Lisa P. Jackson of E.P.A. to Step Down – NYTimes.com

Ms. Jackson has said that she used the second account because her public e-mail address was widely known and that her e-mail alias — “Richard Windsor” — derived from the name of her dog and her former home in Windsor Township, N.J..

She’s done the job she was chosen to do; the damage is done, and will take at least a decade to repair, IF ever, given that at least one entire generation has been compromised / brainwashed / Dumbed Down by the CAGW scam.

Well, I suppose that’s good news for the time being. At least until we learn who her replacement will be. My impression of her has always been that her understanding of the science was limited at best. That she was the handmaiden of the so-called “consensus,” i.e. the activist bunch that infiltrated climate science in the 80s and 90s.
Is it possible that Obama will choose an independent, open-minded thinker on the subject of climate change to replace her? No bloody likely.

The New York Times story on this has to be read to be believed. The IG’s investigation gets a brief mention down around paragraph 18. It’s stated she had decided to resign in early November and is only now getting around to announcing it. Those nasty Republicans also come in for a good trouncing, the implication being they are to blame for her departure.

I’m afraid it’s not just climate science that got infiltrated.
A few years ago the Hg limit in wastewater was set at the detection limit at that time.
Recently, there was an attempt here in NC to basically make the wastewater standards equivelant to the drinking water standards.
There’s a federal push right now to remove PFOS from manufacturing.
Cr +6 continues to be portrayed as evil right behind CO2 and maybe PM.
More and more often these activists with a complete lack of understanding have managed to gain political and more disturbingly scientific backing.

Dangerous people in influential places.
Just look at Lord Deben (formerly John Gummer). He was recently appointed Chairman of the UK’s Committee on Climate Change, an extremely influential body. It now turns out he is also a Council Member at the World Future Council (WFC), which is supported by, amongst others, the aforementioned Richard Parncutt.
Much of their agenda is pure Marxist. e.g “Global common goods to be placed in trusts, coordinated by a revived UN Trusteeship Council, setting sustainable usage caps and distributing “commons income” usage fees as a basic citizen’s income. “
Much more here.

There’s a federal push right now to remove PFOS from manufacturing.

A little amplification might be needed by others on this –
I’m assuming the PFOS you’re referring to is Perfluorooctanesulfonic acid or perfluorooctane sulfonate.
Used to be used in such product as 3M’s consumer products as “Scotchgard” (fabric stain and water repellent).
Wiki is full of both info and ominous warnings regarding PFOS.
Note that the “primary American producer of PFOS, 3M, announced, in May 2000, the phaseout of the production of PFOS, PFOA, and PFOS-related products. PFOS and PFOS-related chemicals are currently produced in China.
Various uses include (per wiki; I remind readers about the caveat regarding ‘ominous’ above):
– PFOS was the key ingredient in Scotchgard, a fabric protector made by 3M, and numerous stain repellents.
– PFOS, together with PFOA, has also been used to make aqueous film forming foam (AFFF), a component of fire-fighting foams, and alcohol-type concentrate foams.
– PFOS compounds can be also found in some impregnation agents for textiles, paper, and leather; in wax, polishes, paints, varnishes, and cleaning products for general use; in metal surfaces, and carpets.
– In the semiconductor industry, PFOS is used in multiple photolithographic chemicals including: photoacid generators (PAGs) and anti-reflective coatings (ARCs). It has been phased out in the European Union semiconductor industry due to health concerns.
– In Skydrol, a hydraulic fluid used in commercial aviation.
The most important emission sources of PFOS are metal plating and fire-fighting foams.[20]

And to make matters worse the courts have stated the bureaucrats word is GOLDEN. So we have moved to the point where authorities are making sure that no appeal of a bureaucrats decision is ever made possible.

EPA Litigation: On Thursday, by a 6 to 2 vote the US Circuit Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia (often called the second most important Federal court behind the US Supreme Court) rejected a petition to re-hear a decision by a panel of the court which ruled against those who appealed the EPA finding that GHG, particularly CO2, endanger human health and welfare, Endangerment Finding (EF). The decision was disappointing, but expected. The only avenue left is to petition the Supreme Court to hear the case. It would be surprising if the Supreme Court did so.
As stated in prior TWTWs, the EPA claimed in court the models are valid and there is a 90 to 99 percent certainty in the science, largely derived from the IPCC AR4. Already the EPA is advancing intensified regulations based on court protection of its EF. The economic consequences may become extremely harmful. A critical issue behind the court decision is that the Federal appeal courts will not permit challenges to science as promulgated by Federal agencies.….

What a mess.
The only question left is when will they completely break the USA and bankrupt her. Our manufacturing is gone and the factories packed-up and shipped overseas. Once Obama & Co. finish with the USA we will literally be starting from scratch with a ~$20+ trillion dollar debt hanging round our neck. An education system that produces semi-illiterates, no mining or agriculture allowed and laws that hamstring any and all start-up business.
I guess that Al Gore really meant it

“While presenting a national award to a Colorado FFA member, Gore asked the student what his/her life plans were. Upon hearing that the FFA member wanted to continue on in production agriculture, Gore reportedly replied that the young person should develop other plans because our production agriculture is being shifted out of the U.S. to the Third World.”

But he wasn’t just talking of agriculture.

May I humbly suggest that Lisa Jackson may be stepping down as head of the EPA because she’s maybe being investigated by the FBI for possibly having run guns to Mexico in ‘Fast and Furious.’ Whoops, silly me. ‘Fast and Furious’ was an ATF program (except, of course, for the ATF agent in Mexico who, of course, had no reason to know about it), or a State Dept. program, or a Justice Dept. program, or a… Well, it certainly wasn’t an EPA program, so that was stupid of me. Hey, I know, she was being investigated by the FBI for having an extramarital affair and she decided to get down, er, I mean step down, while the stepping was good. Whoops, she’s not the head of the CIA, it’s not immediately after the election, and there’s no apparent scandal. Oh, silly me again. Wait, now I think I know. This is it. Barack Obama’s determined that John Holdren’s a better fit for the EPA than our Lisa. Unless, of course, Barack Obama’s determined that Valerie Jarrett is the right person for the right time. So what’s the bet here? John or Valerie? Yikes.

The EPA will continue Oblarny’s strategy until America is communist, run like Europe with no means to dislodge the ruling party socialists. Extreme , I know, but that is exactly what he has done. Gail. The only avenue left is to petition the Supreme Court to hear the case. It would be surprising if the Supreme Court did so.
Because that would expose the US legal system to questions about the way it is currently set up, managed, maintained, influenced, manipulated, biased, politicised, etc etc.
There is a growing need for adjustment of our so-called independent judicial systems as they increasingly demonstrate their intellectual inability to comprehend the complexity of scientific and moral / ethical cases brought before them.
I would suggest that the US (and other) judiciarys have become polluted by the assumption that one of their roles is to act in the cause of the (perceived) greater good without questioning the validity of that assumption. There can be little doubt that the standards of intellectual achievement of those who would judge us has seen a dumbing down over recent years, decades even.
It would seem that all too many courts are little more than rubber stamps for politicians wishes nowadays.
Just another step on the way towards the breakdown / implosion of society.

Not. Quite. Yet.
Manufacturing is not quite gone yet. Of course, I don’t know what you read for ‘news’ or what social circles you might frequent so maybe that is the only conclusion one in your position can arrive at?
A few biggies as an example to the stated ‘contrary’ view:

12-27-2012 Ford investing $6.2 billion, creating 12,000 new jobs by 2015
Ford Motor Co. plans to invest $6.2 billion to expand its U.S. manufacturing base, a move that will help it save 3,240 existing jobs and add another 12,000 positions by 2015.
A large chunk of the investment will go into the maker’s home state of Michigan, which will see the addition of 2,350 new jobs.
– – – – –
25 Big Companies Betting On America
Economic uncertainty around the globe has made corporations wary of making big bets, despite the trillions of dollars sitting on balance sheets. That doesn’t mean companies have completely given up on investment though, and according to the Progressive Policy Institute these 25 are the biggest investors in America, based on fiscal 2011 capital expenditure figures.
– – – – – –

Statements made in measured tones is one thing, indicating the shifting global ‘focus’ where goods are manufactured; blanket statements made in absolute terms colliding with ‘fact’, like what follows, are quite another: “Our manufacturing is gone and the factories packed-up and shipped overseas.

I think it’s not unreasonable to suppose that given her (and her proteges) attacks on coal, oil, gas, nuclear and pretty much any sane energy source, her plainly watermelon partisan approach and comprehensively bad attitude to accountability = she’s left before some more unsavory information hit the ‘net. There’s some real unpleasantness lurking – and they’re hoping this nips out any further digging.
It’s my experience that when folk in an organisation start using aliases – they can’t stop…. Noms de guerre and all that.
If you throw in folk like Armendariz who have been self evidently recruited as swashbuckling eco warriors – it all points to a pretty toxic mindset inside the organisation and it’s obvious that there’s far, far more where all this has come from….
You will see somebody superficially “greyer” appointed – but look closely and if it follows the pattern we’ve seen in the U.K. – they’ll just be a gormless sock puppet for the already embedded activists at best.
She’s just been cast off in an act of Autonomy and it’ll be business as usual – no doubt Lisa will wash up somewhere as what we Brits call a Quango Queen.

The arrogance of people like Lisa actually knows no bounds. Their contempt for citizens and the legal constraints on their powers continues past the point where they’re found guilty – because it’s about an ideological belief system and “the struggle” – and well, I don’t think it’s over-egging it – eco-jihad and not about honesty, transparency and practicalities.
They conflate being a public servant with being in government – and heads of government departments can do anything they like – like some medieval princeling – if they possess some wit and cunning they’re off before the mob with burning torches turns up – clutching whatever they can carry and given Ms Jackson’s perch in the pecking order and obvious favor with the folks at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue – she won’t be wanting for dog food. .

I would prefer to go back to the 1960s before ‘Silent Spring’ made people scared for the environment (notice parrallels now-a-days with AGW). I have over the decades spent millions of dollars investing in mitigation of the by products (some people call it pollution) that my industrial processes had produced. In the old days, I used to be able to dispose of them the cheapest most convenient method I choose. Not any more since the government now meddles in my business and costs me a fortune. I look at overseas countries and see how their industries are not troubled by regulations on the safe disposal of by products. In fact the governments help those industries by making sure communist agitators don’t cause trouble under the disguise of looking after the environment. Sure the by products can be a little inconvenient to the local area for a short time, but the world is a big place and the environment can look after itself without the EPA interfering.

Eric Worrall. Too right, and at the same time they should remove the right for people to sue God fearing republicans for problems they may (or may not more likely) have due to the pollution that is produced. I have to admit, that the fear of litigation is a powerful deterrent to just dumping the chemicals in an on site pond like I used to. But it was hard to prove that the chemicals didn’t contaminate the ground water, and the blighters made me pay just the same. I maintained that water was already contaminated and they had already had those health problems. But you know how it is, if a lawyer smells a buck in it, he’ll go after it.

What is it with these recent yuppie Americans who seem to think that their cats and dogs are just like people and can go anywhere people go.
Our local downtown Saturday Organic (carbon filled) farmer’s market, has signs all over the place saying “no pets” and still people bring their mongrels on a string, as if they are somehow special.
Just today at the auto dealer getting service for my car, two different people walked in with dogs on a string; one of them a monster mastiff, as if they owned the place.
Dogs are animals, and people with them, should leave them at home or inside their car, instead of inflicting them on everybody else. And if you say anything to them, they tell you to mind your own business; which come to think of it, is exactly what I was doing.
but possibly Richard Windsor is actually smarter than Lisa Jackson.
Oh! and I saw a wonderful clip of the first mutt jumping up on Michelle’s lap; really a wonderful story for someone who had their umpteenth vacation cut short. Gummint will still run out of money ere year end, despite The First Lady’s sacrifice.

They have been watching the Irish carbon tax receipts and others with dollar signs in their eyes and that explains the contrived approach to science manipulation to fill out the legal forms and move on with the political push.

Roger Knight. It is simple, by giving people like the EPA any sympathy, you are helping transferring industry to easier to operate countries. The trade off for local jobs is a little pollution, you can’t have one without the other. So by displaying your communistic sympathies in defending the EPA you are personally assisting in wrecking local industry. Is this what you want?

The following two comments are caricatures of the anti-EPA position we contrarians adopt, which is that the EPA has gone too far and is dominated by anti-business zealots. We do NOT wish to go back to the good old days before environmental regulations, which is what these two comments are longing for. They were posted in the hope of drawing commenters here into backslapping agreement so WUWTers can be mocked subsequently on the Daily Kos or wherever “Harddoneby” regularly roosts.

I responded to the above with the following: “Clever strawmen. Nobody here will bite (I hope).” In reply: got this i

This confirms my view that he is attempting to draw WUWTers into the politically disastrous, and scientifically wrong, position of opposing the EPA 100%.

The trade off for local jobs is a little pollution, you can’t have one without the other.

Sure. I’d make that trade-off too. But “a little” isn’t what we used to have.

So by displaying your communistic sympathies in defending the EPA . . .

This is a clever, Machiavellian attempt to divert readers’ attention away from my exposure of the game he’s playing by pressing one of what he imagines to be our hot buttons.

. . . you are personally assisting in wrecking local industry. Is this what you want?

More cleverness–attempting to poison the well. But we can see through your tactic.

I do not bid you ‘au revoir’, Madame Jackson, nor farewell.
You are historically now a ‘lessoned learned’ wrt how not to be: independent, critical, objective, professional, open and transparent.
You were an intellectually dull political tool with unachieved integrity in the role of EPA leadership. Your usefulness outlived the intentionally hidden bias of some research which you falsely claimed to support alarming AGW by CO2 from fossil fuels. Our nation, which you consistently sacrificed so senselessly on the altar of a non-human lessor value, has justly relegated you into the legacy of fools.

I get the feeling that Obama per se is not really a warmist anymore
==============
It is simply the economy and the deficit holding him back. There has been no change at the top.
In reality, the situation is quite dangerous because the government needs money to feed their policies. And when government’s need money the last thing they consider is to spend less. First they will try and raise the money by taking it from the citizens. In one fashion or another. Usually this means a “tax for your own good”.

According to Chris Horner, senior fellow at the Competitive Enterprise Institute, the practice was instituted by Carol Browner, former director of the Obama White House Office of Energy and Climate Change Policy and Bill Clinton’s EPA administrator…
…“I stumbled across an obscure EPA memo admitting to the ‘alias’ accounts having been created by someone who also had ordered her hard drive and backup tapes erased (Carol Browner), and that the accounts were set on auto-delete,” Horner told The Daily Caller News Foundation in an email. (RELATED: Republicans continue to press EPA’s Lisa Jackson on secret email accounts)
“That is, everything about their origin screamed abuse, and controls were supposedly instituted,” he added. “Later, EPA again promised to get its act together on the heels of a Government Accountability Office inquiry.”
“All of which tells us that systems can always be abused; it isn’t the system, but politicians naming people to positions of authority who will abuse that authority,” Horner continued.

Eliza, Obama isn’t “really” anything. Consider he wrote or had himself written TWO autobiographies before he became president with conflicting details and “composite girlfriends”. The media has never sleuthed his past. All that we know about him came from Breitbart and other sources.
Obama has NO convictions except the will to power.

Even the warmists can eventually be embarrassed, it seems. But only briefly.

Is she really stepping down or is it just for show? Will they wait a month or two and have her back again? It’s happened before with others. I don’t believe anything these people say or do.
