This film, being shown all throughout Australia, and now available here at WUWT shows what the Gillard government is doing to prepare for the worst unstoppable effects of climate change. It’s quite something. RealClimate has declined comment.
Happy Friday Funny everyone! That’s the best laugh I’ve had since Elmer’s M4GW original “hide the decline” video.

‘CRACK IN THE WORLD’!!!!!!!
I love the draw from When Worlds Collide, which points out the difference between science fiction and this “We’re All Gonna Die!” government crap.
Which is that science fiction – as a genre of literature – is written chiefly to appeal to a technologically literate and reasonably well-educated consumer base, and has got to make sense.
La Gifford and her co-conspirators, though…..
Well, not one teensy little bit.
“When Worlds Collide”! Boy, that takes me back. Decent sci fi flick for its time.
Yes, it could happen, except that ship everyone’s fighting to board is actually headed for China. I wonder what their policy is on illegal immigrants?
Thanks for the chuckle, Anthony.
Ozzies.They’re a weird mob.
What the hell is Climate Disruption?
You see, the climate of the Earth, if left to its own devices, is perfectly stable and never changes. There is never any variation whatsoever. So if the climate shows a period of warming or cooling on a decadal scale, then we must have caused it. If the climate is warming, it is because we are burning coal and creating CO2 but if it is cooling, it is because we are burning coal and creating aerosols. Any variation from a model developed in a Columbia University lab is caused by us. This model is certified perfect in every way. It is so perfect that we have no problem spending billions of dollars in ways to minimize this “disruption” of the climate away from the perfect model temperature.
There is no natural climate variability. All variability is caused by human beings because the Earth’s climate is exactly perfectly stable and never varies (ever). If you don’t believe me, just ask a prominent climate scientist how much natural variation is “normal” on a decadal scale. You will get a response pretty much the same as if you were a man from Mars who suddenly appeared on Earth.
Climate disruption is any change from perfectly stable climate that we must be responsible for. In fact, maybe the simple act of having thermometers makes the climate vary. Before thermometers we didn’t have nearly as much worry about the variation of the climate. Yes, that’s it! There is something in thermometers that drives the climate crazy. That is why there has been a move to reduce the number of stations observing the climate.
Next we will go into how cheese causes earthquakes unless moderated by fish molecules of certain types.
Thank goodness I left Orstraya last year. Anything to get a way from the big polluders
Good on ya. Don’t burn that evil coal in Australia where it will create jobs and wealth for the average person in Australia. Instead tax the average Australian to pay the cost of shipping the coal to China, where it can create jobs and wealth for the average Chinese.
If a few Australians that own the mineral rights get filthy rich as a result, well they will just have to live with the burden. Some well placed political contributions and plum patronage jobs to loyal politicians will no doubt ease their heavy load. The hard work and self-sacrifice of the rest of Australia will no doubt be good for the average Australian and build character. They would only waste the money otherwise on drink.
Idiocracy the movie deja vu all over again
Wow, that is so funny! Thanks. I also really enjoyed http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dGHiJF4TWw8
That’s as funny as a 100 trillion dollar Zimbabwe reserve note! We can really, really fight climate disruption when we start printing ours.
Thanks Crosspatch! I don’t normally laugh out loud at 06:15.
I’ve passed this on. I remember the film I was a kid then and it was a good flick for its time. Aussies are organizing a convoy of no confidence in the present government. It’s coming from all over Australia to arrive in Canberra on 21st July (I think) more info on Jo Nova site. Retrovirus
calamity. Coming from an open gay politician I think that’s a bit un-smart.
Tim Flannery, the Gillard government’s Chief Climate Commissioner, has predicting AGW would cause massive flooding. Could it be to drive down waterfront real-estate prices in Oz for personal gain?
“Professional alarmist Tim Flannery in 1996 warned that global warming would drown beachfront houses eight storeys high … But the very next year he bought a house just four or five metres from the edge of the tidal waters around the Hawkesbury estuary:.. Five years later—even as climate scientists, including Professor Flannery, claimed evidence of global warming and rising sea levels was even more solid—the couple bought the property next door…”
http://blogs.news.com.au/heraldsun/andrewbolt/
That pretty much sums up the case for AGW in Oz. Better sell good old Tim your beachfront property soon before it floods. It really isn’t worth anything. He will just be doing you a favor.
Don’t worry..Greenieman will save us, he and his faithful sidekick Gullibilelard. They won’t let the plastic bags and fried chicken and hot chips destroy us. We will throw away our evil air conditioners and monstrous automobiles. We will all eat a gray pasty substance made from recycled feces. Yes, our world will be saved from us, thanks to Greenieman and his trusty sidekick.
Bikini Bottom is also preparing for massive climate disruption.

” Something beautiful is unfolding. From all over Australia, people whose businesses and jobs are being driven into the ground by spectacular government mismanagement are gathering to drive from the corners of the continent to converge on Canberra to demand an election.”
I’m speechless!
Are Australians so dumb as to believe in 0.001% of what the film says?
Ecotretas @ 10.53 pm. No we are not! Something like 80% of people in Oz don’t believe we should have a carbon tax. It was a skit! But that lady on last Mondays Q & A ABC repeated all the crap you see on this.
There was a B grade film produced in Australia titled ‘They’re a weird mob?’ Through the eyes of an Italian immigrant. I think it was made in the 1960s.
It gets funnier on repeat viewings. Shame Flannery wasn’t included.
I am Australian and couldn’t believe the video until I saw Andrew Bolt’s name – and then I completely understood.
One of the comments in video wasn’t even about climate change, but a reply to the claim by a right wing British journalist that those on the left were exploiting the shooting tragedy in Norway for political gain.
This shows just how low people like Bolt are prepared to go to smear the science of climate change.
Meanwhile, back in the real world.
The region where I live (wintertime) has been below average temperatures and above average rainfall because of La Nina. But temperatures over the past 10 consecutive days have been above 20 degrees C (68 F).
This equals the record for winter and if 20 C tomorrow a new all time record will be set. Today is 24 C (75 F) and it’s forecast to be 20 tomorrow.
I hoped the film would end with the alarmists getting on the space ship and giving the rest of us a break like the telephone sanitizers in ‘Hitchhikers Guide To The Galaxy’. Did I miss something?
Ocean assification. Priceless.
Brian says: “The region where I live (wintertime) has been below average temperatures and above average rainfall because of La Nina. But temperatures over the past 10 consecutive days have been above 20 degrees C (68 F)”
At last! We have a proxy for global temperature! No need for HADCRUT or GISTEMP or UAH, just a thermometer on Brian’s paved patio, near the A/C vent.
G’day! No, Aussies do not believe – that is why the Convoy of No Confidence in the Federal Government – Coalition of industries is happening.

Hey, Brian, thanks for the weather report from Down Under, and– Hmm? Kool-Aid? Why, yes, thank you, I am a bit thirsty…
@Brian
Fact check: the British journalist you are referring to, Brendan O’Neill, is, in fact, a Marxist. I suppose a Marxist might be considered to be right wing in some alternative universe where the absurdities of Green policies could be considered as normal. Unfortunately, he committed the unpardonable sin of arguing for free speech. Ms manufactured outrage had made a statement along the lines that the Norwegian nutter did what he did because of hate speech from the people who dared to criticise something the Australian government did; and criticising the government is the same as inspiring nutters to kill people. Or something incoherent like that.
You can see it here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ffP8UAp6e0s
I’m Australian too and I think Brian might be onto something. I just rang our department of labor to inquire about working on the ark building project and was told no such thing was in progress. Also when Bob Brown mentioned chlamydia if I recall the interview correctly he wasn’t talking about climate change but was explaining the medical grounds for his recent absence. Could it be those shifty right wingers have pulled a fast one on us?
The books “When Worlds Collide” and “After Worlds Collide” were written in the 1933 and 1934 as racial/ social commentaries disguised as Science Fiction. This was pretty much the only way the authors (Philip Wylie and Edwin Balmer) could explore the topic at the time. Still, the books were much better written than the movie, which deviated considerably from the story.
You are right Brian, they did quote her out of context, but she deserves the ridicule, she is a mouthpiece for Bob Brown.

During Monday night’s Q&A program, Ms Plibersek claimed – straight-faced amid a chorus of derision from the crowd – that inaction on climate change was “a serious threat to our economy and our environment”.
We’re looking at losing the Great Barrier Reef, Kakadu National Park, the ability to feed ourselves,” she said.
It wasn’t Ms Plibersek’s first appearance on the ABC panel show. She’s a regular guest, having evolved into the Eddie “Everywhere” McGuire of the Gillard government’s push to explain its carbon message.
Brian I am Australian and I live in an area where today’s temp is 13 C and tonight will drop below
minus again. It’s got nothing to do with Andrew Bolt is fine anti-climate change TV and Radio journalist. And you have not mentioned the recent Q & A program on ABC 1st August, available for you to view, where Tanya Plibersek was spouting the climate change disaster old hat alarmist propaganda and featured on this clip. Bob Brown was referring to koala bears. I don’t know where the Norwegian massacre was at all mentioned. Put your glasses on mate! Or put them down?
The upside is that Australia can advertise itself to the world as: “The Gateway to Antarctica–New Frontier of the 21st Century.”
We have a carbon tax in the province of British Columbia Canada, hope the government idiots take notice of the Australian protest. Andrew Weaver and David Suzuki you guys may have to learn how to duck.
10 seconds in – I’m sure Gillard says “assification” instead of acidification… Just about sums up her ‘policies’ really…
Regress Australia, poor. So long and thanks for all the amusing beer and lager adverts.
Get a life Brian. And enjoy your government’s recent mail out brochure on a clean energy future. It might give you a better laugh.
Brian lives in the real world…no…he does….honestly.

Australia was a nicer place to live than Northern Europe, America and Asia. But all illegal immigrants are now being sent to Malaysia for assessment. Another ALP mistake.
Only joking mate. I would not wish this government on anyone. Particularly Australians. LOL
Thanks everyone for confirming my point.

Brian, MMMaaaaaaaatttee, Take a Bex and have a good lie down. The video is taking the p&^s out of the scare campaiging that’s been goin’ on for the last 15 years.
If you think that has anyrhing to do with science, you need more then a Bex 🙂
For those not farmiliar with austraian medications, Bex was advertised to the point of making it into the Australian Venacular during the 50-60’s. Most ills could be treated with a Bex (Asprin) and a “good lie down”.
And if you want to learn about the science, you’ve come to the right place Brian.
Bolta will sort out the politics for you though.
A good laugh! Thanks.
Its very embarrassing being an Australian right now. I can laugh along with jokes about beer drinking Aussie stereotypes etc etc but now we look seriously nutty to the rest of the world. One guy I heard being interviewed on radio recently was being roundly praised because of his bold plan to relocate the entire population of the Gold Coast (about 1/2 million) inland in the case of flooding due to global warming. People like that once used to attract psychiatric assessments.
Can anyone out there please save us? We are about to pay for the privelege of burning our own coal through Carbon Credits and our Prime Minister is threatening the only news media who are disagree with her.
It used to be such a nice place.
In all their history? What? Just over 200 years of actual history…in the true meaning of the word.
Thanks for the laugh Anthony. Mind you, I wonder how many unthinking people will swallow it whole?

They missed this one from Ghostbusters:
G
Long long ago in old London Town everyone had a coal fire, even the trains ran on coal. In the winter you could see the smoke rise up from the chimneys. Some times an inversion layer formed. You could then see the smoke fall from the chimneys to the ground. This smoke would cause a smog that you could taste and traffic would come to a standstill. The brickwork of the buildings had a permanent black layer on them . All that trapped CO2 then reached a tipping point and the trapped smog became so hot it scalded everyone. Not really, bronchitus was a bit more common but we all survived and got on with living as normal with a few minor adjustments to our schedules.
Gillard has completely lost the plot. It must be possibly to remove her on grounds of madness. (And being Welsh not a born Australian). You can expect this sort of rubbish from the Greens though.
I do not believe that any sane Australian could buy into this.
Nick 1.51 am. Yeah and it caused kidney damage, people were swallowing it when they had

“Ecotretas says:

Unfortunately, yes. However, I believe there is a growing change in the tide of public opinion, there are many facebook pages dedicated to stopping the madness permiating through the halls of power. There is also a convoy of truckies, farmers, small business owners etc etc planning a protest drive from all parts of Australia converging on Canberra soon. Still, voting Aussies (Don’t blame me. Rudd pulled the trigger before I could get my citizenship sorted) got what they voted for.
Oh yeah, for Brian, Canberra had it’s codest May day ON RECORD this year. Darwin had it’s COLDEST autumn in decades. But again, a few days, or months, is not a trend unless it’s warm, right?
I used to live in tropical Darwin, in Northern Australia. It reached a record low of 15C and the headline of the local paper screamed “Darwin Freezes”
A lady on local radio mentioned that she was driving her son to school who commented when she turned on the heater in the car: “I didn’t know cars had heaters!”
Government is a genre of literature.
We started with 1 convoy, then 5, then 8 and now 11 Convoys – due to the outrage from the Australian people being ignored, and the Federal Government ignoring the will of the people – Australia did not “get” the government they deserve – they were betrayed!
There are two types of scammers:
1. Those who try to sell you something that seems to be too good to be true.
2. Those who try to sell you something (carbon taxes) that would save you from something (end of the world by climate change) that seems to be too bad to be true
Kelvin V at 2.26 am. Yes Kelvin I lived in Potters Bar then, and traveled on a steam train to the Bank of England. My petticoat had to be changed twice a week as it had two or three inches of grey smut stain on it. When the diesal trains came in then it wasn’t as bad. When the smoke free zone was endorsed, in 1962, they had smoke inspectors. I was in Cyprus from late 1960 – early 1963 don’t know much really what happened in London.
Anyone whose chimney was seen emitting smoke was warned once, but if they didn’t obey were fined 200 pounds. They burned coke or coal lite. Within 10 years the Thames was seeing
again dolphin or porpoises swimming in the lower Thames around London. The buildings were
clean again as a good omen the swallows were nesting under the big business houses in the City of London. But 1963 was one of the coldest English Winters since 1947. I returned in early Feb
1963 and luckily had a sheep skin jacket. The Thames froze up at Windsor. Shades of the ice fairs in the 19th Century. And the Smogs. The 1952 Smog killed 6,000 people (more from later years who got lung problems) and I remember one in 1958/59 too, when people were selling smog masks in London. I was working there then. I remember the Smog went from inner London to about Barnet. But remember the atmospheric problems with London placed near the Thames.
I can’t remember buying a smog mask, but the Bank of England buildings all had air filters.
Just to let everybody know, there will be the biggest rally in Australian history on the 16th of August outside Parliament House at 12 noon. We want an ELECTION NOW. If you give a damn about democracy please come to Canberra, meet GROVER the truckie walking from Albury to Canberra in his protest . The Fabien party and the Greens are pushing global warming and sea levels rising. The Labor gov’t are telling old people in Gosford retirement homes they will all be under water and will have to move, they say the mayor of Gosford said so. Give us a break.
If polar bears are such endangered species, then surely this could not have happened? Maybe there are too many bears roaming around instead?
The father of a man from Plymouth who was part of a group mauled by a polar bear in the Arctic said what happened was “inconceivable”.

For several thousand years, there was much less sea ice in The Arctic Ocean — probably less than half of current amounts. This is indicated by new findings by the Danish National Research Foundation for Geogenetics at the University of Copenhagen. The results of the study will be published in the journal Science.<<

Hi Antonia.
Just what do you mean by “Ranga”?
The “Climate Disruption” of which they speak is called an election in the Northern Hemisphere.
URKidding
Just in case Antonia does not see your question “Ranga” is slang for redhead,as in Orangutang shortened to “Ranga”,Aussies used to call them”Blue” or “Bluey”,as in opposite to red.
Funny story from Adelaide
http://www.dailytelegraph.com.au/news/adelaide-zoo-slammed-over-free-entry-for-redheads/story-e6freuy9-1111117616805
ADELAIDE Zoo has dropped an ad campaign offering free visits to all “rangas” to highlight the plight of orang-utans after sensitive redheads complained.
Last week, advertisements ran offering “free Zoo entry for all rangas” during the school holidays.
Hi Noelene
So Ranga is short for Orangutan………….a dereogatory term for redheads.
My 5 month old granddaughter has red hair……….does that make a Ranga too???
Hope you feel good darling. I’m an Aussie so I did know what it meant. I just wanted everyone to know what sort of low life POS you are.
Still, I reckon on Orangutan would be a lot prettier than you.
URKidding, in Oz a ranga is a red-haired person. Urangatang; get it? My daughter married a handsome ranga and all four grandparents were hoping for ranga grandchildren. Alas the first issue has been a mousey brown haired female. While we love her to bits we know she carries the precious ranga gene!

Patrick at 2.26 about Australian history only 200 years old. Actually palaeoanthropology and Archaeology dates back 50 k plus but of course our indigenous people survived the ice age and mini ice age. I have a BA in this, and it proves that human evolution (palaeoanthropology) has proven without doubt that before 10,000 years BCE no modern humans Homo sapien sapien lived in the Northern Americas, Asia or Europe. But the earliest Australian colonists did record
Sydney weather as being a lot hotter than today. Australian Aborigines could not advance to
agriculture as we had no cloven hoofed animals only marsupials, and no native grasses that could be domesticated into wheat, barley or other cereals.
The thing is prior to before 10,000 years ago the majority of humans depended on hunter, gathering and possibly fishing from their immediate environment. That’s before the climate allowed them to develop domestication of some animals and agriculture of some kind as basic as it was.
The big lie, the BIG LIE is AGW and climate change. People thinking that CO2 is a pollutant,
and not just a natural GHG and that cutting carbon emissions and turning to green or clean or renewable energy sources will change the climate to the benefit of human beings, when there is no basis for this scientifically. I can’t tolerate this lie. And I believe it is everyone’s duty to make sure this lie doesn’t change government’s to promote clean energy or carbon taxes on the lie perpetrated that it will change the climate. King Canute knew better, why not these so called
politicians promoting the carbon taxes on Australia.

Funniest comment of the day!
They are so smart, well educated, and privileged and so full of it. How long before their sanity is questioned as the source of their eternal fear that ordinary people cannot manage their own affairs?
In the movie they were taking the most brilliant minds in research to another world to start mankind over from scratch in need of the essentials of life such as food clothing and shelter, but were there any farmers, miners or people in the trades? I have not seen the movie for a while so I don’t know but if the global warming people were in charge of who went on the ark they would fill it with politicians and bureaucrats.
I think PM Gillard raises an important issue and the following questions need to be addressed on a national level, that is 1. can assification be stopped in Australia, 2. are current levels of assification permanent, and 3. has it spread into the drinking water.
Funny, when I hear of worlds colliding… I think of Immanuel Velikovsky. Seems most think of the Hollywood movie. Is this a generational difference or a sign of the times? GK

This is one of the levers used behind the curtain to control the masses. We are the few wise men who take care of things for the good of society. Trust us. We know what we’re doing. We are royal and you’re not. We are the academic elite and well, you’re a dog. We are the Federal Reserve. Trust us. We know all about managing money and the economy. We, the exalted, have been chosen by the gods/god and well you haven’t been. Fear, force, religion, giving and withholding love, money, food and rewards all come into play.
Last night, I listened to a talk given by Richard Hoagland (former NASA advisor & Walter Kronkite science advisor). It is more of the same. The elite Templars, sons of Horus, have secret wisdom. It is written in the stars with tetrahedral codes, numbers and physics. Things happen on special dates like 9/11. We are the masters and you are….well the dogs/slaves who serve us. Trust us. We will take care of you in with our secret halls and councils. Look up to the stars for the answers. That way, you won’t see us pulling the levers behing the curtains.
Watching climate colonization is an incredible project implementation to watch.
Its the most alarming media broadcast since Orson Wells read out “The War Of The Worlds” as a series of news bulletins, that people thought was for real.
Thanks for a great chuckle – sadly the knuckle-heads in various governments are so far gone they can’t see that we’ve seen right through them. As I said during the Cold War era – show me where the bunkers are for all the ‘elite’ then let them go inside and seal the doors. Now we move in with the D9s and bury the lot.
Why the surprise? People have been brought up on science fiction ‘science’. Alien invasions, asteroid strikes, earthquakes, tornadoes, super volcanoes, ebola, commies, you name it.
That end quote really sums up the alarmists’ mantra: “This may not happen for a million years… but now you’ll see what could happen…”
I guess the Saskatchewan papers aren’t read across the border in Montana:
http://bing.search.sympatico.ca/?q=Saskatchewan%20Carbon%20sequestration%20fail&mkt=en-ca&setLang=en-CA
The stuff started bubbling up in groundwater. Some animals died in a quarry where they were suffocated by CO2 filling in low ground. From the Montana dome a leak would flow in all directions and fill in river valleys where peolple live.
This has nothing to do with climate – anyone with half a brain cell still working would recognize a socialists redistribution tax scheme in the guise of climate. The Brits have a similar scheme. The independent Brit Report on the government’s green plan entitled The Green Mirage, exposes the colossal scale of public subsidies for renewable energy and warns that by propping up many of these schemes, ministers have simply ‘picked losers’ and prevented the development of more cost-effective ways of generating energy.
It says the UK’s £5billion subsidy to renewable electricity generators in the eight years to 2010 was the equivalent of paying every worker in the wind industry £230,000. Each job in the wind industry was subsidised to the tune of £54,000 last year.

I am sitting here in my home in South East Queensland, watching the news come in about the flooding everywhere. Entire suburbs around Brisbane and several smaller towns are either isolated by flood-waters or have been evacuated. Highways are cut everywhere.
People have been dying. So far about 20 people have died in the past week – nine just this morning when a deluge went through the Lockyer Valley. Most of them children. Another 70 are missing. One could put it all down to “just” weather.
Except EXACTLY the same floods occurred in EXACTLY the same places back in 1974, with much the same tragic loss of life and destruction of property.
Back then we weren’t nearly as clever and learned as you think yourselves to be today. Back then we had this silly notion that climate was cyclical, and if we didn’t prepare for it, we would have a repeat of the same tragedies to deal with in “about thirty years”. That was the thinking of the scientists back then – that climate went in roughly thirty year cycles.
Flood mitigation programs were planned. A series of levee banks and diversionary dams would be built. Brisbane and SE QLD would NEVER suffer such devastation again. After all, we had thirty years to plan and build and improve.
And that’s what we did – or at least started. Wivenhoe Dam got built as the first step, but by the time it was finished clever people like you lot who “knew” that such things were never going to happen again had taken over. CO2 AGW madness had already taken hold.
Instead we had “post modern” minds like Tim Flannery “advising” the government that because of Anthropogenic Global Warming, SE QLD would be perpetually in drought from then on. “Forget dams and flood mitigation programs”, intoned the wise Dr Tim – “build desalination plants instead”.
So that’s what our government did. And that is why thirty five years later, we are once again suffering exactly the SAME tragic loss of life and destruction of property, pretty-much exactly where, and when, and how, those stupid scientists who foolishly believed climate was cyclical had predicted.

Perhaps you aught to re-read my post – it was about planning for natural 30 years weather patterns as opposed to the AGW pie in the sky thinking. The natural 30 years cycle proved which set of thinking was correct and it was NOT the AGW nonsense.

Oh wait, there is no more NASA… never mind…

No need to do that. I fully understood your point. I just feel that you failed to identify who was responsible for the Qld Government failing to follow correct procedures … and while some government employees could perhaps have mitigated the disaster if they had had the courage to act in time, Flannery is ultimately responsible, in my mind, for the death and destruction. That point should never be forgotten.
It should also never be forgotten that he was pushing the tripe that he was for his own personal financial gain.

“What the hell is Climate Disruption?”
“You see, the climate of the Earth, if left to its own devices, is perfectly stable and never changes. There is never any variation whatsoever.”
Sorry, but that teaching is a desinformation for blinds, because the global climate of the earth do change with different frequencies and its different amplitudes. A main frequency has a period of 913.5 years and we are now in a warm climate phase, which climate is warmer than a halve period ago, what people call the ‘Little Ice Age’. These changing’s are evident from hundreds of samples from all over the world.
http://volker-doormann.org/images/solar_fig_3.gif
The peak to peak amplitude of the temperature of the climate changing’s is about some 4° Cel.
“So if the climate shows a period of warming or cooling on a decadal scale, then we must have caused it. “
Wait. Climate is defined on a scale of greater than 30 years. But there is no reason to look on a scale of millennium of million years. If you find out that the oscillating function for a time range of millenniums or greater is valid, and the function shows mostly same warm climate as 913.5 years ago or maybe a little bit colder, than the logic is that you have to explain the whole time range.
For the changing of the global temperature on a decadal scale, it is well known that the earth because of its shape wobbles with a frequency of 1/1.1855 years, and that the fluids (air and oceans) on the surface of the earth resonates with the half frequency of 1/2.371 years or 28.45 month. Because of the heat content of the water of the oceans this leads to phases called El Niño e Southern Oscillation (ENSO) occurring again with an average of a half frequency of 1/4742 years or 57 month. “The global sea surface temperature (SST) anomaly data from 1950 to 1996 were used to analyze spatial characters of interdecadal SST variations. A wavelet transform was made for the equatorial eastern Pacific SST anomaly time series. Results show that there are three remarkable timescale SST variations: 130-month interdecadal variation, 57-month interannual variation and 28-month quasi-2-a variation. (QlAN Weihong et al.)”
In a recent WUWT posting: “Climate variability in East Africa & El Niño Southern Oscillation” it is spoken about an evidence that the ENSO frequencies are present until 20000 years in East Africa.
“If the climate is warming, it is because we are burning coal and creating CO2 but if it is cooling, it is because we are burning coal and creating aerosols.”
Well those are logic arguments. But the problem is that already the known changing’s of the climate on a long timescales without burning coal, one can see climate warming and climate cooling.
http://volker-doormann.org/images/solar_fig_1.gif
“Any variation from a model developed in a Columbia University lab is caused by us. This model is certified perfect in every way. It is so perfect that we have no problem spending billions of dollars in ways to minimize this “disruption” of the climate away from the perfect model temperature.”
Well these are again well known logic fallacies: Argumentum ad verecundiam (Appeal to authority) and Argumentum ad crumenam.
“There is no natural climate variability.”
It is a problem to give evidence for that, what not is.
“All variability is caused by human beings because the Earth’s climate is exactly perfectly stable and never varies (ever). If you don’t believe me, just ask a prominent climate scientist how much natural variation is “normal” on a decadal scale.”
Well this is again the well known logic fallacies: Argumentum ad verecundiam (Appeal to authority).
“Before thermometers we didn’t have nearly as much worry about the variation of the climate.”
The contend of isotopes in matter can be calibrate in °Cel. for about 100 of millions of years.
This gives us also information on the global temperatures for the last 1 Million years:
http://volker-doormann.org/images/solar_fig_4.jpg
Moreover, it can be explained on simple geometry and solar physics.
If one is crying ‘I can now go again, I can now go again!” it must not necessary a miracle, it can be simple the fact that his bicycle was stolen.

Hi Rhoda Ramirez,
I believe that sarcasm never will change people’s idea that AGW is fact, just the opposite.
I believe simple served evidence can do it. Evidence is also not to find in statements of any color, but in scientific arguments, each one can check and/or refute.
True words also may hurt, but this is connected always with a recognition process of the own self.
As one who has spent his whole life in the USA, where our present elected governance seems to be composed nearly entirely of dropouts from the Baraboo Clown College who can’t muster even a vain attempt to bring the spoiled brats who populate the vast bureaucracies which constitute our real government just slightly under their control, I hesitate to offer criticism of any foreign regime for poor performance. That being said, and from strictly an outsider’s point of view, what the present Australian government is attempting seems completely analogous to a poor deluded individual who takes himself to the public square, douses himself with gasoline, or perhaps ethanol, and self-immolates to protest the the lack of respect given to The Flat Earth Society.
Even if their plan would prove to be the singular historical exception from throughout recorded time of government plans actually achieving their purported goals and Australia should meet their proposed reductions in carbon emissions, the climate and the world wouldn’t and couldn’t notice because the effect would be undetectable.
Australia and its Commonwealth partner No Longer Great Britain are committing to ride the carbon demonization bus to the end of the line while all the other passengers have disembarked or are disembarking from it. Admittedly the CAGW crowd has been quite successful at indoctrinating the world populous to believe in the AGW part of their mythology. Where they have failed is in creating belief that the C part actually justifies their draconian plans, that have always been their real goal, in enough people to generate the political will to bring them to fruition. That failure is the real source of all their hyperventilating about the need for new communication techniques to revive this dying “crisis”. The world is, quite rightly coming to realize that, even if there are dark clouds gathering far over the horizon, there is no reason to take ourselves immediately to the basement and weld ourselves in to avoid the possible consequences of a storm which may well never arrive.
Some have been tempted to call the climate crisis a conspiracy, for which conclusion I admit there is ample evidence. But, to my mind, conspiracy requires at least an attempt at secrecy and covertness, which has been entirely lacking in this effort. Perhaps because they believed that their dominance of all the levers of information in the world (academia, journalism, entertainment, etc) would keep their real goals limited to the cognoscenti, the people who have sought to take political advantage of this phony crisis have been incredibly open about what those goals really are. This is somewhat puzzling since, from at least as far back as Gramsci, their leading theorists have recognized that they could never succeed in persuading the world to accept their distopian vision by openly advocating their true plans. For the best part of a century deceit and a frog in the pot incremental destruction of bourgeois western values has been their preferred strategy. Possibly the very real prospect that carbon demonization might be the ultimate weapon they needed to finally achieve what they have been pursuing for all this time caused them to break the discipline they have maintained for so long. Unfortunately for them their brand of egalitarian statism, in which everyone is reduced to the same soul crushing level of mediocrity except of course for the ruling elite, is still anathema to most of humanity and their golden moment happened to coincide with the Internet’s incredible democratization of information.
Of course most of the world doesn’t indulge in the kind of dedicated dumpster diving through the Net that is required to come across most of these political machinations, or most of climate science for that matter, but we may be approaching a test point of the hypothesis, mentioned in a recent post, that when 10% of a population firmly believe something they can swing majority opinion on a dime. I doubt that true believers in the climate conspiracy are 10%, but I also doubt if anyone knows that for sure, and we might be closer than even I imagine

Nice little earner if you can get on that gravy train.
Oddly enough our constitution forbids this woman from holding public office as she is under charges of treason in the high court of the state of Victoria Australia. These are yet to be heard charges but any one charged is forbidden. Strange how the left seems to be able to transcend the laws of the land, lie and cheat and still get elected. Is anyone working on how to save the human race when the sun becomes a red giant?
I watched “When Worlds Collide” on DVD in the last week or son. I also read the books “When Worlds Collide” and “After Worlds Collide” as a kid many years ago (I’m 54). I enjoyed them immensely but maybe I was too young to pick-up on the racial/ social commentaries that dtbronzich mentioned.
I may see if my library has them. I seem to remember that the Brits, who arrived in their own ship, get the Americans to call the planet “Britannia” instead of its scientific designation and that the Germans, Italians and Japanese built a ship of their own. WWII was fought out on the new planet.

“Is anyone working on how to save the human race when the sun becomes a red giant?”
Yes, there’s a Blue Ribbon panel made up of 6 Republican and 6 Democrat Senators with 12 at-large representatives appointed by the U.N. that are already in the final planning stages for the most effective global tax regime necessary to solve the problem. Obviously it’s going to take a lot of money to stop the sun from becoming a red giant, so we must ACT NOW!
P.S. Some of the panel members reportedly want to go on a junket to the sun (at night, of course) because they’ve heard it’s much warmer than Bali and they do NOT wish to freeze their patooties off like they did in Cancun.
;o)
“When Worlds Collide” Enjoyed the book, and the sequel, much better than the film.
Patrick Davis on 6th Aug @ 2.36:
You misunderstand the true meaning of history…that it is a WRITTEN record of a people. As the majority of the population in Australia has immigrated from Europe (and of course, there are now more from other parts of the world) their history is actually the history of Europe (or wherever in the world they come from), not Aboriginal ancestor myths.
Brian, as your beloved Julia would say, “Don’t write cr@p!”
Although I consider myself a science fiction movie buff, I do not recall the movie ‘when worlds collide’.
However, I have seen the first half, twice, of ‘On The Beach’ (1959);

By the way, a remake of When Worlds Collide is scheduled for a 2012 release.

“Some have been tempted to call the climate crisis a conspiracy, for which conclusion I admit there is ample evidence. But, to my mind, conspiracy requires at least an attempt at secrecy and covertness, which has been entirely lacking in this effort.”
The climate crisis, whether conspiracy or not, is at least a cover for the real conspiracy. As to covertness, what do you find if you look under the rug? Are the “cognoscenti” giving any reason why economists should be promoted to the position of Science Advisors? But by such means they have sought to redefine what science is, and that corruption of science is the outcome of conspiracy. More than secrecy and covertness, what a conspiracy requires is a reason for existing.
Why is Western industry being transferred to China? Why are vast tracts of Australian farmland falling into the hands of Chinese corporations? Why are we being made to fear that our steel mills will have to cease production in favour of importing Chinese steel made with our own coal? Is it so that we can stop making CO2? Of course not. The cognoscenti know darn well that the underlying reason is an economic one.
Why is Australian wealth being sucked up into the vacuum of artificially inflated real estate prices, from whence it can never return? (Yes, artificial. It was known that population would exceed accommodation and other infrastructure, driving prices beyond escape velocity.) And why is price always deliberately confused with value? Lies are piled upon lies. The reasons behind economic conspiracy are not being shouted from the rooftops, so we’ll have to guess.
My guess is that home ownership will become the preserve of the elite long before this century is out. And a “carbon” tax can only accelerate the process, especially with a percentage of the take going directly to Chinese interests (or is that just a rumour?) and the never-mentioned secrecy about applied administration costs.
I also guess that the controlling class in the NWO will likely never make the old mistake of allowing the working class to negotiate for better pay and conditions. In fact I’m sure of it. That’s the real reason that “wealth redistribution” favours China and India, but it must be at their ultimate peril or else there’s no reason behind the transplanting of industry, most especially not a climatic reason.
It completely escapes me how anyone could doubt the existence of conspiracy in all of this. But climate conspiracy? Well, whatever you want to call it, it remains an overt load of bovine intended to make us believe that the economic disaster being perpetrated upon us is for the purpose of saving the environment. The economic crisis has all the misdirection, secrecy and covertness you’re looking for.

Australian history or prehistory is a better description, is a subject I studied for my BA with a major
in archaeology and palaeoanthropology. We think the first Australians arrived around 50 – 60 k
years ago. But we are not sure where they came from or where was their first port of call?
However, there is a dissent of opinion between Aborigines that white people should not write about their history. As their view of their ‘history’ is different from the European view.
To me archaeology is an international science that can’t be disputed with empirical and material
evidence, however, the interpretations made will change as more of the archaeological record is
uncovered and previous assumptions may be revised.
Aborigines depending on their location lived well in the last ice age. That seems to suggest to me as hunter and gatherers then later fishers they adapted well in post glacial periods. Until of course the Macassans and later the Europeans arrived. Most died from introduced diseases they had no natural immunity to. And changing onto a western diet and alcohol. Colonial history is another of my interests rife with lack of written history or the records (all official) have been destroyed or lost. But it is slowly being being revised.
Australia was a rough place for early pioneers (So was UK and Ireland) and they often called on local Aborigines to help them. Of course lots of incidences of unlawful, genocide, abductions, and exploitation. Much like in the Americas where indigenous people clashed over territory and hunting rights. Unlike Northern America there were no cloven hoofed grazing animals, only marsupials.
Those of you from my part of the world (New Zealand), and seafood afficionados from elswhere, may understand why my extended family have coined a nickname for Ms. Gillard. To all of us, and all of our friends, and now you can share too, she is known as “the Orange Roughy”.
