Gore cancels on Copenhagen lecture – leaves ticketholders in a lurch

It seems the uncertainty about Copenhagen is growing. When Al baby pulls the plug, you know it’s hosed.

From Berlingske: Al Gore cancels lecture during COP15

Al Gore cancels lecture during COP15

Former U.S. vice president has canceled his event, more than 3,000 Danes have purchased a ticket. Photo: JOSE MENDEZ

Looks like they will get a refund though. Might be worth more as a collectors item in ten years though.

I wonder how many people have shelled out $1200 to shake Al’s hand? Maybe not enough and he couldn’t cover the expenses for his private jet?

From the Washington Post:

“Have you ever shaken hands with an American vice president? If not, now is your chance. Meet Al Gore in Copenhagen during the UN Climate Change Conference,” notes the Danish tourism commission, which is helping Mr. Gore promote “Our Choice,” his newest book about global warming in all its alarming modalities.

“Tickets are available in different price ranges for the event. If you want it all, you can purchase a VIP ticket, where you get a chance to shake hands with Al Gore, get a copy of Our Choice and have your picture taken with him. The VIP event costs DKK 5,999 and includes drinks and a light snack.”

Wait, what? How much is that in American dollars? The currency conversion says it all, too: 5,999 Danish kroners is equivalent to $1,209.

“If you do not want to spend that much money, but still want to hear Al Gore speak about his latest book about climate challenges, you can purchase general tickets, ranging in price from DKK 199-1,499 depending on where in the room you want to sit,” the practical Danes advise. “There will be large screens, so that everyone will get a good view.”

Yah, such a deal.

Why would anyone pay $1 dollar to listen to Al Bore talk about pseudoscience and manbearpig? Maybe they want to hear that the earth’s core is the same temperature as a small red dwarf star and the crust is very hot too (which explains the sheet of ice on my car this morning). He should’ve asked Travolta to take him. He’s going anyway so give your old buddy Al a lift.

You never see those guys with “The End is Near” sandwich boards smiling like Al is in this picture. Wattsupwiththat? Is that smile obscene or what? How can you be such a doomsday-er and still look like a silly sneak who just woke up and realized that he had won the lottery, an Oscar and a Nobel prize all at the same time and on complete joke. Now comes the later realization that the rest of the world is also just waking up, and will see him for what the charlatan he really is. His historic reputation is going to one for ages. The front man for the biggest scientific and political boondoggle ever. The bigger they are the harder they fall. He who smiles last smiles best.

The real question is asked in the article. How many tickets did they sell? Who would pay to touch the hand of this man? And to have photographic evidence of it! It could qualify as one of life’s most embarrassing moments. You would ever after have that story to tell at parties when the game turned to sharing the dumbest thing you ever did. It would trump a lot of other stories, but brand you as naive no nothing too, so probably still not worth it. People are beginning to understand that it’s time to distance themselves from the global warming thing. Probably more people would pay $1,200 right now for cover that would give them plausible deniability than for something that would indelibly establish them as belonging to that vanishing species called a Warming Alarmist of the Al Gore Tribe.

CNN, NBC, ABC, CBS, and others need to be investigated and indicted as accomplices in the Climategate fraud, and have their FCC licenses revoked for their participation in perpetuating the fraud.
The power of the MSM to influence the minds of the public and brainwash the listeners is a documented scientific fact therefore, they must be held to a higher standard when broadcasting and be held to account for the lies of omission they take part in as well as the pervasive political one sided agenda they push.
FCC rules have been violated by not reporting on the Climategate scandal and their crime is obvious. The public must demand an investigation of the MSM.

I wonder if GE’s spinning-off of NBC Universal to Comcast (and only retaining a 20% stake) is their initial volley at throwing-in the towel on their “Green” business model, which was heavily based on getting Cap-and-Trade passed as well as all the future carbon trading schemes which may now be (hopefully) derailed forever by Climategate. GE Chief Executive Jeffrey Immelt used NBC, MSNBC, and The Weather Channel to get their global warming message out – and it is inexplicable that they would divest this part of the business unless they see the writing on the wall for CO2-based business models.

December 3, 2009 11:23 am

I guess now that people are looking more closely, Al Gore is afraid his appearance will draw attention to how Enron was a huge supporter of cap-and-trade with Ken Lay himself pushing it. Krugman unsurprising was on the Enron payroll, so that could help explain his recent tirade and projection about who is on whose payroll. Greenpeace and others took large sums of money from Enron. Then there’s also the matter of Shell and BP and a number of other companies who stand to gain with cap-and-trade. I’ve been disappointed in Discover Magazine and New Scientist, but – surprise surprise – whenever I see those magazines trying to explain it away, there’s an ad for Shell paying for the article. There really needs to be a hardcore push showing who stands to profit (and what the relationships are) from Copenhagen.
I’m not saying pro-AGW or anti-AGW is purer than the other, just by cancelling out all these “You’re in X’s pocket” can then put more of a focus on the science instead of letting PR spin attempt to distract away.

December 3, 2009 11:25 am

There is not enough political capital in the world to make this go away. Gore realizes this by now. The BBC is still pretending it can hand-wave the entire episode – its featured article on the entire scandal is nothing more than an irrelevant rant about science. The liberal media is throwing itself under the bus trying (and failing) to obfuscate the issue.

Don’t celebrate too soon. Long way to go. I’ve posted part of this elsewhere but maybe someone will comment.
The dreadful Nature editorial underlines the nature of the crisis. Hope I’m wrong but but I would have thought it obvious that those of us sceptical of AGW will, as we approach the date for Copenhagen and beyond, continue to be sidelined into obscurity. Aside from a few minor reactions to ClimateGate (maybe the odd sacking) the bandwagon will roll on with its massive economic effects being felt across the planet and certainly by everyone in the West.
Isn’t it time for those sceptical of the AGW thesis to consider a focussed strategy with as centrepiece, one well publicised single web location detailing at various technical levels every argument ever put forward for the AGW position together with an authoritative and exhaustive rebuttal or at least a presentation of evidence demonstrating the science is certainly NOT settled?

sorry guyS but OT .
Some news from NIWA n.z to last weeks story .”Climate scientists say temperatures in New Zealand have risen 1degC between 1931 and 2008″.
A 1995 study identified an upward trend of about 0.7degC from 1900 to 1993 in night time minimum air temperatures measured from ships over the ocean surrounding New Zealand.
It was responding to a continuing row — the so-called “climategate” controversy in which the private emails of climate scientists were hacked and leaked on the internet by climate change sceptics who accused them of manipulating data to show the world’s climate is warming.

His wallet is more important than giving a talk at some meeting. The pressure is on to abandon the Cap & Trade bill in the senate. This bill has to pass for him to make billions of $$$. So, this is where he must work right now. You should contact your senators to make sure they have the proper information before he puts pressure on them. They should also be aware that Al is no brainiac in science… the man does not even know the temperature of the core of the Earth…
Mantle is about 870 degrees Celsius.
Outer core is about 4,400 degrees Celsius to about 6,100 degrees Celsius.
Inner core is about 7,000 degrees Celsius.

Global warming is a total hoax perpetuated by psueudo-scientists who are actually Marxists in disguise. It is an attempt by Europeans and others from socialistic countries that are jealous of the success of the US and are thus trying to cripple our economy.

I’ve tried twice to post a link to two different articles on WUWT to the BBC Newsnight website comment area – both have been ‘moderated’.
I’ve just left this comment – let’s see if that gets deleted too
“Why are you referring references to a specific website with 3m hits in the last two weeks to moderation?” There are plenty of links to other sites so it’s not an exteral linking issue.
I’m appalled. They did let through a comment where I said ‘ At 6:44pm on 03 Dec 2009, you wrote:
“Forgot to point out that the MWP referred to is the Medieaval Warming Period where vineyards flourished nr Hadrian’s Wall to grazing cattle in Greenland.
Prf Jones et al would have you believe that this is ‘an anomaly’ despite it lasting 400yrs and documented widely by historians.
It doesn’t take many braincells to notice that it is not that warm now since Greenland is mostly covered in ice. To make ‘global warming’ a ‘fact’ they simply left it out. I don’t think that there were many SUVs or coal fired power stations then either, do you?
Seriously, look at the emails and code comments – its there in b/w

Gore must be a big fan of Photoshop. That image of the Earth behind him has an artificial lens flare added to the Earth’s horizon. In order for the Earth to be illuminated as shown, the Sun would have to be well to the right of the photo, and not barely coming up on the horizon.
There is nothing wrong with photoshopping images, as they are pleasing to look at. But with a reputation for photoshopping hurricanes onto an otherwise calm Earth for his book cover, he should really back down from this practice. This is especially true as Climate-Gate continues to emerge and he gets drawn into the fray.

According to the Berlingske link at the top of this page, the reason is because of “unexpected changes in Al Gore’s program”.

On the theme of rats jumping ship, if you care to venture into Huffington Post’s Green page, it’s sort of interesting to see several op-eds on the left calling for scrapping cap and trade.
They still claim climate change is an imminent disaster of course, but cap and trade is the wrong approach. Maybe I’m too optimistic, but I hope this is one more sign that that atrocious bill is losing support.

Here in dear old blighty(UK) our dear leader Gordon Brown has been getting quite a reputation as a latter day Jonah spreading bad luck and chaos wherever he goes and whatever he touches, he is so desperate for some positive press that he took it upon himself to inflate the importance of the Copenhagen summit calling leaders around the world urging them to “put their reputations on the line to ensure the success of the summit” and it looks like he has cursed the whole circus.
As soon as our unelected mad pretender jumps on a bandwaggon you can be pretty certain the whole thing will collapse into rubble, still after the charade goes tits up he will of course claim that he was opposed to the whole idea and was indeed a sceptic all along as I suspect will Al Gore?
In the US I believe Mr Obama has staked his reputation on the great global warming swindle, ooops he should have known to keep his distance from the Jonah across the pond in little ole England land town.

After a decade of being accused of being in denial about AGW (or being called a ‘contrarian’) it seems to me that it’s the the AGW crowd that have been in denial ever since they spotted that temperatures were just not rising along with CO2 concentration. In view of the fact that U. S. law procedures have been extended to the terrorists in the Middle East and that the Supreme Court of the U. S. regularly bases its decisions on foreign law, it is perfectly reasonable to extend U. S. law to Britain’s East Anglia University and the CRU computers..

At the end of this period, a dramatic climate change from very dry to very wet took place — driven by changes in solar radiation — resulting in the creation of an icecap. A new scientific method called Close Enough.
————————————————————-
Climategate: Science Is Dying
Science is on the credibility bubble.
By DANIEL HENNINGER
http://online.wsj.com/article/SB10001424052748704107104574572091993737848.html?mod=rss_opinion_main#printMode
Surely there must have been serious men and women in the hard sciences who at some point worried that their colleagues in the global warming movement were putting at risk the credibility of everyone in science. The nature of that risk has been twofold: First, that the claims of the climate scientists might buckle beneath the weight of their breathtaking complexity. Second, that the crudeness of modern politics, once in motion, would trample the traditions and culture of science to achieve its own policy goals. With the scandal at the East Anglia Climate Research Unit, both have happened at once.
I don’t think most scientists appreciate what has hit them. This isn’t only about the credibility of global warming. For years, global warming and its advocates have been the public face of hard science. Most people could not name three other subjects they would associate with the work of serious scientists. This was it. The public was told repeatedly that something called “the scientific community” had affirmed the science beneath this inquiry. A Nobel Prize was bestowed (on a politician).
Global warming enlisted the collective reputation of science. Because “science” said so, all the world was about to undertake a vast reordering of human behavior at almost unimaginable financial cost. Not every day does the work of scientists lead to galactic events simply called Kyoto or Copenhagen. At least not since the Manhattan Project.
What is happening at East Anglia is an epochal event. As the hard sciences—physics, biology, chemistry, electrical engineering—came to dominate intellectual life in the last century, some academics in the humanities devised the theory of postmodernism, which liberated them from their colleagues in the sciences. Postmodernism, a self-consciously “unprovable” theory, replaced formal structures with subjectivity. With the revelations of East Anglia, this slippery and variable intellectual world has crossed into the hard sciences.

Inside the covers, three pages were devoted to Algore’s climate science.
This issue of the Costco Connection evoked an email-to-the-editor response.
One email suggested a contrarian response by a skeptic such as Dr. Fred Singer.
The editor complied with an interview with Dr. Singer on the subject of climate for the December issue of the Costco Connection. Dr. Singer’s interview covered the bottom two fifths of one page. “Your [denier] has no regard for human life, not even of his own. For this reason men, I want to impress upon you the need for extreme watchfulness. The enemy may come individually, or in strength. He may even appear in the form of our own troops. But however we must stop him. We must not allow him to gain entrance to this [conference]. Now, I’m going to give you THREE SIMPLE rules: First, trust NO one, whatever his uniform or rank, unless he is known to you personally; Second, anyone or anything that approaches within 200 yards of the perimeter is to be FIRED UPON; Third, if in doubt, shoot first then ask questions later. I would sooner accept a few casualties through accidents rather losing the entire [conference] and its personnel through carelessness. Any variation of these rules must come from me personally. Now, men, in conclusion, I would like to say that, in the two years it has been my privilege to be your commanding manbearpig, I have always expected the best from you, and you have never given me anything less than that. Today, the [world] is counting on us. We’re not going to let them down. Good luck to you all. “

Anthony, we should be voting for WUWT not only as the top science blog for 2009, but as the top comedy blog. Your pictures are “deadly” (The Evil? Satan?) and you invite your your witty readers to make hay while the sun do shine. I have (almost) never laughed so hard. Special notice goes to elmer’s contribution — the “The Twelve Days of Global Warming” (3:27:47) – by Minnesotans 4 Global Warming

I swear to you, everytime I see Al Gore, he looks more and more like the Wizard of Oz. And, it seems that like in the Wizards case, the curtain has been pulled aside for Mr. Gore also. Liberals have an amazing record, however, in getting people to believe in the stupidest most damaging things to their own well being–multiculturalism that isn’t, absurd forced programs consisting of every stupidity conceivable. Mass immigration to Western nations, making citizens and long time taxpayers of those nations second class citizens by giving preferences of every kind to the new “immigrants”,etc. All of this only happens in Western Nations for some reason. It is a testimony to the stupidity of some people that they would spend, in the economy such as it today is, one thousand-two hundred dollars!!!!! to listen to Gore.

And for the record, I don’t even remotely agree with this stuff. It’s childish and looks bad for whatever side uses it. Even though the left seem to love this stuff. I’m actually more impressed with the woman yelling “You’re an idiot” to the “protester” than with the “protester”.
The right is just going to have to figure out how to protest properly.

(I think William F. Buckley about Gore Vidal, but somehow apropos anyway…).
Would that other sites were as civil, informative, and interesting as this one.
Kudos to Anthony, the moderators, and all the contributors to this site,
and the WUWT community – the REAL real climate, as it were…
It seems the CRU folks (et al) have forgotten that a primary tenet of science
is skepticism, in that a theory is accepted until shown to be wrong, at which
point the new theory is accepted, although subjected to further scrutiny
then replaced when a better model comes along, etc.
Open review of data, processes (e.g. programs, models, etc.) facilitates
further analyses and progress, something which appears to have been
impeded by the Climate Gate being closed (as it were….sorry about the pun).
Here’s hoping that not just the MSM, but the voting public in general
sees the truth here, and digs deeper to see ‘Watts Up with That’.
All our (AGW-siphoned) money could well be used doing real science

Jeff;
“… in that a theory is accepted until shown to be wrong, at which
point the new theory is accepted…”
It is not required to propose a new theory to replace the old one. Simply disproving the existing one is sufficient to have it discarded.
That is part of the scientific method.
The AGW theory predicts that and increase in CO2 causes an increase in global temperature.
CO2 is higher now then it was in 1990.
Average global temperature is the same as it was in 1990.
The prediction made by the theory is wrong therefore the AGW theory must be discarded.

REPLY:
Naw. I think he is worried his whole state is turning against him and you remember what they did to that Federal census taker a couple months ago. The people of Tennessee are NOT a people I would want as enemies.
LETTER from Tennessee General Assembly to ALL other State Legislatures:
“The following is a letter from Tennessee to the other 49 State Legislatures
We send greetings from the Tennessee General Assembly. On June 23, 2009, House Joint Resolution 108, the State Sovereignty Resolution, was signed by Governor Phil Bredesen. The Resolution created a committee which has as its charge to:
* Communicate the resolution to the legislatures of the several states,
* Assure them that this State continues in the same esteem of their friendship,
* Call for a joint working group between the states to enumerate the abuses of authority by the federal government, and
* Seek repeal of the assumption of powers and the imposed mandates.
It is for those purposes that this letter addresses your honorable body….
There are clear limits to the power of the federal government and clear realms of power for the states. However, the simple and clear expression of purpose, to secure our natural rights, has evolved into the modern expectation that the national government has an obligation to ensure our life, to create our liberty, and fund our pursuit of happiness.
The national government has become a complex system of programs whose purposes lie outside of the responsibilities of the enumerated powers and of securing our natural rights; programs that benefit some while others must pay…..
The role of our American government has been blurred, bent, and breached. The rights endowed to us by our creator must be restored.
To be sure, the People created the federal government to be their agent for certain enumerated purposes only. The Constitutional ratifying structure was created so it would be clear that it was the People, and not the States, that were doing the ratifying.
The Tenth Amendment defines the total scope of federal power as being that which has been delegated by the people to the federal government, and also that which is absolutely necessary to advancing those powers specifically enumerated in the Constitution of the United States. The rest is to be handled by the state governments, or locally, by the people themselves.
The Constitution does not include a congressional power to override state laws. It does not give the judicial branch unlimited jurisdiction over all matters. It does not provide Congress with the power to legislate over everything. This is verified by the simple fact that attempts to make these principles part of the Constitution were soundly rejected by its signers.
With this in mind, any federal attempt to legislate beyond the Constitutional limits of Congress’ authority is a usurpation of state sovereignty – and unconstitutional.
Governments and political leaders are best held accountable to the will of the people when government is local. The people of a state know what is best for them; authorities, potentially thousands of miles away, governing their lives is opposed to the very notion of freedom.
We invite your state to join with us to form a joint working group between the states to enumerate the abuses of authority by the federal government and to seek repeal of the assumption of powers and the imposed mandates…..”
http://www.tenthamendmentcenter.com/2009/10/20/they-cant-push-us-around-forever/
Okay Boy and Girls, those who are in the USA that is, it is time to kick your State Legislatures in the rumpus and get those State Sovereignty Resolutions passed. There is a turf war building and we need to take advantage of it. If we can not kill Cap and Trade at Copenhagen, if we can’t kill it in the US Senate, we CAN kill it on a state level state by state just as Real ID was killed .

All I said was WOW!!

Climategate – Why no CTV News coverage?
Hello –
There is no end of coverage on Common Wealth climate change conference, bears eating cubs due to lack of Arctic ice and upcoming Copenhagen conference on CTV news.
However, there is just the sound of crickets when it comes to Climategate CTV news coverage.
Amazingly, Tiger Wood’s recent issues seem to be more important to CTV News than Climategate.
Why is there NO coverage on CTV news on the junk, fraudulent science that forms the basis for climate change treaties dubbed “Climategate”?
Surely CTV news must be interested in covering fraud and government waste in the trillions of dollars, or am off base?
“Climategate” has surpassed “Climate warming” on Google searches – CTV risks becoming irrelevant if it continues to ignore mainstream stories.
Please use this link – http://www.google.com and type in “Climategate” for more information or use this link for in depth coverage.

Kevin (11:47:37) :Said
“You guys really hurt your credibility when you go on about Gore — almost as bad as Climate Progress….
First Gore is not a scientist. He is a politician and a traitor to boot. No I am serious he is a traitor.
A Traitor: a person who is guilty of treason or treachery, in betraying friends, country, a cause or trust; a member of a clandestine subversive organization who tries to help a potential invader.
Vice President Al Gore swore this oath.
“I do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; that I take this obligation freely, without any mental reservation or purpose of evasion; and that I will well and faithfully discharge the duties of the office on which I am about to enter: So help me God.”
No wher in the Constitution does it say the VP has the authority to hand control of the US government over to a foreign organization or power. Yet he is actively working to undermine US sovereignty and promote “Global Governance”
The really interesting bit is how rank and file Political Activists are being controlled. It started with The ‘Innocents’ Clubs’: http://www.heretical.com/miscella/munzen.html
“…During the 1920’s and most of the 1930’s Münzenberg played a leading role in the Comintern, Lenin’s front for world-wide co-ordination of the left under Russian control. Under Münzenberg’s direction, hundreds of groups, committees and publications cynically used and manipulated the devout radicals of the West….Most of this army of workers in what Münzenberg called ‘Innocents’ Clubs’ had no idea they were working for Stalin. They were led to believe that they were advancing the cause of a sort of socialist humanism. The descendents of the ‘Innocents’ Clubs’ are still hard at work in our universities and colleges. Every year a new cohort of impressionable students join groups like the Anti-Nazi League believing them to be benign opponents of oppression…”
Maurice Strong, Father of Global Warming, added a new twist to the ‘Innocents’ Clubs’. Strong’s early work with YMCA international “…may have been the genesis of Strong’s realization that NGOs (non-government organizations) provide an excellent way to use NGOs to couple the money from philanthropists and business with the objectives of government.” http://sovereignty.net/p/sd/strong.html
Very few of even the larger international NGOs are operationally democratic, in the sense that members elect officers or direct policy on particular issues,” notes Peter Spiro. “Arguably it is more often money than membership that determines influence, and money more often represents the support of centralized elites, such as major foundations, than of the grass roots.” The CGG has benefited substantially from the largesse of the MacArthur, Carnegie, and Ford Foundations. http://www.afn.org/~govern/strong.html
President Clinton took the NGOs even further. By Presidential Executive Order the USA was divided into ten regions. These regions are governed by an unholy mix of unelected government bureaucrats and NGOs. The regions were set up by President Nixon but implementing “regional governance concept began in earnest with the Clinton-Gore administration. “On the heels of the President’s Council on Sustainable Development , came the President’s Community Empowerment Board, chaired by Vice President Al Gore,” http://www.rense.com/general63/ree.htm These quasi-governmental regional authorities are slowly transforming the US from representative government to government by United Nations sponsored and directed NGOs and appointed bureaucrats.
Al Gore is actively treading a course of treason. Copenhagen is just another step towards his goal of overthrowing the government of the USA and replacing it with the United Nations.

I truly hope the planned Copenhagen carbon tax treaty, the corner stone NWO administation tax, will not now occur.
It was the privately owned international banking cartel led by Rothschild via the World Bank and IMF who were funding the global warming research because they saw a way to get the world’s sheep to accept a new world administrative tax by cloaking it as a save the earth measure.

It is just me or Gore has an evil looking smile on the pic at the beggining of this post? “Mouah ha ha ha haaaa.. I got all you bastards in my net of lies” he seems to be thinking.

The Copenhagen Conference will take a big hit on credibility but many people are easily deceived. Al Gore has his fans who will believe what he says instead of thinking for themselves. Gore is also a big polluter of the environment and exaggerates global warming causes. But didn’t he invent the internet?

Here is an interesting link to an iceagenow article:
http://www.iceagenow.com/Climate_Change_Fraud.htm
Maybe one day we will live in a world where people with higher knowledge no longer prey on the less educated people of our society, and no longer scheme to invent new ways to transfer these poor people’s wealth into their pockets.
We might even hope to live in an utopian world where the word “fraud” no longer has usage or meaning! Just imagine. However, I see two possibilities for this happening.
One: We end up really living in a world where there are no more scheming and defrauding individuals, or two: We end up living in a world where fraud is so widespread, the usage of the word fraud becomes redundant, because practically every law and institution and tax is tainted with it.
I still hope for option one: No more scheming and defrauding individuals.
I also believe in Santa Claus.

On Dave replying to Kevin (11:47:37) :
Dave (12:43:09) :
“I recognize what you are saying, but this is being done in the context of there being a lack of coverage in the media of climategate. I agree I wouldn’t spend too much time on Gore, Obama, etc., but it is relevant in talking about the wider topic of media coverage (or lack thereof).”
Some of us are using the same tactics as those on the extreme left — turning the use of Alinsky’s Rules for Radicals against them. Two in particular apply here.
Rule #5 — “Ridicule is man’s most potent weapon.”
Rule #12 — “Pick the target, freeze it, personalize it, and polarize it.”
There is no arguing that Gore is perhaps the easiest target, as poster-child and waterboy for the AGW movement. His sci-fi comedy “An Inconvenient Truth”, subsequent Oscar and Nobel Peace Prize awards and inexcusable use of “The Science Is Setteled” and “The Debate Is Over” mantras make him particularly vulnerable and are at the heart of the topic at hand –the complete and utter lack of coverage by the MSM. The MSM has been coopted by the extreme left. What better way than to expose them for allowing him unquestioned exposure in the media? The more he is made a fool, the more they look foolish for using that tool?

“Harold Blue Tooth (Viking not phone) (19:06:05) :
were the emails hacked??
what a let down for some if it turns out the were legally, or, not illegally, let out”
I found this:
http://wattsupwiththat.com/2009/11/23/t … planation/
Quote:
There’s an old adage, never assume malice when stupidity or incompetence will explain it.
A short time ago there was a previous leak of CRU data by an insider. In this case, Steve McIntyre acquired station data which he had been requesting for years, but someone inside CRU unofficially made the data available.
In this case, many commentators had various guesses as to the motivation or identity of the disgruntled mole even proposing that perhaps a disgruntled William Connelly was the perpetrator.
Of course it turned out the Phil Jones, director of CRU, himself had inadvertently left the data on an open FTP server.
Many have begun to think that the zip archive FOI2009.zip was prepared internally by CRU in response to Steve McIntyre’s FOI requests, in parallel with attempts to deny the request in case the ability to refuse was lost. There are many reasons to think this is valid and it is consistent with either of the two theories at the beginning of this post. Steve McIntyre’s FOI appeal was denied on November 13th and the last of the emails in the archive is from November 12th.
It would take a hacker massive amounts of work to parse through decades of emails and files but stealing or acquiring a single file is a distinct possibility and does not require massive conspiracy. The same constraints of time and effort would apply to any internal whistle blower. However, an ongoing process of internally collating this information for an FOI response is entirely consistent with what we find in the file.
In the past I have worked at organizations where the computer network grew organically in a disorganized fashion over time. Security policies often fail as users take advantage of shortcuts to simplify their day to day activities. One of these shortcuts is to share files using an FTP server. Casual shortcuts in these instances may lead to gaping security holes. This is not necessarily intentional, but a consequence of human nature to take a shortcut here and there. This casual internal sharing can also lead to unintentional sharing of files with the rest of the Internet as noted in the Phil Jones, CRU mole, example above. Often the FTP server for an organization may also be the organization’s external web server as the two functions are often combined on the same CPU or hardware box. When this occurs, if the organization does not lock down their network thoroughly, the security breaches which could happen by accident are far more likely to occur.
Since Friday November 20th a few users noticed this interesting notice on the CRU website.
This website is currently being served from the CRU Emergency Webserver.
Some pages may be out of date.
Normal service will be resumed as soon as possible.
Here is a screen grab for posterity.
CRU embergency webserver notice
So as part of the security crackdown at CRU they have taken down their external webserver? Network security professionals in the audience will be spitting up coffee all over their keyboards at this point.
So this is my theory is and this is only my theory:
A few people inside CRU possessed the archive of documents being held in reserve in case the FOI appeal decision was made in favor of Steve McIntyre. They shared it with others by putting it in an FTP directory which was on the same CPU as the external webserver, or even worse, was an on a shared drive somewhere to which the webserver had permissions to access. In other words, if you knew where to look, it was publicly available. Then, along comes our “hackers” who happened to find it, download it, and the rest is history unfolding before our eyes. So much for the cries of sophisticated hacking and victimization noted above.
If I had to bet money, I would guess that David Palmer, Information Policy & Compliance Manager, University of East Anglia, has an even chance of being the guilty party, but it would only be a guess.
To repeat the basic premise of this theory.
There’s an old adage, never assume malice when stupidity or incompetence will explain it.

BBC Radio Debate: Well I listen to BBC Radio but have never been a fan of BBC Five Live and that travesty (can I use that word now?) of a debate hasn’t changed my view.
When we hear it discussed on the station for more serious-minded thinkers, Radio 4, then we might be getting somewhere.
I don’t think Phil Thornhill covered himself in glory exactly – he was ranting. Monckton was dignified, as usual, but could hardly get a word in. The “chairman” talked over him and allowed everyone else to talk over him.

Gail Combs (17:29:38) — thanks for your reply. You sort of make my point — and I mean no disrespect — but going on about conspiracy theories and such make you folks look like the equivalent of the youngsters who protest trade talks — interesting, yes. Entertaining, yes. But someone to guide policy? No thanks. If I want a valid scientific opinion on anything, I’m not going to believe anyone who’s view of reality on some more basic issues is so disconnected from what I see.
If you wonder why the MSM isn’t covering this, it isn’t because of a conspiracy, it is because your side gets sidetracked by all this other “stuff.” And for the folks doing real science, it would be to your advantage to try to step away from the conspiracy/algore/socialist line of attack as quickly as possible.
Now I’ll take cover and await the shells which are sure to come my way.

I have been saying since the day they announced this global warming scam that it was just a natural cycle. I said man has no effect on Mother Nature at all. It is like taking a picture of a sandy beach scene, and ask someone to remove one grain of sand from the beach where there are 9999999×10 to the tenth power of 99999 Trillion grains of sand, and then ask if you see any difference to the beach scene. The global warming scam has grown so large by Al Gore who made 10-Million Dollars plus a Nobel Political Prize and no one can ever question this scam theory without being considered one of those people who say the world is round, and not flat.
Now we know for a fact that the global warming is a scam, and I can say I was right it was a scam. However you still have leftist who still plan on forward with the hoax even after they were exposed. Makes you wonder if the entire global warming scam was created for the sole reason to stop capitalism, and mans progress. The same thing happen back in the dark ages where people were arguing saying the world is flat. Maybe Al Gore and all the Obama global leftist communist global warming nuts can jump on a ship, and sail off the edge of their flat planet.

Helloooooooo Gail !!!??
Have you checked the date recently?
Reply:
Yes I have. I used that as a quick example instead of several pages showing how corrupted the news media is. For example the actual reason for the Kent State riots in the seventies was never published because Vietnam vets being denied the right to vote would have caused an outrage against the government. That is why the MSM showed film footage of riots at Purdue University nationwide that was faked. There were no riots not even any gatherings of students during that time period. I and close friends have been witnesses to a lot more besides those two incidences. Heck my father in law owns a newspaper and I grew up with the Gannetts.
Money owns the news, money owns the government and money owns the political activists even though they do not know it.
Who the heck is JBS by the way???

I believe Gore ducked out of Copenhagen so he could direct his attention to Washington. Or at least, that’s the impression I got from a Times article – Gore puts pressure on Obama.
I don’t often read the Times, but picked one up in the library to pass the time. Apparently they are running a countdown to Copenhagen series. The whole article seems to have been a verbatim report of Gore, interspersed with the phrase “he said.” I didn’t actually read the whole article, but I noticed that each paragraph began with the words “He said.”
The way this paper is fawning over this man is incredible. Even more incredible, is that he even outranks James Hansen. Unbelievable, yet there it was in black and white. The typist (I would not use the term reporter) wrote that James Hansen disagrees with Gore’s support of Copenhagen, but since Hansen isn’t allowed to comment, all the reader gets is Gore’s take on it.
And where was the climategate issue? I found it in the last paragraph. Some skeptics believe, apparently, that the stolen emails suggest the science is wrong. Again, the only person allowed to comment is – you guessed it – Gore. You would not be wrong if you guessed his take was something along the lines that this event is the last gasp of the deniers and their non reality.
So there I saw how far has fallen a once mighty newspaper.

“Soros-Obama-Strong have been retained by OCTOpus to destroy America financially, morally and legislatively. SES was created in 1979 to enable the destruction of America from the ‘inside-out’ by placing corrupt political ‘boobs’ above legitimate authority in agencies across the breadth of our bureaucracies. I was watching a YouTube vid where the leader of American Progress used the ‘evidence’ of increased acreage burn by wildfire as a proof of global warming. How about increased acreage burn wildfire caused by arsen? Angeles national forrest this last early fall was a result of arsen and fire cos delayed response. Fires in the Mtns of San Diego in 04 were a result of arsen and accident where the fires started were both remote. Additionally, a number or recent southern CA fires were arsen related. I would imagine that since those trees no longer exist and no longer absorb CO2, then there would be an increase, not the other way around.

Discussions on any of the BBC talk stations in the UK are always conducted like that. Shouting and talking over the interviewee are the norm, even on Radio 4, supposedly the flagship, intellectual , heavyweight politics and arts channel. The interviewee barely gets to the first verb in the first sentence of a reply to a question from the interviewer before the interviewer interrupts to criticise and ask another question.
The BBC interviewers always take the view that they can do the job the interviewee is doing far better than the interviewee can and that this is their chance to prove it. The objective is never to ask questions for the interviewee to answer so that the audience can hear and perhaps understand the interviewee’s position or point of view.
Our Canadian friend is right, the standard of science and the debate about it is appalling in the UK.
