Next weekend, as delegates from 194 countries gather in South Korea for a crucial meeting of the UN’s Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, their big talking point will be whether the IPCC’s chairman Dr Rajendra Pachauri should resign – as a recent report from the world’s leading scientific academies seemed strongly to hint he should.
The delegates face a dilemma. If they sack him, it would be a serious blow to the reputation of the panel, which has been central to the global warming scare since its founding in 1988. If he stays, it could severely damage the authority of its next major report, due in four years’ time.

When we approached Teri Europe with our evidence, the charity’s secretary immediately admitted that there were “anomalies” in the accounts. The Charity Commission agreed to investigate. Not the least point of interest was that the charity’s trustees – “responsible,” in the commission’s words, “for approving the accounts before submission” – included, alongside Dr Pachauri, two other luminaries of the global warming establishment. Sir John Houghton was a founder of the IPCC, and had long played a key role in it. Sir Crispin Tickell was one of Houghton’s most influential allies back in 1988, as “our man at the UN” and as the adviser who talked Mrs Thatcher into enthusiasm for global warming at that crucial moment (a fervour she later disavowed).
Since it seemed that both Teri Europe and the trustees were in serious breach of the Charity Commission’s rules, this has led over recent months to a protracted series of exchanges with the commission.

Every time I see a picture of Patchy now, I hear that trumpet riff at the beginning of “Let’s Face The Music And Dance” in my head 🙂

Fred must really really have annoyed the High Priests at Greenie Central. He normally writes for the Guardian..the daily newspaper for very devoted warmists..and hater of all thing sceptical.
But writing for the Mail is the graiuniad’s equivalent of a journalistic death wish. It is a conservative mid-market tabloid, and as such will be abolished immediately the guardianistas take power. To even admit to reading it is professional death in libtard circles…to write for it is apostasy on a grand scale.
And patchy’s hitherto most ardnt admirer and efender has been george monbiot…teh guardian’s tame useful idiot who blathers greenie ‘wisdom’ at great length on all conceivable occasions. I cannot imagine that he and Fred will ever speak again.
Interesting days as the previously ‘on message’ Pearce finally begins to see the cracks and holes in the greenie cause. Its taken him a year, but he’s finally getting there.

Salute this man! Pachauri did what no climate sceptic is able to do. A Trojan Horse that destroyed the IPCC from the inside.
If Pachauri did not exist, we climate sceptics would have had to literally invent him. He is in fact every sceptic’s dream. How could we have asked for more when he embodies the UN Inter-Governmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) in all completeness? Interestingly, he also strongly epitomizes the typical climate activist and their organizations that they are attached. Did he mould both in his image or its vice versa is however for history to judge.
Next month 194 governments of the IPCC are scheduled to meet in Busan, South Korea. This is where a plot to ouster Pachuari could be unleashed. Pachuari remains defiant: “At the moment, my mandate is very clear. I have to complete the fifth assessment” The Indian Government who Pachuari is their candidate is equally defiant, backing him to the hilt. If Pachauri goes, we leave the IPCC! And if India leaves the IPCC, it can trigger an exodus.

If he leaves the only thing the average punter will take in is ” Head of climate change committee sacked” which means to them that global warming is a crock. If he doesn’t it is like cancer.

Interstingly, for all his claimed familiarity with the subject, Pearce spells out “Patchy”. To his friends and close associates who write about him in such terms, they write “Pachy”, which is of course correct, being a diminutive of Pachauri. Pearce, therefore, is assuming a familiarily he does not possess, reinforced when he refers to “Roger Parry”. He means, of course, Prof. Martin Parry.

As to Pachauri’s accounts, he also has TERI outfits in Dubai, Africa and Malaya, plus Japan. None of those are accessible to us, but if there are very obvious errors in the British accounts, then one can have little confidence in the veracity of his other accounts.
Crucially though, the signficance of the figures entered originally should not be played down. All the figures are below £10,000 – which means that TERI Europe does not have to submit accounts to the Charity Commission. Thus, its activities become invisible.
There is so little to laugh at these days.

If progressives, greenies and warmists are able to overlook accounting fraud in these “charities” then it confirms for me that the AGW movement is a religious endeavor. People’s belief system and religious passion can override good old common sense and scientific analysis. I will be watching the reaction over at Real Climate and other AGW worship centers to see how the believers try and spin this around to fault the skeptics.

Does the IPCC have a leadership problem?
I do not think so; it has a fatal structural problem. Its current questionable leadership is a symptom of the structural problem.
The IPCC structure is inappropriate for dealing with a scientific question.
A structural shift is needed toward a climate study organization embedded into an organization of major top tier private research universities. Remove it from the political environment completely. I recommend it (IPCC) should be un-embedded from the historically well-known political corruption inherent in UN management. Put climate study in control of an organization of private research institutions where it belongs.

Anyone who followed the U.N. Oil for Food Program knows that the U.N. is just a massive money laundering system on a scale so large that people cannot accept the truth of it simply because it is incomprehensible to imagine a fraud committed so large and so pervasive in front of everyone, in public and no attempt to hide it. AGW is just another example of it. It won’t be the last either. Sad really, really sad.
Dr Rajendra Pachauri should probably resign if he is just another bean counter. The issue is global warming, not money making. And for that matter, the repubs should resign also if they are going to drag the subject into the bean counting realm. The repubs should stick with and prove thier claims that global warming is a hoax. No matter how much money a repub has, it is not going to change the earths climate unless they spend it for that purpose. And if what they claim is true, they won’t have to worry about it anyway. They can bath in thier money and hunt terrorists while they go through your personel information.
I bet this turns out to be like the European Union itself, which has not had its accounts certified and signed off for the last – oh – twelve years.
So the people who advise us to diligently prepare our accounts (for tax purposes) and be scrupulously honest, fail their own advice.

I thought I read sometime back that the UN had decided to shorten the official tenure of the office of the IPCC grand poobah and make it retroactive to include Pachauri. The intimation was that Pachauri was to be sent packing very soon through this move.

Much as I despise and detest the guy, for the sake of the sceptics cause, we should start a ‘Save Patchy’ campaign. He has done more to cast doubt on CAGW than the Climategate email leak did!!!

I’d hate to see Pachauri go, because then I’d have no reason to re-post this.
The problem as I see it, does Pachauri’s resignation/termination galvanize the rest to forge agreements in his “honor”? I remember how during the US health care debate how congress tried to use the death of Kennedy to push it through.

Since the IPCC message is designed to create a crisis so a bunch of people and banks can make fortunes, why shouldn’t the head of the IPCC be the poster child of GREED?
The first time we see the word “Anomaly” used in an appropriate way….
I hope for times when other words like “robust” , “extrapolation” or “peer reviewed” will be correctly used.
