$
Al Gore spent his whole political career working for Occidental Oil. He was supposed to be the United States Senator from Tennessee. His father was known as “the Senator from Occidental”. He is now in business with Goldman Sachs.
Gore does not have one honest strand of DNA in his body. Al Gore’s family is linked to corrupt oilman the late Armand Hammer. Why the Vice President knows so much about Russia: tycoon Armand Hammer had the politician’s father “in his back pocket”.
http://www.independent.co.uk/news/world/americas/al-gores-family-linked-to-corrupt-oilman-716413.html
Gore is worth $100 million.
http://abcnews.go.com/GMA/story?id=3281925
Al Gore lies to Congress: — “Goldman who?”
http://greenhellblog.wordpress.com/2009/04/27/al-gore-lies-to-congress-part-2-goldman-who/
March 6 (Bloomberg) — Former U.S. Vice President Al Gore left the White House seven years ago with less than $2 million in assets, including a Virginia home and the family farm in Tennessee. Now he’s making enough to put $35 million in hedge funds and other private partnerships.
http://www.bloomberg.com/apps/news?pid=20601087&sid=a7li9Nhmhvg0&refer=home
Gore has made significant investments in “environmentally friendly” projects like carbon trading markets, solar power, biofuels, electric vehicles, sustainable fish farming and waterless toilets. He has also invested in non-climate change related investments, including putting money into Google and Apple.
Gore says it is “certainly not true” that he was going to become a “carbon billionaire” and that the suggestion came from global warming “deniers”. He said: “I am proud to put my money where my mouth is for the past 30 years. And though that is not the majority of my business activities, I absolutely believe in investing in accordance with my beliefs and my values”.
One company in which Al Gore invested has contracts with utilities that received a combined subsidy of $560m (£340m) from the US energy department. The New York Times points out that one company in which Gore invested, Silver Spring Networks, has contracts with utilities that last week received a combined subsidy of $560m (£340m) from the US energy department. The payments, part of a total $3.4bn handed out by the federal government to encourage the distribution of environmentally-friendly power, are likely to be handsomely recouped by Gore and his associates.
The accusation that Gore is trapped in a conflict of interest has been raised periodically over the past few years. It is a barb popular among climate change skeptics and right-wing bloggers, as well as Republican politicians. Marsha Blackburn, a congressional representative from Gore’s home state of Tennessee, tackled him over the issue in April 2009 during a subcommittee debate in Congress on the Obama administration’s proposed cap-in-trade system for curbing emissions.
She referred to Gore’s partnership of Kleiner Perkins Caufield and Byers, a Californian venture capital company that has put about $1bn into about 40 companies that will be bidding for contracts under the new system. One of Gore’s partners at Kleiner Perkins Caufield and Byers is John Doerr, who advises Barack Obama on dealing with the economic downturn. “Is the legislation we are discussing here today something you are going to benefit personally from?” she asked.
Gore, audibly riled, replied that every penny he made from his investments was put back into his non-profit foundation to spread knowledge about the climate challenge. “If you believe that the reason I have been working on this issue for 30 years is because of greed, you don’t know me,” he said, adding: “Do you think there’s something wrong with being active in business in this country? I am proud of it.”
But global warming skeptics are not convinced. Marc Morano of climatedepot.com said: “Al Gore wants to become the first carbon billionaire and he is poised to do it. As much as Gore’s made now, it is going to be a piker league compared to what he is going to make in five years if all these new carbon trading mandates go through”.
Gore is also a founder of Generation Investment Management, based in London, which has substantial interests in green technology.
A large proportion of the world’s political elites have fallen for the AGW fraud. Is there a precedence for this? Yes, they bailed out the banks without question. The same people who stand to make a fortune from a global warming tax aka “carbon trading”.
And who invented carbon trading?
Ken Lay (Enron), Al Gore (Occidental Oil), and Lord Browne (BP).
Gore, along with Maurice Strong and Obama set up the privately-owned Chicago Climate Exchange, which now calls itself “North America’s only cap and trade system for all six greenhouse gases, with global affiliates and projects worldwide”.
There was an Oval Office meeting on August 4, 1997 with Ken Lay, Sir John Browne of BP, and the President and Vice President of the United States. Let’s contemplate the full implications of such a meeting. He didn’t know the guy, but that that kind of orchestration and attention takes serious influence, as revealed by Ken Lay’s briefing memo of August 1, 1997, subsequently aired after some unpleasantness. In this meeting Ken Lay demanded that the Senate be ignored, that the administration agree to Kyoto, and, most importantly, that it contain a cap-and-trade scheme.
http://www.globalwarming.org/2009/04/28/gores-inconvenient-enron/
Enron officials later expressed elation at the results of the Kyoto conference. An internal memo said the Kyoto agreement, if implemented, would “do more to promote Enron’s business than almost any other regulatory initiative outside of restructuring the energy and natural gas industries in Europe and the United States”.

Al Gore’s 40-year marriage ended over wife’s ‘jealous rages’
Al Gore’s 40-year marriage crumbled because of his wife’s jealous rages that he was allegedly having an affair, it was claimed tonight.
The former US presidential candidate separated from Tipper because she suspected he was sleeping with a string of glamorous women.
Rather than her ending the relationship as previously thought, it was he who brought things to an end, according to U.S. reports……….
The reports suggest Tipper, 61, was enraged by speculation her husband was allegedly involved with a Hollywood actress, a massage therapist and women he had had relationships with before meeting her.

No Mr Watts you’ve misunderstood this completely. Clearly you were bamboozled by the use of the word ‘Good’, in this context this word carries only political connotations. Allow me to translate :
“The Social Good Summit is a three-day conference where big ideas meet new media to create innovative solutions”
Translation: The Social Good Summit is a three-day media event opportunity for famous people with planet sized egos to get some publicity, bathe in their own self-importance and practice the verbal equivalent of onanism.
“Held during UN Week from September 22-24, the Social Good Summit unites a dynamic community of global leaders to discuss a big idea: ”
Translation: It coincides with some UN bollix to make it sound more important than it is and it’s for left wing types only.
“the power of innovative thinking and technology to solve our greatest challenges.”
Translation: It’s about global warming.
“The most innovative technologists, influential minds and passionate activists ”
Translation: Only people who are politically slightly to the Left of Fidel Castro need apply.
“will come together with one shared goal: to unlock the potential of new media and technology to make the world a better place, ”
Translation: I-pads and I-phones are compulsory.
“and then to translate that potential into action.”
Translation: It’s all talk and no bottom. It will be in no way productive or at all useful to anyone.

First, I want to apologize to the rest of humanity that my state foisted Algore onto the world. However, I think it needs to be pointed out, in our defense, that we saw through his BS before most and kept him from being elected President. If you can’t win over the voters of your home state, you don’t deserve to be President.
Secondly, since Algore doesn’t really live here anymore (he has 3 or 4 mansions throughout the world), he may not realize that it has been really cold in Tennessee lately. Check out what the temperature record has been:
http://stevengoddard.wordpress.com/2013/09/12/tennessee-summers-have-cooled-dramatically-since-the-1920s/
Thirdly, many Tennesseans think that growing your net worth from a measly million or so from tobacco and oil interests to $300 million off of the backs of the Global Warming hoax is an EVIL thing indeed, especially when your own carbon footprint is ten thousand times the average Tennesean.
We figured this guy out a long time ago. The rest of the world will catch up soon.

Notice how Gore starts his remarks on climate change by specifically referring to the heat now being in the Oceans? Apparently the “heat is in the Ocean” talking points are to anticipate and overcome the objection of the missing warming.

No one has yet noted Al Dork’s day job.
This post may attract a wide audience, so I just want to note this detail – so everyone can explore and be informed. In my experience, few are aware of this humorous factoid.
Al Dork’s wealth is now coming from fees gathered as he manages the investments of Really Big Investors.
To cut to the chase, just go Google “Generation Investment Management, LLC” and see what this investment management company does, and who runs it.
OK: for those who stuck around…
Gore is one of two people who are the leaders of an investment firm, GIM.
They find individuals and organizations who are interested in investing over five million$ in “responsible” investments.
A great portion of these large investors are governmental entities; they are county, state, and federal governments who have pension obligations.
Why would a state want to invest in “responsible,” green investments, rather than just whatever will make the most money?
Because they are getting persuaded and pressured to invest in this manner.
By whom?
I don’t know, totally. Go ask them. But I know one leading advocate: the United Nations.
Go look up “UNPRI,” “United Nations Principles of Responsible Investing.”
The UN is going from country to country and persuading their governments to make a political commitment: commit to put your pension funds in “green” investments.
How do you persuade a nation to make such an investment?
They will invest if they believe the return on investment is there. One way to anticipate a good ROI is this: “Get in on the ground floor.”
This is the sales pitch: commit to be a “green” nation, and at the same time, commit to PRI – get in on the ground floor. The companies you invest in will be making money like crazy if most nations sign on to UNPRI. The more nations sign on, the more that the ‘green’ phenomena hits critical mass, and becomes an established business sector.
Providing returns.
So, each little country agrees to a pass-through (tax your citizens) expense: go green.
You will get the return on investment for your huge pensions fund.
That is Al Dork’s business: investment advising.
To any visitors, including journalists and greens: ask yourself this: how does an investment manager make money? They get a thin slice of the pie.
GIM manages over 5 billion in investments. One ten-thousandth of that is $50K, our U.S. median income. So, if Gore makes one ten thousandth per year on the investments, or some similarly preposterously small yield on returns, he is making the median income.
One order of magnitude greater, and he is making ten times the avg U.S. income. Twice that, and he breaks the Ben & Jerry formula.
Anyone here who knows how investment management works will confirm that Al Dork is making big big money managing this investment fund.
Big money.
In other words, he is quite biased by his personal economic interests. Very biased. This is way beyond the dollar value of the Hollandaer post-doc award given to Michael Mann by the regulators of the oil industry, the Department of Energy (Ken Lay’s employer before he developed and advocated for the global cap-and-trade scheme at Enron).

Sadly, plenty do fear or hate gays. I was talking to a seemingly rational, close friend of my brother some years ago when he conversationally mentioned how he and his friends, when they were young, would go out on the weekends and enjoy gay bashing.
I was pretty surprised and somewhat horrified at the admission and I told him as much, whereupon he literally threw me onto the ground and began a anti gay rant. The change was frightening.
Also, a neighbour who lived at the bottom of my street shot dead a gay man while out on a late night bashing raid. His excuse was he only meant to shoot him (with a shotgun) in the backside.

Idiots covet camaraderie the bonds of consensus, cohesion and liars feed off fellow journeymen and women, egregious nutters like Gore are even worse, it’s known as confirmation bias.
There’s something else too, idiots tend to be exhibitionists and they just cannot help it, when you have an ego the size of a large moon, though everybody else [think human beings living in the real world] then knows what your are, all you have to do and as Albert Arnold Gore often does – is to open the fat mouth and say something, anything will do [see above].

Gore, along with Maurice Strong and Obama set up the privately-owned Chicago Climate Exchange, which now called itself “North America’s only cap and trade system for all six greenhouse gases, with global affiliates and projects worldwide.” Then he sold out for a profit of $15m+, just before the business collapsed.
Who does Maurice Strong work for in Beijing? CH2M Hill. CH2M Hill, a multinational firm providing engineering, construction, operations and related services to public and private clients in numerous industries on six continents.
“…the Canadian born Strong is little known in the United States. That’s because he spends most of his time in China where he he has been working to make the communist country the world’s next superpower. The nondescript Strong, nonetheless is the big cheese in the underworld of climate change and is one of the main architects of the failing Kyoto Protocol.”
http://africanpress.wordpress.com/2009/03/28/the-privately-owned-chicago-climate-exchange-is-heavily-influenced-by-obama-cohorts-al-gore-and-maurice-strong/
Politics is what “global Warming” is all about – politics – used to scare us into doing things that we know will harm us so as to put cash and power in the hands of a few.

GORE FLEES IN PANIC FROM CHICAGO BOOK SIGNING
Snake Oil Salesman Run Out of Town
November 25, 2009 (LPAC)—Not since Henry Kissinger fled a team of LaRouche organizers, in the back of a delivery truck in New York City’s Central Park in the early 1980s, has an obese fascist moved so fast to escape an angry crowd, as Al Gore did today in Chicago. Appearing at a bookstore in the downtown Loop, Gore was confronted by a team of demonstrators from a grass roots group called “We Are Change,” as he was signing his latest fascist screed on the global warming swindle. Gore bolted from the bookstore, raced down an alley, jumped into a waiting car, and tried to speed off, with protesters chasing after him and banging on the car. Midwest LYM organizers, who were also on the scene to confront the global warming swindler, provided an eyewitness account of Fat Albert’s flight of fear.
Make no mistake about it. This little encounter is typical of the kinds of things going on all over the country, as the fascists who brought you the near-destruction of the United States and an onrushing global Dark Age, are no longer walking the streets, smug in the belief that they are literally getting away with murder. The mass strike dynamic is playing out in thousands of ways, every day, and the recent revelations about the “smoking gun” emails from the East Anglia University global warming propaganda center, have made Al Gore’s life a little more miserable.
As Percy Shelley wrote in “The Mask of Anarchy,” “We are many, they are few.”
The “Global Warming” fraud is collapsing.

Al Gore:
* He and his wife live in a 20-room mansion that uses 20 times more electricity than an average American house
* He travels around the world in a private jet. Sure maybe he doesn’t fly it, but the impact is the same.
* He has a toxic waste dump on his family farm. Yes you are reading that correctly; a toxic waste dump.
* He has a Zinc mine on his farm which pollutes the surrounding ground water.
* He bought ocean front property after “Inconvenient Truth” came out.
* He bought a huge house boat that runs with a monster diesel engine.
http://www.surfacestations.org/
* He is reported to be driven around in big SUV style limos and with the engine idling when he is not in the limo to keep the temperature comfortable for when he comes back to it after giving talks on how “everyone needs to do with less.”
This is just the stuff we know about. I can’t imagine he ’survives’ with one measly ocean front vacation property for example. I’d be very surprised if he has less than 5 houses.

September 23, 2013 4:44 pm

At this point they have given up on persuading anyone are are focused on simply trying to retain their base of support. They aren’t really aiming these remarks at skeptics, it is a veiled message to their own choir that they must remain in line or they will be akin to racists, homophobes, and alcoholics. Language like this does not reach the skeptical community, it alienates them. That means they have given up on persuasion. This language is aimed at the people sitting in the audience to prevent the hemorrhage of support that the whole climate fleecing is experiencing. They’re desperate, they have millions of dollars personally at stake.

On a lighter note, Boulder County, Colorado is home to a significant marijuana industry as well as Kevin Trenberth. Almost all of the product is grown indoors under climate controlled conditions. The producers control the light, humidity and temperature. Also, they control the CO2 levels. It is well known that optimal growing conditions during the blooming part of the cycle are in the neighborhood of 1500 ppm rather than the outdoors level of 300-400 ppm.
When the medical marijuana industry first took off several years ago, one entrepreneur started a business selling the equipment to monitor and control the CO2 levels in the various warehouses around the county that housed these new facilities. As I understand, he made a good living doing installations for a while.
Elevated CO2 levels produce better buds. Having the electricity go out in Boulder County has reduced the output of the industry due to climate control problems.

While there are some really nasty people on WUWT, most of those who post here are wonderful, fair-minded, principled, kindhearted, people. Take heart, the decent people outnumber the bad in the world, too. It’s just that the evil ones are so loud.
BTW, re: Code Tech, (I may be wrong, but, I think I know him well enough to at least attempt this clarification) just so you can realize he’s one of the good guys, did not mean to say that there is no one who is unkind or hateful toward gays; he only meant that to be tired of gay-promotion (ya gotta admit, there are some real exhibitionists in that bunch) is not to be afraid, or “phobic,” about them. So, yes, your point about the mean guys stands (and some of them may be mean out of a phobia), but, Code Tech has a valid point. There are people who are just tired of hearing about the issue (as Code Tech asserted), who would prefer to just quietly live-and-let-live (including many gay people themselves), with no more bellowing “Hands Off!” in-your-face promotion, and they don’t like being called “homophobe” (or, I suppose, in the case of the gays, an “Uncle Tom” gay) for holding that position.
Sorry to get so off-topic, but I wanted to both affirm you, Toby — yes, it is an issue of concern — and to reassure you a bit (I hope) — and support Code Tech, one of WUWT’s finest. Glad you are here.

There are many things you could say about Al Gore. He comes over as a Southern Baptist Bible-thumper. And I am sure you truly believes that carbon dioxide is the primary cause of AGW and that it is a crisis. But he does not seem to appreciate the irony of ‘putting a price on carbon’ to avoid the general population paying the price of ‘dirty weather’ , whatever that might be, when they will pay MUCH MUCH more in higher energy costs to line the pockets of wind farm companies. On the other hand, if the law is against you, or doubtful, and the facts show that your case is founded in justice, insist that justice be done though the heavens fall.” “But,” said the young man, “how shall I manage a case where both the law and the facts are dead against me?” “In that case,” replied the old lawyer, “talk around it,” and “the worse it is, the harder you pound the table,” adds a modern commentator.

On a serious note now: There are many very poor people around the world without access to electricity, potable water, enough food etc. Their last concern is about the trace rise of the trace gas co2 (which has been greening the planet over the last several decades). I’ll be damned if I am going to watch bastard hypocrites like Al Gore, Prince Charles, climate scientists, the Hollywood eco-hypocrites etc. not suffer but want the rest of the dirty poor to suffer. This is one of the reasons why I come to WUWT. To do my little bit to fight this bullshit.

Al Gore slams Big Oil and tobacco. Yet he got rich off of Big Oil and tobacco. Even in the co2 discussion world he still got rich indirectly by attacking fossil fuels. What is it about Al Gore that he can’t make money in some other field? Fossil fuels and tobacco is his game. The jig is almost over and he is in a panic because $100,000,000 is not enough. Not enough, while there are families who struggle to get on good meal a day in the developing world. I am so angry.

Homophobe therefore is fear of human beings…please people language has meanings and don’t let ignorance steal that meaning

Ditto your remarks, and besides, they are using a bastardized amalgam of english and greek anyway.

Here is an actual latin phrase that perfectly describes the green eco-Nazi’s … Odium Hominum … But Google’s translator acts like a one-way cipher or a lossy converter. What goes in does not necessarily back out!
What went in … hatred of human beings … ( true description )
What came out … Odium Hominum
Reversing the latter yields … men’s hatred
No wonder it’s a dead-ish language. Note that homophobe and homophobic fare even worse since they are not really latin. Wikipedia has the history of that fake and senseless word.

As the total lack of a global warming trend extends to 18 years, then 19 years, then 20 years, etc., the rhetoric and ad hominem insults from leftist wackos will increase as their failed hypothesis collapses under the weight of empirical evidence.
As they saying goes, “If you can’t pound the facts, pound the table…..”
As a last ditch effort, CAGW cultists are now trying to float their sinking and rudderless boat on OHC. They expect rational people to believe it’s possible for all the imaginary CO2 induced “missing heat” to skip warming: the lower troposphere, surface air and the top 700 meters of oceans and miraculously end up buried deep in the oceans….. Oh, my…..
Once this OHC canard is proven false and absurd, I really don’t see any other option the scientific community has but to formally abandon CAGW theory. It simply doesn’t work and is not supported by empirical evidence.
An El Nino event looks probable in the near future given the sudden spike of Pacific SSTs, but that’ll only buy them a reprieve of a few years, given over 200 months of no warming trend and as the law of large numbers overwhelms any short aberration.
Too many natural cooling climatic forces/realities are converging for this failed theory to continue: falling sunspots from here, PDO in 30-yr cool cycle until about 2038, AMO enters its 30-year cool cycle around 2020, falling solar activity, a possible Grand Solar Minimum starting from 2020, growing polar ice extents, the Svensmark Effect kicks in, severe weather/CO2 correlation falling apart, sea level rise stuck at 8,000-year average (7″/century), etc.
None of the dire predictions of CAGW hypothesis are occurring. It’s only a matter of time before this failed theory has to be abandoned by the scientific community or it risks losing any semblance of integrity and subsequently future funding for real science.
That point of singularity is quickly approaching.

AW allows numerous folks to comment. The end result (hopefully) is that we all end up with more info to build our belief systems.

I see it as a sales pitch: put a price on carbon so someone (most likely Al Gore and friends) can profit from it.
Put a price on carbon and then industries that pay that price can’t compete globally against companies that don’t pay that same price. All we do is move the emissions over shore but it allows us to feel like we’re doing something.

I’m with Sissy. I watched this and at no point did Gore say skeptics are like homophobes or racists. He merely used them as examples of people we have rallied against in society through history and by speaking up we have made their ideas unacceptable. I am completely with him on that. Racism and anti gay sentiment is pure evil. It’s a good thing for society that we are changing peoples bigotry on these issues. His simple message is you can change thinking in society by making a stand. Isn’t that something WUWT and the people who write here believe in? Otherwise why do we have (for example) open letters here for people to sign? Didn’t Monckton have one a couple of days ago rallying the troops against the much publicised 97% consensus?

THE 9 FALSIFICATIONS IN “AN INCONVENIENT TRUTH”
Al Gore’s sequel will be less fact-based than “An Inconvenient Truth”. This is worrying given that the British courts identified 9 falsifications in his first documentary.
For the record, here are the 9 “Incorrect Truths”
1) Mr Gore claims that a sea-level rise of up to 20 feet would be caused by melting of either West Antarctica or Greenland “in the near future”. The judge said: “This is distinctly alarmist and part of Mr Gore’s “wake-up call”. He agreed that if Greenland melted it would release this amount of water – “but only after, and over, millennia”. “The Armageddon scenario he predicts, insofar as it suggests that sea level rises of seven metres might occur in the immediate future, is not in line with the scientific consensus.”
2) The film claims that low-lying inhabited Pacific atolls “are being inundated because of anthropogenic global warming”, but the judge ruled there was no evidence of any evacuation having yet happened.
3) The documentary speaks of global warming “shutting down the Ocean Conveyor” – the process by which the Gulf Stream is carried over the North Atlantic to western Europe. Citing the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), the judge said that it was “very unlikely” that the Ocean Conveyor, also known as the Meridional Overturning Circulation, would shut down in the future, though it might slow down.
4) Mr Gore claims that two graphs, one plotting a rise in C02 and the other the rise in temperature over a period of 650,000 years, showed “an exact fit”. The judge said that, although there was general scientific agreement that there was a connection, “the two graphs do not establish what Mr Gore asserts”. A closer look at Gore’s chart would reveal that CO2 levels increased after climate temperatures rose, not before.
5) Mr Gore says the disappearance of snow on Mt Kilimanjaro was directly attributable to global warming, but the judge ruled that it scientists have not established that the recession of snow on Mt Kilimanjaro is primarily attributable to human-induced climate change. It is actually due to deforestation lower down which alters the local mini-climate so that snow and ice can’t form at higher elevations on the mountain.
6) The film contends that the drying up of Lake Chad is a prime example of a catastrophic result of global warming but the judge said there was insufficient evidence, and that “it is apparently considered to be far more likely to result from other factors, such as population increase and over-grazing, and regional climate variability”.
7) Mr Gore blames Hurricane Katrina and the consequent devastation in New Orleans on global warming, but the judge ruled there was “insufficient evidence to show that”.
8) Mr Gore cites a scientific study that shows, for the first time, that polar bears were being found after drowning from “swimming long distances – up to 60 miles – to find the ice.” The judge said: “The only scientific study that either side before me can find is one which indicates that four polar bears have recently been found drowned because of a storm”. That was not to say there might not in future be drowning-related deaths of bears if the trend of regression of pack ice continued – “but it plainly does not support Mr Gore’s description”. Note: polar bears can swim for a week without harm.
9) Mr Gore said that coral reefs all over the world were being bleached because of global warming and other factors. Again citing the IPCC, the judge agreed that, if temperatures were to rise by 1-3 degrees centigrade, there would be increased coral bleaching and mortality, unless the coral could adapt. However, he ruled that separating the impacts of stresses due to climate change from other stresses, such as over-fishing, and pollution was difficult.

Trouble is that there are millions (hundreds of millions?) of people out there who actually think the same way as this clown.
Actually he is a dangerous clown. The sceptics seem to be winning the intellectual debate but not the political battle for hearts and minds. The fact that this man – who is very influential – can speak like this suggests to me that things are hotting up (no pun intended) in the carbon wars.
At the risk of being accused by failed academics of being paranoid, with the White house generally in support of the view expressed by Gore, it doesn’t take much of a leap of imagination to postulate that if the argument cannot be won with facts and scientific rigour, it will be won using different weapons.

Not hardly. Bear in mind that events such as this “Liberal” fascist AGW convocation are carefully planned propaganda presentations, as rigorously scripted and devoid of heretical contrariness as a televised Sunday morning service at one of those humongous Southern Baptist megachurches out in the Midwest.
There was no more expectation of a skeptic viewpoint being voiced at that “Summit” than there was when the thugs running the Baltimore County School District recently presented their plan to use Common Core standards in the curriculum and suppressed parents’ angry concerns about that program’s pernicious manifestations of leftist political indoctrination.
When it comes to the economic adverse effects of the government thuggery being pushed by the AGW alarmists – not touching “hearts and minds” but plundering people’s wallets and well-being – the climate catastrophists are achieving nothing among the lay public but scornful dismissal and outright hatred.
Like the leftist educrats pushing Common Core, the climate alarmists dare not allow real critique or dissenting opinions in their Ministry of Truth noise-making sessions, because they have to preserve the increasingly tattered illusion that they’ve got anything remotely resembling a winning position in “the political battle for hearts and minds.”
In this regard as in almost every other goddam thing they’re peddling, they’re lying their asses off.

“Put a price on denial”, says Gore, yeah, whatever.
Unfortunately it can only be accomplished in a lawless manner, because “Congress shall make no law […] abridging the freedom of speech […]”.
Therefore Albert Arnold Gore, Jr., 45th Vice President of the United States of America calls for breaking the supreme law of the country on a large scale. Fortunately for him it is his birthright to do so, for “Congress shall make no law […] abridging the freedom of speech […]”.
However, there is no law that would prevent ridiculing him in public for such a convoluted attempt to destroy the very bases of his own proposition. Let’s do that, and loudly.

Sometimes it’s odd to see how a thread wanders when you don’t check it all day… so I’ll wander into wandering territory.
Honestly, I don’t think there are many people or groups you could say I “hate”, but I hold many beliefs and belong to several groups that subject ME to “hate” on a daily basis. I usually just ignore it, because “hate” is for small minds.
I’ve had people scream right in my face for daring to disbelieve “97% of scientists”. Yep. Genuine hate for my lack of belief in what I perceive as a faith-based cult.
I’ve had people immediately jump to ridiculous conclusions about my politics and personal beliefs because I happen to be a conservative, and member of the Conservative Party of Canada. I usually, calmly, attempt to explain why they are the victims of misinformation. No, I’m not a racist. No, I don’t believe that banning abortions would be a good thing. No, I don’t believe we can indiscriminately pollute our air and water. No, I don’t think that everyone I disagree with is a communist attempting to destroy my society. You get the idea.
Every time I see someone attempting to foment “hate” with a stirring speech, whether it’s a fundamentalist roaming minister (who is probably roaming because no church would stand to have him as their own), a radical vegan, a gay activist, or a rabid environmentalist, I know they have instantly lost the majority. The majority of people in our civilization do NOT think we’re ruining everything, that the planet is in jeopardy, that homosexuality is destroying everything, that a bit of nudity on TV will immediately corrupt our children and destroy our morality, or that we need to change our entire way of life for someone’s pet belief.
Most name-calling falls right off of me. When I was in school I was a grade ahead, which meant I was usually the smallest kid in my class, and skinny. I was constantly called “gay”, “homo”, etc because apparently only skinny white kids a size smaller than the rest are gay. Somehow, this attitude is still out there. I find it entertaining, since a quick trip to a gay bar would quickly erase this stereotype. And yes, I’ve gone to gay bars with several of my girlfriends. It’s not the end of the world.
What I do object to is people putting their beliefs into action. I don’t agree with “normalizing” homosexuality, which is what has happened at an accelerated pace in the last few decades. Ask any teen today, they will tell you that some outrageously high percentage of people in the world are “gay” and it’s completely normal. But guess what? I’m not trying to change it. I just disagree with it. And I don’t need to know someone is “gay” any more than I need to know details about bedroom activities of anyone else. Unfortunately, some people think I need to know it.
All of these environmental activists that have spoken out against “skeptics” as though we are evil, or contemptible, or doing something wrong have lost. Simply, they have lost their argument. We win. I don’t in any way think that climate “scientists” should be subjected to anything greater than legal accountability for demonstrably faulty science. If they’re on the public teat then falsification should result in termination, and possibly charges. But unlike their side, I don’t think the masses should string them up with piano wire in public squares, or blow them up with big red buttons, or publicly shame them when they walk down sidewalks, or any of the other outrageous things we’ve heard them suggest.
But this fight is not about the Science, since skeptics win that one hands down. The fight is against a complicit media, an unbelievably well financed environmental front, and it is for the hearts and minds of the kids we send to school. I got a new HD tuner in my computer room and have been watching NatGeo and Discovery World the last few weeks, and it astounds me how they work in a “climate change” angle to almost every show.
The idea is to “normalize” the idea, and it becomes “common knowledge” within a generation. This is a socialist method of controlling messages and altering behavior. The only way to fight it is to educate those around you whenever you have the chance, or become part of the media and send a contrary message. Apparently our side is not even remotely as well financed, contrary to their inane claims, because the bottom bottom line of all of this is money.
So there’s my rant. And I’m sorry because whenever I see al-Gore (or his minions) bloviating as if he has some sort of moral high ground I get angry. Not because it’s al-Gore, but because I know for an absolute fact that these people DON’T BELIEVE WHAT THEY’RE SAYING. It’s kinda like being arrested for public drunkenness by a drunk cop. Hypocrisy is the one thing that I will freely admit I “HATE”. And I think that makes me a lot like most people.

Sorry, dp. I seem to annoy others regularly on WUWT, too. How about a clue to help me be less annoying? One lacks insight into one’s own idiosyncracies.
Sigh. At least, couldn’t you compare me to a German Shepherd (if it has to be a dog, I mean)?

The poodle reference was to Al Gore. (His masseuse described him as a rabid sex poodle.)

They say that history has a habit of repeating itself, and it is a bit scary that this gentleman would appear to be emulating another rather fanatical person by the name of Goebels? (sorry about the accuracy of the spelling!)
This individual was the minister of propaganda for his leader during the natzi era and the names do have some similarity as well as his rhetoric.
This charming Natzi person was well known for his vitriolic attacks on those people who did not follow the party line, and he continually tried to demonise these so called opponents with threats of retribution and violence and eventually had his fascist chums attacking these people, burning their homes and property, with the ultimate goal of have them exterminated in the Natzi’s death camps!
Will this be the next move by this modern day Fascist?

Ugh. Algore must be taking ugly pills.
And jeesh, the political correctness — social-good-summit? Should’ve gone all out & called it the diverse sustainable social-justice equality tipping-point affirmative-action summit.

Ooooo. Slings and arrows with hot chicks with big German Shepherds changing thongs (er, things) in public. Cool!
Perhaps, Sir Jim of the Free Republic, we should introduce the Janice to Esther Friesner’s series of sarcastic and highly irreverent Chicks in Chainmail, Did You Say Chicks, and The Chick is In the Mail? 8<)

Niff,
Before you compare Gore to a a Southern Baptist Bible-thumper, be sure your impression of a a Southern Baptist Bible-thumper has not been formed by third person narrative produced by New York City socialists. I’ve lived in the south for a while now, and my only first hand experience of confrontational prosthlytizing still goes back to an obviously insincere vagrant in Boston Common, circa 1998. Question the whole narrative, not just the parts that poke out from under the tablecloth.

What did poodles ever do to deserve being compared to Al Gore? This is unfair. This is a travesty. Also, poodles don’t deserve those silly show grooming cuts, but that’s off-topic. Al Gore is more correctly compared with pregnant female mosquitos, really annoying pests that suck blood for their living.

Sorry Al this is just pathetic. You even makes a TV evangelist look honest. And you can tell he’s been primed by his buddies. “Hey Al tell them all the heat’s gone into the oceans and it’s sorta swirling round in there waiting to come out again” It’s frightening that some people are even taken in by this drivel.

“…oh yeah and don’t forget to mention that we’ve had a few volcanoes which have messed the figures up” “Great can I also mention the Sun’s got a bit dimmer as well?” “No Al for Christ’s sake Svensmark said that and we’ve said he’s an idiot”

And _Jim. Thank you, so much, for wiping a tear from my heart. Still working on that rhino skin. Humbling experiences are ALWAYS good, though (even if there was a misunderstanding, I know that I could stand some communication improvement, mainly in self-restraint). LOL, I am FAR too set in my verbose ways to change; I’d just have to stop coming to WUWT altogether. And that made me sad. I LOVE THIS SITE!

@ Talent Keyhole Mole, GREAT summary of the gore vid; fun to read.

September 24, 2013 11:00 am

Al, et al, are “reality deniers,” and should be referred to as such.
AFA the heat hiding in the ocean: ok, in the meanwhile, what is all that additional CO2 being added to the air doing? Are they suggesting that the oceans would be cooling the earth if the rise in CO2 had been stopped? Considering the heat content of the ocean compared to the air, if there were a mechanism transferring the heat to the oceans, then we should be safe from further temp rise for a few hundred years.

_Jim! What a generously gallant fellow you are. And after I yelled at you a couple of times for getting on Gail Combs’ case. You have been completely transformed in my eyes, today. Thank you. And, lol, I’m not going within 10 miles of that Weird Sister act mentioned above.

Janice, I seem to remember someone saying something about being “wise as serpents, harmless as doves.” If you make a particular comment that violates site policy, Anthony and The ModSquad will let you know. (This is Anthony’s “living room”, after all.) Beyond that, nothing wrong with a thick skin as long as it doesn’t become a calloused heart.

Why do you allow this guy to thread bomb with his cut and paste tired rhetoric about solar activity on this discussion. Isn’t it bad enough that he does this cut and paste act on every solar thread?
>>>>>>>>>
Tom, I can’t speak for AW, but my opinion is the “science is not settled”. WUWT runs the best website for folks seeking the TRUTH about climate. AW allows numerous posters. AW allows numerous folks to comment. The end result (hopefully) is that we all end up with more info to build our belief systems.
In an ideal society, we get to have our own beliefs. Some choose to believe in things that are not supportable. That is their choice.
Please do not to vote to shut down a polite commenter like Salvatore. You do not have to agree with him. You can oppose him. You can respond to him. But, do not choose to erase folks that have differing ideas.

Geran,
I agree with everything you say. I have been reading this site for a long time and am always appreciative of Anthony’s efforts and his policies. My bitch about this particular posting was that is was not a new idea or anything like that. It is the same old cut and paste post we have seen many, many times over. I do not see anything of benefit by simply reposting the same statement over and over again just because it is saved to a file and is easy to plug in. It isn’t even really appropriate to the subject of this thread.

Social Good Summit? ISTR that that great economist von Hayek said that when you add “social” to any other word, it either removes all meaning or turns it into the opposite. Hence ‘Social Justice’, ‘Social good’, etc

September 24, 2013 6:10 pm

Then Tim Wirth had this to say during the live video feed:
“Skeptics are ‘truly evil people”

– – – – – – – –
So all those those folks @ ‘Skeptical Science’ site and its owner are confirmed evil doers. Evil sure is very funny and not very smart . . .
