Climate Craziness of the Week: Climate Change turns women into hookers?

Really? I guess this explains Mary Magdalene during the Roman Warm Period.

Several House Democrats claim that trace amounts of carbon dioxide could push women to ‘transactional sex’ for survival

Several House Democrats are calling on Congress to recognize that climate change is hurting women more than men, and could even drive poor women to “transactional sex” for survival.

Climate change could also add “workload and stresses” on female farmers, which the resolution says produce 60 to 80 percent of the food in developing countries.

No wonder polls are showing a lack of support for climate issues, even the dumbest voter can see through this.

Transactional sex is illegal in most places, soooo we have to build more women’s prisons to hold these female desperados, lest public morals be traduced. But perhaps if you dose these poor girls with some global cooling that will help set them straight. That way they will have sex to keep warm, which perfectly legal.

So most intelligent observers believe some warming will, on balance, actually benefit the planet. Would more “transactional sex”, again, on balance, harm or benefit the planet? Just asking.

The push for third world women to take up prostitution rather than agricultural or factory work is that it pays about 16 times more. Additionally to some extent the sex trade is demand rather than supply driven *See Elizabeth Pisani “The Wisdom of Whores” ISBN 978-1-84708-024-0 Chapters 6 and 7*

Couldn’t the same argument be used against carbon taxes? Poor women will have to resort to prostitution just to pay their inflated utility bills.

April 29, 2013 11:08 am

They already did that with the normalization of “friendship with benefits,” a byproduct of the so-called “sexual revolution.” Not only did they encourage women to prostitute themselves, but they also created a dissociation of risk with abortion rights, in order to ensure that women would remain available for sex… and taxation.
So, women went from “barefoot and pregnant” to “barefoot, pregnant, exploited, and taxed”. All that was necessary for this transformative change was to deny human dignity and normalize elective abortion (i.e. devaluation of human life), which in the latter case certainly, is a violation of evolutionary fitness.
You have a come long way, Baby! You made the wrong choice. Dreams of material, physical, and ego instant (or immediate) gratification cannot be fulfilled without consequences. People have to set priorities in their lives, and self-moderate their behavior accordingly.

April 29, 2013 11:17 am

Louis:
It’s not just inflated utility bills; although, the misrepresentation of “green” technologies has certainly contributed to a misallocation of resources. For several decades, perhaps longer, there has been approximately a 3% per annum inflation. This is a cumulative debasement of currency, which is realized as a progressive devaluation of capital and labor. Today, that rate is around 8% as the Federal Government has seen fit to maintain trillion dollar deficits. This is just one of many mechanisms by which the market is undermined and pricing of products and services is distorted, which typically means inflated. The most obvious example of progressive inflation is, of course, observed in the medical and pharmaceutical sectors. The effects of which are marginalized or obfuscated through insurance programs and government intervention, which the latter, paradoxically, is also responsible for manufacturing and sustaining.

April 29, 2013 12:04 pm

Well, anybody knows that lack of better employment opportunities drives women into sex work.
Since greening the economy is going to destroy jobs, I think the opposite is true, that is, building windmills will drive women into sex work. Of course, if men don’t have jobs, they can’t pay for the services of such women. But, when young men are flush with cash, there is never a shortage of women to relieve them of that cash. Supply? Demand? It’s all so complicated. I need a grant to make a computer model of this. After I do some research.
All kidding aside, this government is hopeless.

michel
April 29, 2013 12:16 pm

There is underlying all this a serious point – and the jokes here about more hookers being a good thing are in terrible taste.
The serious point is that changes in climate, whether warming or cooling, do affect different sections of the population differently. In England every winter the old die, at least partly from cold houses which they cannot afford to heat. In France in the last very hot summer the old died from heat.
Warming if it happens will benefit the temperate and northern countries, and will have a negative effect on borderline temperate to hot. Cooling, if it happens as the Russians are now predicting, will have very bad effects on borderline far north countries. Real cooling will kill huge numbers of old people in the UK prematurely. Which will be exacerbated by their crazed subsidies to wind and solar, which are levied on electricity prices.
Serious thought about this does require some consideration of the underlying point. And actually, if warming were real, and if it had the bad effects on the third world that the alarmist say, it really might increase prostitution, and that would be a very bad thing indeed. I don’t believe it will happen. I don’t believe the effects will be as advertised. But if they were, it would affect poor women worse than any others, and poor regions worse than any others.

Case study: Former Soviet countries.
An immense amount of adult material now comes from those countries. In some cases women can earn in a day what would otherwise be literally a year’s income. Obviously the temptation is strong.
Anyone with even a whit of sense knows that it’s poverty that pushes women in that direction, and as others have noted the constantly rising price of merely staying warm, having light, and being able to drive or take transit is having that effect.

If Barbara Lee was actually worried about starvation in the 3rd world she’d not only end the ethanol mandate that’s burning over 1/3 of US corn crop in our gas tanks – she’d be joining Oxfam to petition against bio-fuel. http://www.oxfam.org.uk/media-centre/press-releases/2012/09/biofuels-driving-up-prices. Bio-fuel is a means for rich countries to buy food right out of the mouths of starving 3rd world children and ‘feed’ it to their automobiles.

Right. Got it. That’s not the stupidest thing I’ve ever heard, but it ranks. But wait, here’s a counterargument worthy of this gem:
Suppose AGW is real. Therefore we are turning into hobbits, and therefore women are turning into prostitutes. But there are no streetwalking hobbits because I didn’t see any while watching ‘Lord of the Rings’. I didn’t see any while watching ‘The Hobbit’ either. No hobbit brothels are mentioned in the books. Therefore, that AGW is turning women into prostitutes and hobbits at the same time is a contradiction. Therefore AGW is false.
~sigh~ I know, not all that funny. But it’s the best I could do to prevent my skull from exploding.

It is a new and refreshing view of history: I guess we are good for a new proxy for global temperature based on hooker’s transaction costs?
A multi-model ensemble forecasting study (where the ensemble can either consist of multiples runs of a single model or runs from different independent models) is needed to asses where the tipping point will come.
However, before doing this we might look at the real data (interesting like many things with the climate, the data tells a different story and does not fit the narrative:)
http://www.voxeu.org/article/parametric-estimations-world-distribution-income
The world poverty is falling:
“Although world population has increased by about 80% over this time (World Bank 2009), the number of people below the $1 a day poverty line has shrunk by nearly 64%, from 967 million in 1970 to 350 million in 2006.”

Whit of sense aside Code Tech you are talking out of your arse. You’ve zero knowledge or experience of European prostitutes. A qualified engineer doesn’t pack in her job and become a prostitute out of poverty. An English woman doesn’t emigrate to another country specifically to become a prostitute where it is legal out of poverty. From the wiki entry:

Despite her centuries-old disreputable depiction in religion, art, literature, and in recent prominent fictional books and movies, such as The Da Vinci Code, it is largely agreed today that “not a shred of solid biblical or extrabiblical evidence suggests she played the role of harlot, wife, mother, or secret lover”

@ Code Tech.
Actually, there are some scholars who doubt the existence of Jesus. They include Bruno Bauer , Arthur Drews, G.A. van den Bergh van Eysinga (sometime Professor of New Testament at University of Amsterdam) and Robert M. Price, Professor of Theology and Scriptural Studies, Colemon Theological Seminary.
But perhaps you don’t count them as serious scholars. Well, you may appeal to a 97% consensus.
I make my claims (which include the word “probably”) on the basis of the evidence.
As far as the hints about MM being a wife or lover, we have the references in the various apochryphal gospels and the interesting gospel claims that she followed him around in a manner that would not have been usual except for a wife. They are no more than hints, but I didn’t declare they were proof.
I don’t think that very much at all can be proved about the characters of the New Testament.
And I have never read the Da Vinci Code, and I no more care about what Wiki says about it than I care about what Wiki says about Global Warming.

Gee, if only there were some female farmers on this site. Then we could ask them if climate change makes them want to take up prostitution.
Which would be different from hearing how they feel like prostitutes when Daddy Obama tells them to lay back and take it, take all of it, and Government will give them everything Government thinks they need. CodeTech to put in one text “serious historians” in line with a text from wiki about the Da Vinci code is a performance. At least is an explanation for what one understands as serious historians.

I know many people who live in a low income area of my city. Far too many girls that I know have made money as “escorts”. There is no way they EVER would have done that if they had other ways of earning money.
How many of those girls are doing this due to the drought? How many are impoverished due to global warming and how many due to the economy not performing?

Yeah yeah yeah, I’m hostile and belittling, good job you aint met me in person cos I’m an aggressive asshole too, but I’m also right. You were saying and are repeating the sex-is-sin trope which is tripe. I cited definite examples to disprove your meme and all you’ve got in reply is that some people have to do jobs they’d prefer other jobs to. Well the examples I gave included one prostitute who happens to be a dear friend of mine (well, no, I dont mean expensive I mean close to my heart) who chose prostitution in preference to her previous career as an engineer. So your “argument” is as hollow as your sanctimonius bleating tone. You bore me.

Interesting, could it be that it isn’t CO2 but it is the increases in their electric rates due to the assault on conventional power and the pushing of renewables that would result in these women looking for ways to augment their income? The Democrats pushing this nonsense only real complaint would be that said income would be undeclared and therefore untaxed meaning they wouldn’t have access to it.

This doesn’t correlate with daily observations. After 120 minutes watching a movie people are breathing in an atmosphere of about 5000-7000 ppm, not “trace amounts” of CO2. With huge amounts as those, most women should be going out from the movie house offering their sexual services to every man in the street. The same should happen in universities and high schools after 40 minutes of attending class… but observations tell us that they keep giving sexual services to their college mates for free… well, most of them.
Can politicians get more moronic than this? Yes, they can… there is no limit for politician’s idiocy!

On the contribution of poverty to prostitution:
Consider: Musician (female) between engagements, wallet empty, rent due. Acquaintance (male) offers assistance. Does not actually say so, but obviously expects ultimate expression of gratitude.
Where does she go from “entertainer accepting gifts from admirers” to “courtesan who dabbles in music?”
Interesting choices we get sometimes.

Let ye who are without sin, cast the first stone.

Then count the number of churches named after the Magdalen in England. France has many more. What might that suggest?

Those congresspeople who sponsored this resolution obviously aren’t qualified to hold their offices. You have to be human and have a brain to serve in Congress. These boneheaded australopethecines fail on both counts. But in their defense, maybe AGW emptied their craniums and reverted them to the pre-human condition.
The question is, when will the public finally wake up to how ludicrous, how flat-out insane this is?

Chad,
By public, are you referring to the same folks who not only ELECTED those people to office, as well as Obama, not once, but TWICE?
When will the public wake up? When opposition to the left lies down so the full force of their policies can be felt and the opposition can’t be blamed for keeping the policies from working. As long as the universities keep indoctrinating and journalists, for the most part, keep echoing the battle cry of the left, most of the public will continue to blame the opposition rather than the left.

Is it the same democrat who said an island was going to fall over from gw?

wyatt,
You’re referring to Democrat Rep. Hank Johnson.

I think many here are missing the point of the resolution:

“My resolution will affirm the commitment to include and empower women in economic development planning and international climate change policies and practices,” she said. “This will help communities adapt to climate impacts, and embark on a path towards clean and sustainable development.”
The resolution calls on Congress to recognize the effects on women, and to use “gender-specific frameworks in developing policies to address climate change.”
It says Congress recognizes the need for “balanced participation of men and women” in climate change adaption efforts, and that Congress will support women who are vulnerable to climate change.
Finally, it encourages the president to “integrate a gender approach in all policies and programs” related to climate change, and to ensure these policies “support women globally to prepare for, build resilience for, and adapt to climate change.”

Rep. Barbara Lee (D-Calif.) and her co-sponsors are just pushing more gender politics, aided by some familiar shills, no doubt expecting a return of the favor when it comes to pushing racial preferences.

I would imagine that food traders hoarding futures contracts on staples is a far greater threat to humanity that a few extra carbon dioxide molecules.

Really? All these fact based readers, and no one bothers to point out that Mary Magdalene and the “woman at the well” were not the same person, and therefore Mary was not a hooker?

Climate Craziness of the Week: Climate Change turns women into hookers?
Is it that crazy? I remember being told by a PC in before he went out on his beat Manchester that they would not be out tonight so he expected a quiet night because it was three inches deep snow and minus 5 degrees so surely it is reasonable to blame increased activity on global warming.

As a long term resident in Thailand,I have had plenty of opportunities to study the domestic sex trade. I have met many women (and some katoey) before and after they became prostitutes, and I can tell you it has nothing to do with survival.
It is way more likely that the release of a new IPhone would trigger more prostitution than CO2.

That depends, does Global Warming mean snow is a thing of the past or does it mean more heavy snow. When the climate zealots pick one, then we can determine which will be the case.
