NASA will present new discoveries, made by the Hi-C space telescope, of the sun’s corona today in a media teleconference at 1pm EST (1800 GMT) that will be webcast online.

WASHINGTON — NASA will host a media teleconference at 1 p.m. EST Wednesday, Jan. 23, to discuss new observations of a large active region in the sun’s 1- million-degree atmosphere called the corona.
Researchers have been studying detailed images from the High Resolution Coronal (Hi-C) Imager telescope with its 9.5-inch diameter mirror. The instrument was launched aboard a sounding rocket in July 2012 from the White Sands Missile Range in New Mexico.
The media teleconference participants are:

Such CMEs open a breach and load the magnetosphere with plasma starting a geomagnetic storm, causing strong ripple on the Earth’s magnetic field. To compare two events the SSN cycle are given polarity to form SSNmc.

It’s a sad fact, but NASA like NOAA, EPA. Can no longer be trusted to deliver truthful, honest science. These Gov’t organizations have become political shills to the CAGW conspiracy.
Ask yourself why TWO climate observing satellites have been lost in the launch phase. These satellites were capable of falsifying the party line on CAGW. That cannot be allowed.
It looks to me as if sabotage is another sin that is acceptable as long as it furthers “The Cause”

The failure at launch of both earth sensing systems, coincidence, no more meaningful than the observation that all climatology corrections of the temperature data are to the hot side.

Who is we? In the first half of the last century the concept of continental drift was contentious, not because of a lack of correlations, but because a mechanism that moved continents around could not be demonstrated. I recognize the correlations you infer. Now what is the mechanism?
Angry sun, spotless sun, spotty sun, CMES, no CMES, Minimum, maximums: makes no difference to temperature flux on earth as the variation between whatever is the high TSI and what is the low TSI, is negligible. That’s what i take from Leif’s postings since i’ve been over here since 2006. I still find the notion shocking: And my observation, and i read this threads studiously, is no one has got one past him, as far as i can tell, including Nicola. Can anyone tell me one theory that is pier reviewed and properly published and accepted by portions of the solar folks that challenge our resident wise wizards views!?!?!?!?!?!?

Orbital resonance causes the planets to move the sun and our moon (and us) in sync. So the solar changes are synchronized with all the other movements. These folks, peer reviewed, think that the mechanism is lunar, via tidal mixing of the ocean surface:

The NASA release claims “solar braids” raise the temperature of the corona by thousands of times. Where is the lab experiment to back this up?
There is still a serious lack of explanation here. The magnetic field needs to be defined in such a way as to justify the huge temperatures. What is the substance of the magnetic field that it could generate such intense heat just by forming a special shape?
My bullshit meter tops out when an article leads with the usual NASA baffle-speak, “‘With potential annual economic impacts of tens to hundreds of billions of dollars domestically during periods of high solar activity, accurate forecasts of the local space weather environment can possibly save billions for power systems, commercial aircraft and a number of other economic sectors,’ said study author Jonathan Cirtain, who led the Hi-C sun corona mission.”

I would like to hear the science. I would like to know what the specific mechanism involved is and how they replicated it in a lab to support the theory. It is way too premature to talk about the fantastic benefits of taking pictures of what might be an interesting magnetic structure. They are selling us hope, rather than science. This is the stuff of dictatorial regimes trying to baffle the masses with bullshit in order to preserve their position of power.
