2012 Truth Teller of the Year

As a guy who has dedicated a significant part of his life to uncovering environmental scams, naming this year’s Truth Teller is a no-brainer for me.

The winner is the man who just brought down the head of Obama’s Environmental Protection Agency: Christopher Horner.

Chris is a skilled lawyer and senior fellow at the Competitive Enterprise Institute. About a decade ago he wrote, The Politically Incorrect Guide to Global Warming, which caused liberal heads to explode. This year he penned, The Liberal War on Transparancy, a book detailing how the Obama administration’s claim of being “the most transparaent” in history is pure hog washed propaganda.

12,000 e-mails is one hell of a lot of typing and propaganda! I presume this was not done in her free time!

December 31, 2012 10:08 am

We’ve got a lot of heroes and leaders in the sceptic community . You are one of them also Anthony and we are fortunate to have you . Mr Horner and Mr McIntyre have been active and beneficial to us this year as well as the folks over at Heartland . Steven Goddard has pounded them this year and Willis has been informative as well as entertaining . My thanks to all of you. And we shouldn’t forget the many others who are good influences to those we learn from . We are now an army with huge numbers and the truth is winning .

December 31, 2012 11:15 am

And that 12,000 e-mails referred to communications sent through ONE alternate identity to ONE agency. How many other government offices received e-mails from that masquerade identity? How many other masquerade identities did Lisa Jackson use? How many other EPA officials have used alternate identities to conduct government business? How many non-EPA Obama Administration officials are conducting official business under false persona?
How can any rational U.S. citizen believe Obama’s Justice Department, the recipient of those 12,000 acknowledged e-mails, is upholding federal law?

Choosing any “man of the year” is a tough task because there are always so many deserving people. Horner is as good a choice as one could find, though. Congratulations to him.

Congrats to Chris Hormer. It was long past time Lisa ‘Tricky Dicky’ Jackson got her come-uppance for her corrupt malpractices. What was the name of the guy who wrote the climate change report she didn’t like? I bet he’s enjoying the news.

But Richard Windsor does not use a computer as he is a dog. Remember she said that she never really used he computer. She lied!. But why have an alias anyway? This really is a big deal.
In my work I have always been extreamly careful with emails in what I say and how I say it as it is a history of my work. But little old me having a alias email account to discuss dubious particulars is unthinkable..
But for someone like Lisa Jackson, opps sorry Richard Windsor, and the EPA, I mean WOW!!
Thank you Chris Horner you are a star!

Hi Brian, like to hear you nail the warmistas when you’re guest hosting for brother Mark. You do need more work on spelling, though.

There are so many heroes in this story, so many people making a difference. If it were not for these amazing individuals giving their time and effort unstintingly, so many of us would still be in the dark. I think 2013 is going to be a very good year. Happy New Year, everyone.

Actually probably as a lobbyist.

Revolving Door
Although the influence powerhouses that line Washington’s K Street are just a few miles from the U.S. Capitol building, the most direct path between the two doesn’t necessarily involve public transportation. Instead, it’s through a door—a revolving door that shuffles former federal employees into jobs as lobbyists, consultants and strategists just as the door pulls former hired guns into government careers….

I also offer a sincere thanks to all those like Chris Horner, Anthony, Dr. Tim Ball, Mark Steyn and the National Review, Dr. Lindzen, Lord Monckton and all the others who stuck their necks out and risked there careers and livelihoods to defend the truth.
We should also pause for a moment and remember the ranks of the fallen.
WUWT moderator, Robert Phelan, Dr Zbigniew Jaworowski, Dr. John Daly, Ernest Beck and the others who refused to back down.

The New Year has just hit here in the UK (I’m reluctant to use ‘Great Britain’ any more) but I’d like to raise a glass (Laphroaig Quarter Cask single malt) to all WUWTers and to add special thanks to Anthony and the oft-overlooked Moderators for making this site so great. An additional mention for Willis: you have the ability to put into words emotions I have felt but could never express.
Like fishing in a small boat on the Lower Zambezi when you are unaware that a few hours before the Kariba Dam floodgates have been opened and your first indication that something’s not right is the thunderous roar of a foaming crest coming downstream. We ran the boat straight into the bank and sprinted uphill as fast as we could. Just made it, but the boat and engine disappeared for ever.

Personally I think Leif Svarlgaard deserves a mention here.
For tirelessly debunking the evermoving claims of “it’s the sun what dun it” folk who say:
It’s UV
Its solar wind
Its jupiter/saturn/venus harmonics causing solar output of yobber* rays to increase (TSI obviously misses some unknown energy)
Your ideas are wrong – you know nothing.
I read this last night and now I know your years of research are wothless
and of course the thing that drives the zero point energy believers – It’s magnetism.
etc etc.,
He has repatedly debunked the same plots, the same new science, and only occasionally lost his cool. A real hero in my books.
Thanks Leif

I’ve have had a lot of respect for Chris Horner for a long time. He used to be a slick lawyer that rented his brain to manhattens highest bidder. And I’m sure the highest bid was high. He could have the supermodel of his choosing for his wife and switch her out as often as his every other astronomically priced supercar. And he would have been on his way to Lear jet richdome and any-city wide power across the worlds great cities. He could even have been looking at high positions in politics with all the money those scams bring in.
But no, he chose to stand up for himself and the real ‘no pretend’ version of dignity. He left it all behind and joined ranks with the likes of us.
That takes a man with his heart in the right place.

You know, the sad thing in all of this, is that such things, ie the false e-mails etc, are not in the MSM. all the average man on the street sees, is what is in eg, the Sun/Mirror, Mail/Express, and Telegraph/Observer(Guardian). Some of these are so pro-warmist its just not believeable. Indeed, these people cannot see their local weather and dispute the IPPC forecasts!!!!!! It is despairing in that, no matter how many FACTS are put forward, these people will not believe… Or, do not give a toss…… Best of luck to the New Year, the honourable people need it

We should unite in giving thanks to Chris and many others (Anthony included) who make a stand for what is right and what is truth, usually at great cost to themselves. I have been amazed that we seem to live in an era where Governments seem to pander to those who hold numerous thingos after the name. The more bizarre the statements the more recognition they receive. Some of these wayward types have received various high awards even though they hold to some extreme and unacceptable ideas! In Aus we are being ruled by these rule makers who often lack logic and common sense. As long it is ‘green’ hang the cost to the populations. Leaders where are you???
I thought I was getting cynical in my old age and then after some research and listening to people with practical common sense I realised what is really happening!!!
Note in one region alone in NSW over the past two decades over 300,000 acres have been purchased from private landholders by Govenment agencies with a green colour.

I have to wonder – what with 12 000 emails from the dog plus the ones on the official account – when did she ever get time to do any work? I can only assume that she was mechanically signing the pile of documents provided to her (without reading them) while reading/sending emails and talking on the phone.
So much for accountability.

I wish we could all feel “comfortable and relaxed” for the New Year. Those are the words of exPM John Howard’s wish for Australians on the eve of the 1996 election. Australians haven’t felt that way since Mr Howard lost the 2007 election. We have had the incompetent Labor Government led by Kevin Rudd then Julia Gillard ever since. 2013 is the year the Australian people have their say and vote them out of office. It can’t come quick enough.
I admire all the inspirational people on WUWT site who want nothing more than truth, honesty and plain facts… as we Aussies say they are “true blue” and “fair dinkum”. Anthony, Willis and many more. Thank you sincerely.

January 1, 2013 3:01 am

Yes, Chris has got my vote. As far as the climate debate is concerned, he has done better investigative reporting than anyone else, this past year.
Curiously, Richard Windsor, the name that Lisa Jackson used for her off-grid email account, was a lawyer (now deceased) who worked for PEER. PEER is the group that is backing Mann’s defamation case. Jeff Ruch of PEER has even commented on the coincidence.
However, anybody looking for some sort of collusion between Jackson and PEER would have to explain why Ruch was one of Jackson’s most vehement critics. He vocally opposed her appointment, contrary to the wishes of many other ‘environmental’ groups including the Sierra Club.
Maybe Jackson thought it was ‘poetic’ to choose the name of a former ‘opponent’ for her secretive email account.

thank you Gail. Right on. I’m heart warmed that you included Jaworowski. He’s still my number one unsung and forgotten hero. I’d like to add some names:
Tallbloke, for defending liberty over Christmas last
Steve Mosher (despite our differences) for holding the explosive Climategate emails safely and wisely
Tim Ball (despite some differences) for continuing to speak up from a unique insider’s viewpoint, despite being a non-person at Wikip**
Marcel Leroux, of Wikipedia deletion fame – I hope to see Tallbloke writing about him soon!
Steve McIntyre – no explanations needed
Tom Segalstad, co-author with Jaworowski, who I believe has suffered the slings and arrows of outrageous fortune on account of the still-unaudited ice core shenanigans – the (imho highly questionable) results of which are the very first piece of showcased evidence in the IPCC propagandanotebook
Paul Dennis, for suffering the attacks of both sides while working inside the stronghold of corruption at UEA
FOIA! – I still regard this as possibly a miraculous intervention though I know it’s scientifically politically incorrect to take seriously the evidence for the reality of miracles.
Last year I changed direction somewhat, as I became aware of the massive challenge of the “exotic energy” cover-ups – a wall of silence so effective that most people here haven’t even heard about them. With that in mind, I’d just like to commemorate one name (RIP – please google him). There are many more.
Eugene Mallove – for services rendered to humanity – before the cover-up of his name becomes completely effective.

Only by being too numerous can wiping out individuals become ineffective although Stalin didn’t seem to think so. The escalation in the viciousness attacks on skeptics is something to take very seriously.

I think the Truth Tellers of the Year award should go to the Met Office and the IPCC for revealing that Global Warming Isn’t Happening.
Perhaps WUWT could come up with a Certificate and award one to each body? Just imagine it: The Watts Up With That Truth Tellers of the Year Award 2012. The MSM must cover a story in which the world’s foremost AGW Sceptics Website finally throws in the towel and finds itself in agreement with the IPCC!
The downside of course is that Michael Mann will claim he was a WUWT Certificate winner.

What’s all this BS ridiculing the sun? Of course it’s the sun–what else could it be? Short term, medium term, sunspots and weather–sunspots and climate–go hand in hand. Long term, it’s Milankovitch Cycles. Until we understand just how sunspots are related to climate, all or nearly all options are still on the table. Anyone who says different is no better than Galileo’s dismissing the moon’s effect on tides. Or maybe core/mantle coupling runs the show. –AGF
