Friday Funny: Prince Charles struck by irony meteorite

Apparently, Prince Charles recent pronouncement has created a riff in space-time, and an irony meteorite was ejected, striking the prince in the head. A photo follows.

From Raw Story: Prince Charles criticizes ‘corporate lobbyists’ and climate change skeptics for turning Earth into a ‘dying patient’

“If you think about the impact of climate change, [it should be how] a doctor would deal with the problem,” he told an audience of government ministers, from the UK and abroad, as well as businesspeople and scientists. “A scientific hypothesis is tested to absolute destruction, but medicine can’t wait. If a doctor sees a child with a fever, he can’t wait for [endless] tests. He has to act on what is there.”

He added: “The risk of delay is so enormous that we can’t wait until we are absolutely sure the patient is dying.”

Apparently, second opinions aren’t allowed by Royal medicine. The Daily Mash has the story of the irony meteorite.

irony_meteorite

=============================================================

The beneficiary of the queen’s death was criticising climate change scepticism when he was struck on the forehead by a large, possibly homeopathic, chunk of irony.

Health and safety consultant Nikki Hollis said: “Science is pretty sturdy and can generally cope with a person warning about CO2 emissions whilst being chauffeured around in a big fuck-off Bentley.

“But if you start using a doctor analogy like Charles did, when you’re convinced a £20 bottle of ghosts is the best treatment for serious illness, something’s bound to give.”

You can only laugh at Prince Chuck. He’s so widely known to be so stupid that his endorsement serves better as a coffin-nail than anything else. When it comes down to it, every time he comes out with a public pronouncement of this nature, he’s really saying ‘my wife cuckolded me and the boys are not mine’, since he’s demonstrating they certainly didn’t inherit their brains from him (and it can be taken as read that DIana had none to pass on).
Years ago I was chatting with a senior member of the Royal household in a pub in Westminster when the topic of Queen Elizabeth’s possible abdication came up. I wondered if she ever might, and his response was ‘No, because of just one reason: Charles’. Ever wonder why the Queen Mother was kept alive so long? Practise for the Queen, so as to ensure Charles will be too old to take the throne before she eventually passes-on.

Interesting to compare Freeman Dyson’s use of the same doctor-patient metaphor:

When I listen to the public debates about climate change, I am impressed by the enormous gaps in our knowledge, the sparseness of our observations and the superficiality of our theories. Many of the basic processes of planetary ecology are poorly understood. They must be better understood before we can reach an accurate diagnosis of the present condition of our planet. When we are trying to take care of a planet, just as when we are taking care of a human patient, diseases must be diagnosed before they can be cured. We need to observe and measure what is going on in the biosphere, rather than relying on computer models.

“If a doctor sees a child with a fever, he can’t wait for [endless] tests. He has to act on what is there.”
So if the child has a viral infection and you give him/her a massive dose of antibiotics, what have you accomplished except for endangering their life. If it was a bacterial infection and you used antiviral therapy, same outcome. What is that old adage, oh yes: Primum non nocere.

Coach Springer
May 10, 2013 7:24 am

Most doctors are not of the opinion that a fever ensures that a child is dying. More of a naturally occurring phenomenon than that. The correct analogy is of a quack (can I say that about Dr. Mann, I certainly believe it) looking at a fever and concluding it’s the first fever ever while being certain of what (bad, very bad) will happen.

Prince Chuck is just a guy who has to put on his pants one leg at a time like the rest of us. His very spartan and sadistic schooling hasn’t helped him understand the real world at all and his friendship with Laurens Van der Post gave him a great “empathy” for nature. He believes that talking to his plants help them grow and thrive and that organic fruit and veg is good for the human organism.
Of course having lots and lots of money helps insulate him from the practicalities of life so in many ways he is typical of the west coast crystal gazers who make up a big slice of the Democratic Party support base. It is a great pity that he has never had to live by his choices unlike his dad, Phillip, who has a very sensible take on renewables and famously said of wind power “well that’s rubbish isn’t it”.
In many ways Charles is a decent fellow but you wouldn’t want him making medical decisions for you. Thankfully his two boys seem more solid and sensible so Chuck can go off and be Camilla’s tampon while talking to his plants.

Antibiotics? Anti-virals? Are you daft, man?
Fever is a primary symptom of life threatening gangrene. The only reliable treatment is amputation. And there is no time for endless tests to determine which of the child’s limbs has gone necrotic – take them all!

There’s more regarding the doctor analogy:
In many cases, the doctor is only treating symptoms, not the actual cause. This is obvious by the high number of symptom removing medicines, like pain killers. (Pain is not a cause, only a symptom.)

Of course in order to diagnose the patient You first have to determine if They are in fact running an abnormally high or low temperature to start with , to determine that You need to know what the right temperature is , for a human that is 36.8° ± 0.4°C taken from under the tongue , for planet earth the right temperature is what and taken from where exactly ?

Hopefully the Queen will live a long healthy life like her mother. A carbon tax is like applying leeches to a patient with a fever. The tax money that is left over after government wastes a
good portion of it will be used to woo voters with handouts. Another nail in the coffin for the economy. The EPA declaring Co2 a poison gas is one. Who wants to start a business anymore that emits Co2?

The Queen has never “protected” the UK from anything. She’s a mere puppet, and happy to be so for the sake of self-preservation and the preservation of The Family. And that includes disregarding her duty to uphold the Bill of Rights, and to happily sign away the UK’s sovereignty. She really never had any choice if she wanted to continue to exist as Queen with all the trappings that brings. But let’s not pretend she’s ever been interested in “protecting” the UK.

Traditionally, patients voluntarily elect to go to a real doctor, with a real illness. Often, they decide not to accept treatment when the cure is far worse than the disease, or when there is a serious risk of death by iatrogenic illness. If the enormous doctor bills are accompanied by irreversible alteration of all body functions and replacement of healthy limbs with prosthetics, because the doctor is an adherent of the Precautionary Principle, the patient rejects any further discussion.
So that was the fastest break down of an analogy in history! (:

The planet is just fine, but mankind itself has an illness called Climatus Encephalitic Goreosis™. It has a tendency to strike those with little in the way of gray matter such as Prince Chuckles, and the symptoms are wide-ranging, and can be severe, leading to hallucinations of earning Nobel Prizes, and making wild, unsupported claims about coming disasters Unless We Act Now. The only known cure is actual science, and a good dose of reality and pragmatism which, surprisingly, some find distasteful.

A story in the Norwegian daily Aftenposten (I would post a link, but it is in Norwegian) has reported that the Duchy of Cornwall (Prince Charles’ estate) has closed an organic vegetable shop near to to his Highgrove estate due to poor sales. Charles has had a business selling organic veggies for many years (with no-one mentioning any conflict of interest of course), but now it seems demand has gone down – presumably as people have better things to do with their money in the UK (paying their energy bills maybe?).
You can still buy his veggies on-line though. I wonder how that squares with his aversion to modern technology?

Its not just the UK. She is also the HoS of Australia (Canada and New Zealand too if I recall as well as many other countries), and there are people here who believe “The Queen” has some sort of all encompassing “power” over an elected “Govn’t”. The British Royal “Monarch” has had no “power” in political decisions in Australia since federation in 1901. A “constitutional monarchy” (Australia) is one thing, so too is a republic. Don’t confuse the two.

May 10, 2013 9:09 am

Ironically the medical analogy is quite appropriate for Chucky and his environmentalist beleaguered nation. After all the NHS rathar famously, or infamously depending on your POV, developed the “Liverpool Care Pathway” for “dying patients”, which basically involves depriving them of nutrition and hydration until they are dead. Initially received as “kinder and gentler” than extending existence with intrusive machines and futile therapies, it has evolved into something a bit different.
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2255054/60-000-patients-death-pathway-told-minister-says-controversial-end-life-plan-fantastic.html
60,000 patients put on death pathway without being told but minister still says controversial end-of-life plan is ‘fantastic’
Pathway involves the sick being sedated and usually denied nutrition and fluids
Families kept in the dark when doctors withdraw lifesaving treatment
Health Secretary Jeremy Hunt said pathway was a ‘fantastic step forward’
Anti-euthanasia group said: ‘The Pathway is designed to finish people off double quick’
If you think about the path the Brits have put themselves on because of anti carbon demonization it’s starting to look an awful lot like an effort to put the whole country on the ” Liverpool Care Pathway”

The “Crown” owns 6.6 BILLION acres, including all offshore UK territory that they LEASE to the the windmill/bird shredding industry vampire of the UK ratepayer. The UK installed dictator of Saudi Arabia owns 547 million acres (12% of QE II acreage). The UK monarchy equipped, trained and directed the Imperialist Japanese monarchy in the 1880’s. Following WW II, MacAthur was ORDERED to destroy all evidence of royal involvement in the cannibilism, medical experiments and other atrocities of the Pacific Theater.
A good summary of the royal WW II stage setting is in the series of history articles, “The Vacuum Under the Soetoro Sombrero”, “Housebreaking Your New Euro-snob” and”Overthrowing the Kit and Kaboddle”. It is time for a Modern Magna Carta…..with leg irons and solitary confinement for these anti-meritocracy monarchs.

What is partiuclary annoying about this manifestaion of AGW extremism is the part about blaming those who question the AGW hype are the ones that the extremists blame for the problem.
Skeptics, according to the AGW fanatics, are a small minority. A tiny fraction of uneinlightened planet hating bigots. yet our power, according to the sort of ‘reasoning’ the good Prince demonstrates, are able to actually kill an entire planet.
There is something deeply disturbed about having to at once spread hatred towards a small minority of people who disagree with a particular claim, and then simulataneously endow that tiny group with not only evil intentions but huge dangerous power as well.
This sort of magical thinking can become more than a rhetorical bit of deception. It can empower truly disturbed people into justifying terrible actions against that small minority.I would respectfully ask Prince Charles to reconsider this inflammatory and deeply misleading action.

Given that neither she (nor her wonderful father) had any power to avert the takeover of the UK by Socialism which began at least as early as the 1920’s, her lack of success on that front is no proof at all of her interest in it nor the lack thereof.
She is, however, very interested in protecting the UK’s HONOR… . Thus, I think the above comments re: her refusing to step down while C. is alive are correct.

No, the Governor General sacked the Prime Minister – and if you look back at the reports from the time (as opposed to the revisionist studies published later) you will see that it was a popular decision. The Governor General is the Queen’s representative in Australia, but does not take orders from the Monarch – they just apply the constitution in such ways as asking the largest political party to form a government etc. For the most part, the GG is appointed on the recommendation of the Prime Minister of the time, although since they are appointed for a set period, during which time there can be many elections, they are not usually too linked to any political party.

This is beyond being parody.
Charles is well known for his enthusiastic promotion of. . . . . .homeopathy, medical non-science nonsense and quackery in the purest sense of the word. Charles has fervently lobbied and applied back door pressure for millions of pounds to be diverted from the British health budget to fund quacks who promote homeopathic nonsense:
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-1252745/Prince-Charles-backed-homeopathy-secret-talks-ministers.html
Somehow, it’s quite fitting that he would lecture the world know on “global warming” — and compare it to medicine. This makes two scientific disciplines in which he demonstrates appalling ignorance.

“The beneficiary of the queen’s death”?!
That has to be about the most ugly phrase you’ve written as well as the most disrespectful. She’s just an old lady doing the job that was foisted on her by a twist of fate and doing it with grace and dignity 26 years after she should have retired. Have some respect.

Prince Charles has done more than just about anybody else to create this death planet.
In 2007 he flew on a 7,000 mile round trip to the USA to receive an environmental award.
The Prince of Wales owns 4 LARGE homes spewing out noxious carbon dioxide daily. In 2010 he had a staff of 149. In the same year his travel costs jumped by 50%.
The Prince of Wales is an eco-hypocrite just like many of the famous stars in the UK and Hollywood. Do as we say and not as we do. OK chaps, will do (NOT). Well I can’t actually as I am a low co2 belching sceptic.
Here is a glimpse one of his modest homes.

“Didn’t she sack the Governor General a few years back, leading to a General Election?
Steve T”
No, the Governor General sacked the Prime Minister – and if you look back at the reports from the time (as opposed to the revisionist studies published later) you will see that it was a popular decision. The Governor General is the Queen’s representative in Australia, but does not take orders from the Monarch – they just apply the constitution in such ways as asking the largest political party to form a government etc. For the most part, the GG is appointed on the recommendation of the Prime Minister of the time, although since they are appointed for a set period, during which time there can be many elections, they are not usually too linked to any political party.
**********************************************************************************************
Thanks Rob for correcting my recollection of events.
However, “the Governor General is the Queen’s representative in Australia, but does not take orders from the Monarch” is only the official line. As the Queen NEVER gets involved in politics she could NEVER have given the Governor General orders (or ideas) could she? But I do remember it being quite a popular move at the time and not being an historian do not know if or when this has happened before.
Thanks once again.

Actually, the consensus is clear and the science is settled.
Talking to your plants increases the CO2 in their vicinity
and makes them Happy. Sort of like the cows in California,
except the cows are eating marijuana plants.
(For the Ausländers: Here in these United States, there is
a series of TV commercials representing California dairy
products as soooo good because the cows are “happy”.
My supposition is that they are given marijuana, after all,
they ARE from California.)”
…….
The cows in California reminds me of a billboard outside
the Ground Cow Restaurant/Truck Stop around Vacaville (?)
which had the slogan:
“Carnation Milk, from contented cows.
Buttermilk, from cows who don’t care”…
Maybe Bonnie Prince Charlie was an inspiration for the
song in “Paint Your Wagon” that starts off:
“I talk to the trees,
But they don’t listen to me.
I talk to the stars,
But they never hear me.
The breeze hasn’t time
To stop and hear what I say.
I talk to them all in vain”…

Graduating Physicians raise their right hand and take the Hippocratic Oath at the end of their graduation ceremony. To paraphrase some well known parts; I will prescribe regimens for the good of my patients according to my ability and my judgement and never do harm to anyone. I will preserve the purity of my life and my arts. If I keep this oath faithfully, may I enjoy my life and practice my art, respected by all humanity and in all times, but if I swerve from it or violate it, may the reverse be my life.
If you don’t know what’s wrong or if anythings wrong with your patient doc the only ethical thing to do is to do nothing till you do.

Goodness, I A M in a minority here; having a non-political Head of State versus Hollande; Obama/Bush/Clinton etc., that terrible cancer patient in Venezuela – Chavez; the richest man on the Planet, the delightful V. Putin; and the rest.
Our Queen is actually much loved and respected.
Her eldest – less so, in fairness; many of us would strongly prefer his sister, the Princess Royal [Princess Anne] to succeed. Oh – did Charles have children outside wedlock? I think not.
Political strayers appear to have done so: Mitterand; Livingstone; Berlusconi; – even (allegedly) JFK – sometime US President, for our younger readers.
Charles. He’s not really thick. I think many of his queries do not resonate with the liberal/ecofascist tendency. Much of our UK politics is pretty sterile [and not easily ‘open-able’].
And if he ever does become King of England, I suggest he will be George VII.
His given names are Charles Philip Arthur George.
Charles – one of them beheaded, the other with no legitimate child. A poor record.
Philip – a new name [possible if his Father survives the Queen, as the Prince of Wales may be bully-able] but resonating with Philip of Spain, husband of Queen Mary (I) who had no heirs; Philip, of course, was foreign.
Arthur – a name of legend, which his sensibilities will disavow. Surely!
George, therefore, obviously – after his Grandfather.
Logically, therefore, King George VII.
I think.
The succession is – even today – not adamantly absolutely linear.
When George V died [1936], and Edward VIII abdicated [December 1936] there was some ‘informed’ speculation that George V’s youngest surviving son [Duke of Kent] (Prince John, who apparently had some serious health problems) died 1919 {I think} should succeed, rather than Prince Albert, who became George VI [and was already the father of our Queen (born 1926)].
Kent was seen as being ‘attractive’ to the commonweal.
It was thought that the two middle brothers – the Dukes of [1] York [George VI, later] and of [2] Gloucester – were perhaps less than ideal [the film – ‘The King’s Speech’ – highlights possible problems with Albert; no idea why Gloucester was to be passed over].
It didn’t happen – so we are, consequently, blessed with our present Monarch.
Jubilees, especially, indicate a love for our present Queen that is very widespread, and, perhaps, aware that a political Head of State may be preferable to a politically encumbered one. Some do really rise above their political origins. Some.
Not all . . . . . . . . . .

Prince Charles is well known for his views on architecture, or to put it more bluntley, his obsession with poking, prying, interfering and meddling in planning decisions on developments he finds not to his taste, to the point of actually sabotaging several projects worth billions in London. This blatant interference reached such a scandalous stage that he lobbied Parliament and managed to get the Freedom of Information Act changed so as to exclude all royal correspondence from FoI requests in order, it was said, to “preserve the privacy of the monarchy”.
And all this from someone who’s life ambition is to become a tampon.

Charles Windsor (nee Hanover) is a sanctimonious hypocrite who has brought shame on his family and shame on my country.

… A carbon tax is like applying leeches to a patient with a fever.
Exactly!
If a doctor sees a child with a fever, he can’t wait for [endless] tests. He has to act on what is there.”
Exactly, even not knowing what the patient has, apply leeches, he will be cured.
Oh, what would we do without his guidance, the stupid of us we want to know what the patient has, as we have the feeling the fever diagnose is totally wrong.
A child with fever?
If it would be a child and the temperature would rose from 36.6°C to 36.8°C in three hour, and if we do nothing and if it rises at the same pace it would rise to 42 withing the next 3-4 days, but maybe it will not, there is no reason to despair based on this slight temperature variation… No we do not want to apply leeches!
But the stupidity that burns is that nobody can control Earth temperature through applying leeches on the human society. There are so many problems to solve, nobody does need the additional leeches and the additional pain.
And when talking to the plants maybe he should try to listen to them. What do plants tell about CO2? Yummy Yummy!

I cannot believe the dreadful comments about Prince Charles. He is a decent, sensitive man and has been a wonderful father to his two sons. He has had a rather sad life; was grossly neglected by his parents as a young child; was forced to attend a school he hated and let’s not forget, he does have a degree from Cambridge. Do any of the other Royals?
