I’m really disappointed that I didn’t get the “fossil of the day” award. Watch the presentation at COP16 and get some popcorn.
I wonder if the producers of Jurrasic Park gave permission to licensed use of the logo, of if they are just scofflaws?

Well, I’m comforted by the fact that it appears we’re in good hands…..
I am sure Michael Crichton would have had something to say about this!
This is so stupid it is actually funny, aside of the fact its a waste. The pollution they put out to go to cancun to put on this skit!

Is this how these people ‘save the world’? I think it can survive without them, really.
The dude in the gold vest looks a little like Revkin…
Sure makes me proud to be a Canadian. The only western country with enough sense to opt out of this climate madness.
Not only the logo, they are ripping off the music too.
Is their IQ larger than their ages?
I must admit it was difficult to decipher what exactly they were saying, but then I thought, where have a seen films of politically indoctrinated youngsters waving red flags with black emblems before? I seem to recall they had torches last time around.
Call me silly, but the first thing I thought was “what a bunch of losers”….
…..I’m probably wrong
As a Canadian, I am proud to share the award of three fossil awards by these dim bulbs. May we continue to overachieve in this respect. May our larger neighbour to the south take due note and join us in competition for the fossildom podium.
At least fossils lived in the real world.
I wonder how much “Fossil Fuel” it took to get these clowns down to Cancun? Was this funded by taxpayer money? This just goes to show how the elite environmentalists love to comment on others while their own footprint stinks.
Might I add to take note of the overabundance of the color Red and the choreography. The hallmark of the beasts we like to call Communists. Always amusing to see 200lb women try to do choreography and say we are destroying the planet by consuming too much.

Who paid for these clowns to be there?
At least, as a Canadian, I can take some pride in this award. With any luck, Canada could win the award every day during COP 16. At least let’s hope so. It proves our government is doing the right thing. Pretending to be serious about CAGW, and doing absolutely nothing about it whatsoever. Cheers for Prime Minister Harper and Environment Minister John Baird!!!!!
Good grief.
Well , that was eight minutes and forty seven seconds of my life wasted . Who are those clowns anyway ?
Wow. This is bad.

Reality sometimes is far stranger than fiction, and Cancun seems a very appropriate place for warmists to gather:
In Mayan ancient language it means: Snake pit.
See Wikipedia in Spanish:

desarrollo turístico de nivel internacional certificado por la Organización

Not clever nor interesting. Dare I say somewhat boring and moronic? How about sophomoric? I’ll stop there. By the way, how did all those kids get there? I hope they didn’t fly but used sail boats. Flying would be irresponsible contribution to global warming.
WTF???
And I mean that sincerely. I have no idea what just took place in that video. Do they have a circus too?
And they stole the music from the movie as well for good measure.
So in other words, Canada wins the freedom and truth award. Good for them.
It’s all about ritual and pageantry with the brainwashed warmista eco-nuts.
With any luck, there will be a build-up of swamp gas at their hotel.

Simply more evidence that youth is wasted on the young. Especially the young who can run up daddy’s credit card on a trip to Cancun for this nonsense.
Nice pictures of the global warming going on in Europe today in the wsj: http://online.wsj.com/article/SB10001424052748704679204575647000928405226.html Weather is not climate except when it is I suppose.
Well I’m old enough to remember the drug crazed flower children of the 1960s; and this bunch of flakes aren’t any different.
This kind of “documentary” needs to be exposed to the widest possible audiences to show what hope and change has led us to.
I thought it was hilarious, that these infants are still trying to blame President George W. Bush for our current ills. Hey ! Earth to Cancun; we’ve had two years of the new touchy feely “hope and change” with everything in Washington DC in the hands of the Socialist/Marxist Democrats, and their boy wonder President (but he IS The President); so how come they haven’t fixed all the mess that GWB created; there has been nothing to stop them; with the Republican opposition hamstrung by woosy RINOS, who haven’t succeeded in attaching any sort of amendments to anything the Obama administration wanted to rubber stamp.
So these children in Cancun; are barking up the wrong tree. Little do they know that it is THEY who are going to be handed the BILL for all of their childishness. Well come to think of it; those 60s flower children are now the ones in control of the whole operation; aren’t they ?
Say Canada; save a spot for me; somewhere in British Columbia; does Commonwealth membership count for anything these days in Canada ? If global warmig sets in as promised, I could become a semi retired farmer in BC; close enough to the salmon and steelhead fishing; not to mention those huge lake trout and char.
I heard some pleasant harmonies there and it’s always good to stick to a tune ‘everbody’ knows.
BTW just had on the Australian Sunrise morning program coverage of the local 350.org effort; namely using earth movers to ‘write’ 350 into previously undisturbed outback – nice parallels with the destruction being made to rainforest’s in Indonesian in the name of climate change I thought – and I emailed the artist concerned on that very point.. awaiting a response.
What inspired artistic genius! Gee…do you suppose these dolts came up with this masterpiece of performance art all on their own? I understand Anthony’s disappointment and humiliation for not winning. Cheer up, Mr. Watts…perhaps you can persuade some local grade school or middle school to come with an even better skit and award you all three prizes. But for now…GO CANADA!
The one redeeming value in this, is that someday in the future one or more of these kids will run for political office, and have to explain their antics. I almost feel sorry for them, when that day arrives.

Funded trips to Cancun for western youth.
Simply wonderful.
I wonder is scuba diving included?
I wonder which American Corporate Wealth fund paid for their trip.
American Corporate Wealth Fund massive sponsorship of Canada’s environmentalist groups was discussed in the Canadian Senate last week by the Honorable Stephen Greene
http://fairquestions.typepad.com/rethink_campaigns/2010/11/stephen-greene-remarks-senate.html
And they were right – it really was BIG OIL – Rockefeller foundation to be exact – but the big surprise is that the funding is actually going to the environmental activists not against them
To quote the Canadian Senator: “For example, the ads aimed at destroying Alberta tourism were paid for by the Rockefeller Foundation.”
For you to receive the award they would have to remake everything and add the word “old” in front. The carbon cost would be much to high.
They obviously had low turnout. Not sure why, but it may have had something to do with people not want to be seen associating with this debacle. Talk about ignorance on display, you should really keep it private, it looks stupid in public.
The guy in the hat is using this to get laid by all those young, unsuspecting females who are searching for self worth. Kind of like what a lot of fake hippies did in the 60’s.
Who gave them permission to use the Jurassic Park logo?
The electricity which could potentially be generated by Michael Crichton (RIP) spinning in his grave, would probably be enough to power a good-sized town.
And the worst part is that the AGW-promoting Canadian media (CBC, CTV) will feature this award as some kind of significant blow to Canada’s reputation. But they will never show this whole clip or anything to indicate how trivial this stunt actually is.
The best part was when the MC mentioned that everybody there was probably spending most of their time on the beach. Perfect.
If this is the prevailing intellectual level of the Cancun Conference then I shall relax a little.
But only a little.
Proud Canadian!
Wow a bunch of teenaged morons telling us how to run the world, who cares. I’m amazed they found time off from their drinking and blowing their parents money to find time to do this BS.
Paganism at its finest.
The RED color of the flags was most appropriate. I am surprised though that I did not see a Watermelon somewhere in the background.
I get a kick out of how much petroleum based products are utilized in this video… the clothes on their backs, the shoes on their feet, the trophies in their hands, the wee plastic flags, the microphone they’re talking into, the red carpeting on the podium, the ink and paint used to make their jurassic logo, the cameras used to record this event, and so on and so on and so on.
Not to mention the fact that it’s pretty safe to assume none of them paddled and canoed their way down to Cancun to present their little skit of hypocrisy.
Me thinks the heretics doth protest too much.
If any of them get kidnapped, we can redeem them with a boatload of carbon credits…
I hope someone is monitoring the total carbon footprint of the delegates at Cancun for release on its last day.

Shown more clearly in their annual report with Suzuki, Greenpeace, Oxfam, Sierra Club etc drones on their board. They get $431k from NGOs, $118k from ‘foundations’ and only $30k from individual donors, so usual greewash financing to help spread the right words to the faithful. Out of $600k in revenues, only 0.2% is spent on research and communications, so no suprise they rehash and proseltise on behalf of their sponsors rather than doing anything particularly original.

So it’s a party for young, dumb, unemployed activists and celebrity wannabees. Missing: Somber scientific presentation and sorrow for the HORROR that surely awaits us all. Remarkably happy group of doomsayers.
I long suspected that these young ecowhores are the children of hippies from the 60’s 70’s.

Well, maybe the methane given off by the rotting corpses might blip the NH temps by .01C. Of course, these are the same folks that are always telling us that they are the smart ones, who we should all shut up and obey, if we know what’s good for us.
Someone suggested that these guys are just trying to get laid, but scanning the crowd it would seem, while you might not be able to find easier targets of opportunity elsewhere, you’d certainly be able to locate more attractive possibilities almost anywhere

To his credit the artist involved with writing 350 in the outback did reply back. Although given that they used earth movers to put the 350 down, it is part of a larger bush regeneration project as the immediate area is ‘degraded’ (I really don’t like that word as a label after Indonesia) – so although I do not agree with the message, this should result in a larger good to the local environment. Just wished they had found a less environmentally disruptive way to put their message across.

Stockholm is forecast to experience its coldest seasonal temperatures for over 100 years this week as winter weather takes hold of the country, according to the Swedish Meteorological Institute (SMHI).
Temperatures across the country are expected to drop to record lows for the first week of December, with the exception of the far north, with averages coming in 7-10 degrees Celsius below normal.
Stockholm registered -11 degrees Celsius at the weekend, the coldest November temperature since 1965 and the mercury is set to plunge further on Wednesday and Thursday, dropping as low as -15.

A couple years ago my daughter attending grade 10 told me she had chosen to speak on the state of the Polar bears. She had done the research, and thought it wrong they were being put on the endangered list, even though their numbers had risen for her entire life time. I warned her of how her peers would respond for questioning this decision.
She got as far as: “Polar Bears have been placed on the endangered list even though their numbers are increasing”
She was booed so load that she could not continue, and the teacher allowed it,but the hipocrite gave her a passing grade, which I am proud to say she did not need or accept!

Fossil of the Day Award Site
http://www.fossiloftheday.com/?page_id=2
“Climate Action Network (CAN) regularly judges three ‘Fossil of The Day’ awards to the countries who perform the worst during the past day’s negotiations at UN climate change conferences. The slightly sarcastic yet highly prestigious awards are presented by Avaaz.org daily at 6pm during climate talks, followed by presentation by local activists at winning embassies in capital cities around the world. The Fossil of the Day awards were first presented at the climate talks in 1999 in Bonn, initiated by the German NGO Forum.”

“I wonder if the producers of Jurrasic Park gave permission to licensed use of the logo, of if they are just scofflaws?”
The Fossil of the Day is significantly altered and it’s not for profit as far as I know.
In your case you reproduced the Jurrasic Park logo without alteration and I’m not sure if this website could be considered a for-profit enterprise.
People who live in glass houses shouldn’t throw stones.
REPLY: And people who comment should look up “fair use” in media before hurling stones. Citing a logo in a story with clear ownership listed certainly is fair use. But, modifying a highly recognizable logo and making it the centerpiece of your organization and website and then broadcasting that modified logo worldwide on video? Not so fair use. The profit (or lack thereof) issue is immaterial. – Anthony

Go Canada Go – From frosty Faraway, Alberta (yes, it’s a real place).
These people are truly clueless. Here are some numbers:
The developed area of the Alberta tar sands is 530 square kilometres.
Cape Canaveral (Kennedy) is 570 square kilometres.
The endangered boreal forest in Alberta is 381,000 square kilometres.
The James Bay Hydro project in Quebec permanently flooded 13,000 square kilometres – a GREEN project – well maybe more blue than green.
Canada contributes 2% of the world’s GHG’s, shutting down the oil sands completely would reduce the world GHG’s by 0.1% and virtually bankrupt the country as jobs all across Canada are generated by activities in the petrochemical industries.

Snow in Vancouver!
Chilled Vancouver commuters faced their second day of winter hell today, as an additional ¼ centimeter of the peculiar white stuff fell, bringing the lower mainland to its knees and causing millions of dollars worth of damage to the marijuana crops. Scientists suspect that the substance is some form of frozen water particles and experts from Saskatchewan are being flown in. With temperatures dipping to the almost but not quite near zero mark, Vancouverites were warned to double insulate their lattes before venturing out.
Vancouver police recommended that people stay inside except for emergencies, such as running out of espresso or biscotti to see them through Vancouver ‘s most terrible storm to date. The local Canadian Tire reported that they had completely sold out of fur-lined sandals.
Drivers were cautioned to put their convertible tops up, and several have been shocked to learn that their SUV’s actually have four wheel drive, although most have no idea how to use it.
Weary commuters faced soggy sushi, and the threat of frozen breast implants. Although Dr. John Blatherwick, of the Coastal Health Authority reassured everyone that most breast implants were perfectly safe to 25 below, down-filled bras are flying off the shelves at Mountain Equipment Co-op.
“The government has to do something,” snarled an angry Trevor Warburton. “I didn’t pay $850,000 for my one bedroom condo so I could sit around and be treated like someone from Toronto ..”

That link gave a cost estimate for Kyoto implementation: $96 Trillion per degree C by 2050! IIRC, that’s several times the total damage to the planet’s economy by unrestrained 3°C warming by 2100 — assuming canonical AGW — according to Prof. Nordhaus’ DICE (cost-benefit) global model.
The distinction between mitigation and P-ing the money down the drain is that the latter would be more beneficial.
A hopeful sign? I just watched some Canadian TV news networks where these stunts were big stories for Copenhagen, and I saw nothing about this! And they must be getting bombarded with tweets etc. from this crowd.
Maybe tomorrow they’ll give Canada the Super-Duper-Extra-Bad-Fossil Award while dressed in polar bear suits to see if they can generate some more interest?

You have to forgive them. They’re just kids with few brain cells.
I guess I am becoming old, as the video just filled me with a deep sense of sadness that the young people in the video are probably the sort of kids whose parents love them for doing well at school and being interested in stuff. And they are being used in the worst possible way, a little like the string ensembles that were forced to play for the entertainment of their guards in the death camps, except these kids are unaware of the evil of those like Maurice Strong who are using them for their own ends.

I’m quite well aware of “fair use” policy. You evidently aren’t aware of transformative use. The Fossil of the Day folks are as innocent of trademark violation as you are due to material alteration of the logo and transformative use. And I’m afraid you really stuck your foot in your mouth about commercial use being irrelevant – it’s the first thing mentioned in the statute section on exceptions:
The Fossil of the Day website has no paid advertising on it, they aren’t selling things for a profit (like Weather Widget software and electronic gimcracks), so they’re in the clear for commercial nature (1) where in your case it’s not so clear.
In both cases the use is transformative as neither of you are advertising movies or making any use that could somehow be construed to harm (4) the studio or whoever owns the Jurrasic Park logo so it appears you’re both safe on that count.
The Fossil of the Day is clearly and substantially altered whereas you displayed an exact copy. Thus you’d fail the test for (3) and it would be a judgement call for whether Fossil of the Day used enough of the original mark to be infringing.
People who live in glass houses (and don’t know the law) shouldn’t throw stones.
REPLY: Heh, you haven’t a clue what you are talking about. And if you had been aware of “fair use” you would have mentioned it the first time. Sorry. I’m doing reporting. As you point out, “news reporting” is defined as fair use, something I’ve known for a long time. Using the logo in the article is indeed fair use, just as a newspaper might use the logo in a news story. Does the fact that the newspaper sells advertising for “widgets” negate the fair use for the purpose of a story? No. Would a newspaper or news website that used the logo to report on the movie, or something related to the movie be violating copyright even though other competing movies are advertised on the newspaper movie page? No. Neither is WUWT in using it in a news report with. Modifying a logo and making it your organization’s logo may be transformative, but as this thread demonstrates, everyone instantly recognizes it as the Jurassic Park logo. Perhaps not transformative enough?
Another example: Would a news story about fake Rolex watches violate the Rolex logo copyright by showing a comparison photo of two Rolex watches side by side, one real, one fake in the news story? Obviously not. My showing two Jurassic Park logos in a news story, one real, one fake (or transformative if you wish), is no different. Thus, your argument fails.
And…how do you know they aren’t selling “fossil of the day” t-shirts and knick knacks there at COP16? I see lots of things they have with that Jurassic Park turned fossil of the day logo printed on it all over the web. I guess we’ll just have to find out.
My question about whether they obtained clearance was an offhand remark of curiosity. But, since you’ve been so instrumental in elevating the issue beyond just a simple question of curiosity, I’m going to send a letter off to the licensing and merchandising department of Universal Studios to find out how they see the issue. If they have no problem with it, obviously I won’t either. – Anthony
UPDATE: I have received a reply from NBC Universal, they say it is NOT “fair use”.

I’m not aware of this company’s ability to use the logo. You might want to inquire how they got the rights to use it. It is not Fair use. If they don’t have authorization, eventually, someone will catch up with them.

I’ve made an inquiry with the web page designer fossil-of-the-day.org which also prominently features the logo, to see if they can shed some light on it. – Anthony
Add me to the list of proud Canadians.
And don’t call me Shirley. (We’ll miss you Leslie – another great Canadian.)
It seems nobody in Cancun at all notices the irony in the gold-chump’s opening remarks.
Everyone transported to Cancun mainly by air. All gorged on food. All chillaxing by the beach. Blackberrys, laptops, computers, LCD TVs, air conditioning, etc. etc.
Yet each one convinced they are better than everyone else for trying to “save the planet.”
I’d laugh if it weren’t so awful.
Canada the True North Strong and FREE!
We fought tyranny in WW2 and we’re ready to fight this tyrannical one world #$%^&*!
This proud Canuck knows where his bread is buttered.
Proud to be Canadian.
It would be great to point out that Canada has the strong economy while these other countries that these nitwits admire are going down the drain. The countries they admire will be sitting on street corners with their tin cups out in a few years looking for the rest of the world to save them. I can imagine the response they will get from China and I hope they get the same response from Canada. You can also be sure that 90% of those kids there will be also demanding aid from their countries so they can survive.
And to think we taxpayers are funding this toe-curlingly embarrassing activity. Still, rather them than me.
Speaking of Cancun, here in the UK (Scotland) the BBC failed to mention the Cancun Climate Summit. Not one word. Believe me this is a turning point in the AGW propaganda project.
Also, for the first time since it was opened in 1964, the mighty Forth Road Bridge was closed due to snow.

“In both cases the use is transformative as neither of you are advertising movies or making any use that could somehow be construed to harm (4) the studio or whoever owns the Jurrasic Park logo so it appears you’re both safe on that count.
The fact that these uses were outside the market is likely immaterial ( they’d get a cease and desist from my old legal department ). One test would be is the use likely to cause confusion or suggest an endorsement where there is none. generally speaking a company that knows how to protect its trademarks and brands will object to any use whatsoever of it’s marks, portions of it’s marks, even if they are transformed , especially if they are transformed as that can sully a mark you have spent millions promoting.
remember that mark is used to sell toys, books, movies, etc. not just movies.
Those fat little dancers could likely do with less processed food and a few more fossil fuel free walks.
Wow, one minute into this video this guy has proven to be a total, unadulterated, douche nozzle.

“The RED color of the flags was most appropriate. I am surprised though that I did not see a Watermelon somewhere in the background.”
Apparently you have heard that comparison as well. The eco freaks are like a watermelon,”Green on the outside and red on the inside”. How true, given that this entire Cancun hoedown is all about the redistribution of wealth. A shameless sham of a shakedown. Why, I am shocked, shocked at my production of an aliterative metaphor, and by accident!! Sorry, I just saw Casablanca again this week.

The Telegraph reports:
Professor Anderson needs to lead the way by example. Perhaps reducing his pay packet to a more sustainable level would help him avoid charges of hypocrisy.
And I would like to give a h/t to the website of Nonoy Oplas early in the thread, showing the lush extravagance of taxpayer-funded climate scientists, NGO’s and other lamprey-like hangers-on partying at the fabulous Moon Palace holiday beach resort at Cancun (all paid for by the unwilling, of course):

O to be a U.N.-approved climate scientist, eh? Fun in the sun, gorging on lobster, caviar, brie and white wine, while scheming to raise taxes and transfer national wealth through the U.N. and into the pockets of cronies. Life is good!
Craig B:
Too much snow, definitely, but maybe they could have coped if it wasn’t for the jackknifed lorry. However, one of the service managers did point out that this is probably the highest accumulation of snow they’ve seen since the bridge was opened in 1964.

Things might get even more interesting as the BBC forecast at 1.30 pm today suggested that the temperature in Scotland early Friday morning might be as low as -25 to -30 C, possibly breaking the lowest ever recorded of -27.2 C (last equalled in 1982). Not sure if it will get quite that cold, the forecasts last winter also suggested a new minimum record but it never happened in the end.
When you can keep your head while all about you are losing theirs, you’ll be a Canadian my child. (apologies to Kipling)
Hope this video is archived so when the definitive omnibus history of the decline and fall of AGW is written, this little gem will be available as reference material.
Awww, these little girls are cute!! (I’m a grandpa BTW). Too bad they have been seduced into the big GHG lie. No pressure.
Now, I could do without the fruitcake in the gold vest & hat….what the hell is this award supposed to signify, anyway??
I’d vote for James Hansen for CAGW Fossil of the Decade if I could.

I take it you are in Scotland too?
It’s bliddy freezing tonight.

Sunny Fife with a foot of snow in my garden. Just dug my thermometer out of the snow but it only shows -1 C (mind you it’s not a good one and right next to the window so it’s definitely colder than that). Kids off school possibly for the fourth day in a row tomorrow but they’re thankfully not bored of the snow! Bit bemused by it all, really, as a German I don’t think it’s that bad but the council clearly can’t cope. My parents live in Germany, on a rural road with just one neighbour and even that’s cleared daily but I reckon German councils simply have more snow ploughs/blowers and staff (as well as more money in the budget, most likely,) to cope with the winter.
Ah Maren, Fife, the birthplace of my beloved wife, from Ladybank with family in Lochgelly.
So far so good up here in Angus. Lots of salt on the roads but actually some of the local shops are running out of food. I’ve never seen that before.
I put it all down to “global warming”
It’s worse than I expected.
No hiding this decline.

I was thinking that was a trademark not a copyright. I’ll defer to your superior knowledge on trademarks. My expertise is in patents but I was involved in a number of minor online copyright disputes where the cease and desist resulted in immediate ceasing and desisting. One that was more interesting was in the production of a film “Expelled: No Intelligence Allowed”. One infringement claim was in regard to a molecular animation “Inner Life of the Cell” which was created by an independent who was commissioned by Harvard’s Life Sciences department. Harvard owned it and had made it public on youtube and elsewhere. The complainant was the independent who produced it for Harvard. The animation used in the film wasn’t the original but was done by an outfit hired by the film producers but they were clearly told to make something very similar. It was clearly derivative. Harvard didn’t want the bad press and made no complaint. The other item was about a 10-second audio clip of John Lennon’s “Imagine” and Yoko Ono sued. This was a few years ago and I spent a fair amount of time educating myself on fair use doctrine just for my own satisfaction and so I could talk about it from an informed position. The former (Inner Life) dispute never went anywhere because the copyright owner didn’t pursue it. Yoko Ono eventually lost the dispute in court. She had an ideological objection to the context surrounding the use (political commentary) and thought she could punish the producers through the clout of her legal resources. The producers had in fact anticipated the need for legal defense and budgeted for it from the outset and rather than back down just went ahead and used the legal defense budget they’d allocated.

I just bothered to actually watch the video. This is a bunch of college kids embracing a “Let’s Change the World” cause. That’s typical and I can’t bring myself to condemn them for it. At least they’re not spitting on veterans returning from Vietnam. I direct my ire at the grownups like Al Gore, James Hansen, Phil Jones, Michael Mann, and so forth who are manipulating these youngsters as useful idiots for personal fame and profit. The kids are innocents. The evildoers are the educated gray hairs.

“My question about whether they obtained clearance was an offhand remark of curiosity.”
It was churlish and that’s what set me off.
REPLY: It is relevant, because if you’ll look at my update above, you’ll see that NBC Universal says it is not “fair use”. I’ve heard back from the web developer, and he says the issue is all done on the fossil-of-the-day.org side and is washing his hands of it. So, I’m asking the fossils next. – Anthony
Makes me proud to be a Canadian. These global warming idiots are certainly audacious. Bravo Canada!!!
@Anthony
Fair use is whatever a judge and jury decides is fair use. There is no “right” to fair use there is only precedent that may serve as an affirmative defense if you’ve got the resources and desire to defend yourself. The blog I used to manage got regular cease and desist notices from publishers, especially scientific journals, for quoting too much of peer reviewed articles that were behind paywalls. In every case we rolled over and removed it but we continued with the practice and left it up to the publishers to continue deciding when we’d gone too far.
And by the way, I didn’t recognize the Jurrasic Park logo and wouldn’t have known the kiddies copied the general shape and layout of it without you pointing it out. Jurassic Park is pulp trash that doesn’t draw my attention.
I’ll bet dollars against donuts that the studio won’t put the kiddies on notice because of its potential to result in a David vs. Goliath public relations nightmare. The kids I’m sure would would welcome the publicity opportunity and play it to the hilt while immediately complying with the cease and desist notice. That’s what I’d do if I were them. Who’d win in a legal contest is anyone’s guess but if push came to shove I’d bet on the Hollywood studio who owns the trademark just because they can afford better lawyers.
Be that as it may it was still churlish of you to point it out. Your character is diminished by it.
@Anthony

Relevant? Really? That’s your story and you’re sticking with it? The battle against global warming nonsense now involves picking on children by trying to get them in trouble for trademark infringement. Well isn’t that just precious. Let me know how well that works out for you.
REPLY: Mister Springer, I hadn’t started looking into it until you made an issue of it, calling me out on an offhand comment that I hadn’t paid any more attention to. You have only yourself to blame. And, I’m not “picking” on anyone. I asked a valid question, and at your angry prodding, asking more now. I doubt the “fossil” crew will even respond to my questions anyway. And does asking them about logo licensing constitute “picking on” somebody? Good grief you have a strange view.
They’ll probably just remove the logo at some point in the future when nobody is paying attention rather than admit they pinched it. Of course if the situation was reversed, and say I used the Jurassic Park logo here for some purpose, you and a bunch of other people would be all over me. – Anthony
I always tell my own kids: “These days EVERYTHING is on record, so be very careful so that your actions/words today don’t come back to haunt you tomorrow.”
Twenty years from now when someone in the video would like to run for office, or for a high level position in a large corporation college, etc., he/she is going to look at that video and think: “OMG! How could I ever been so stupid!”
Then again, temptation is a powerful thing – Free trip to Cancun anyone?
Considering the errr…. “caliber” of these people, ya gotta admire how far they got with the whole agw fraud. But they also had Al Gore and numerous climate “scientists” in their corner. Now that those players are publicly known fraud artists, there just remains these artsy fartsy scientological enviro-nutbar activists to deal with. They do their own disservice to their own credibility every time they open their mouths or put on a silly productions like this. I hope they keep on keeping on.
I would wager you are one of a a very few people to accuse Michael Crichton of authoring “pulp trash”! While it is scientifically questionable, it’s still a pretty interesting novel and the movie was a watershed moment in film history.
Of course since then scientists have nearly mapped a complete mammoth genome. While certainly far, far younger and more plausable to do than dinosaur DNA, whose to say what is ultimately impossible?

That, too, is correct, but you have not seen anything yet if you have not compared the see of red that comprises Canadian athletes and spectators at international sports events to such manifestations under Stalin and Mao. It’s a legacy left by P.E. Trudeau. He often and publicly expressed his strong communist leanings and had us bear witness to his wishes by instilling in us our passion for the colour red at such events.
For those reasons, in spite of all of the common sense approach he promotes through his climate policies, Stephen Harper is still only heading a minority government. All of the progress he brought about can easily be undone in just one election, unless enough voters wake up. Unfortunately, the majority of eligible voters no longer bothers going to the polls.
Those are Canadians? And I was worried about our southern border…
