I agree – keep an eye on the EPA for an attempt to set up some sort of “carbon” control system – or even a cap and trade system without Congress.
If such a thing happens – you can be sure that Congress as an effective institution within the Executive-Legislative-Judiciary group will have been successfully marginalised by the Executive branch.
Hopefully it wont come to pass.

Apart from the money, I think another factor is that Progressives just can’t believe that their policies can be fairly questioned. What they want to do is so obviously correct, appropriate and generally good for all of us, that they can’t fathom that maybe a credible argument even exists. Sounds like religion to me…not that there is anything wrong with it.

And this is an ideal time to point out another extremely dangerous thing going on… Gates and Buffet’s challenge to billionaires to give away half their money.
Unfortunately, the vast majority of beneficiaries of this gigantic giveaway are or will be LEFTIST causes, since they’re the ones already set up as charities. We have to be prepared for even better financed children of the 60’s pushing their warped and distorted view of reality.

From September, thousands of British businesses will be liable for significant fines and charges under a new government “green tax” scheme. Companies that fail to register their energy use by next month will be hit with fines that could reach £45,000 under the new little-known rules. Those that do participate in the Carbon Reduction Commitment (CRC) initiative by declaring their energy use will face charges for every ton of so-called “greenhouse gas” they produce.
These payments are expected to average £38,000 a year for medium-sized firms, and could reach £100,000 for larger organizations. Surveys have shown that thousands of businesses are unaware they are supposed to be taking part, or even that the scheme exists at all. The imposition of new charges and fines will put pressure on firms at a time when economists are warning of a “double dip” recession as companies, consumers and the public sector all cut their spending.
Business leaders criticised the CRC — which was created by Labour but implemented by the Coalition — as “complex and bureaucratic”. One accused ministers of swinging “a big hammer” at companies and questioned whether it would have any environmental benefits.
Under the scheme, any company or public sector organization that consumes more than 6,000 megawatt hours (MWh) of energy a year – meaning a power bill of about £500,000 – must register its energy use by the end of next month. From April, firms will need to buy permits for each tonne of carbon dioxide emitted. For those using 6,000MWh, that could mean £38,000. The scheme is intended to create a financial incentive to cut energy use, and those organizations that record the biggest reductions will get bonuses, funded by penalties imposed on those with the worst record.
Of about 4,000 organizations estimated to qualify for the scheme, only 1,229 have registered to date, leaving thousands at risk of fines. Missing the Sept 30 deadline will mean an immediate £5,000 fine, and £500 for each day after that, up to a maximum of £45,000. Another 15,000 smaller organizations are also required to register and could be expected to buy permits in the future. If they miss the September deadline, they face fines of £500.
One recent survey suggested that 53% of executives had not even heard of the CRC and did not know whether their firm was affected. Bob Jarrett, of the BHF-BSSA Group, a trade body that represents thousands of independent shops, said ministers had not done enough to explain or justify the CRC. “We’ve only come across this in the last few weeks, and yet the deadline is at the end of next month. The Department for Energy has not given this nearly enough publicity,” he said.
The Environment Agency, which will run the scheme for the Government, has refused even to publish a list of the companies that are required to register, citing the Data Protection Act. The Coalition is pressing ahead with the CRC despite Conservative pledges to cut red-tape on businesses.
…So there you have it. A scheme that has no environmental benefits will force your business (whatever size) to register with a government agency or face massive fines. Having registered, you then have to record how much “greenhouse gas” your company produces (at your own expense, of course). Then you just have to buy permits in order to carry on doing what you were doing in the first place, but if you buy too many permits you will also have to pay extra fines and penalties for your excessive “emissions”. And all this is because of the lying propaganda that has brainwashed a generation into believing that carbon dioxide is causing “catastrophic global warming”. That’s what AGW is really all about, and, thanks to Gore and his pack of liars, it’s heading for the US next.

I understand Al Gore causes anger, but a few postings go to far in my opinion, namely:

Though I’m rather late to the party on this story, allow me to take on Mr. Gore’s assertion that the government has failed us.
If the point of any form of representative democratic government is to provide a forum for the orderly debate of issues affecting the whole electorate, then it follows logically that all of the points of view within that electorate be provided at least as much credence and voice as they exist within the population at large. If the point of view held by Mr. Gore were the only point of view active within the whole population, then, yes, I would agree that the government has failed us by not enacting a federal legislative mandate.
But that’s not the case.
There are indeed other points of view held by those within the electorate, and in order for our representative democracy to actually do it’s job, those points of view must be provided the same credence and voice as Mr. Gore’s. Additionally, there’s the matter of perceived level of importance which must be taken into account. As our economic position has continued to erode, evidence continues to mount that the public at large place the whole climate change issue at a steadily lower level of importance as compared with other concerns. I don’t think that’s even particularly controversial at this point in time. People care much more about jobs, keeping their homes, the wars in which we’re engaged, than they are about climate change.
So based on this brief analysis, since there are other points of view than Mr. Gore’s, and since the issue is declining in importance to most Americans, it’s axiomatic that our representatives to the government should rightly a) hear out both (or should I say all) sides in the debate, and b) ultimately turn their attention to the issues and concerns which weigh most heavily upon the minds of their constituents. Without doing both, they would indeed be failing us.
Mr. Gore’s assertion that government is failing us is based entirely on the dual premises that they a) should have suppressed any points of view different than the one he holds, and b) they should have placed much greater importance on the issue than the body politic does. But those premises run contrary to the purposes of a real representative and democratic form of governance. Therefore, we can only interpret Mr. Gore’s statement in one way – his understanding of the fundamental role of representative democracy is faulty, because it’s only that faulty understanding which can support the conclusion that government failed us.

To a small extent man does contribute, but something like Eyjafjallajökull can easily overwhelm that. I look for the oceans to quickly warm back up unless we get a good size high altitude eruption or two(3) pretty soon.

When pressed really hard, most warmists will result to the killer tactic of citing the precautionary principle to bolster their lack of empiricism. I concur, a lack of full scientific certainty should not preclude appropriate action. However, appropriate action does not include; abusive name calling, jostling elected members or damaging other persons property. In behaving in this manner they only diminish anything they might choose to say, true or otherwise.
