Tee shirts have some potential, but it come down to what’s on the shirt, i.e. the logo/design and that’s really hard to do right. Also, jackets, sweatshirts, gloves, ear warmers, snow shovels, ice scrapers, etc., might be more appropriate than tee shirts…

leveraging some Search Engine Optimization (SEO) on WUPT, adding an archive tab at the top that leads to a solid indexing/archiving/search tool page and issuing a press release that includes a good quote from Anthony, along with several other respected scientists and encourages users to check out the website, might be the best use of our time and resources. I’ll take care of Goggle News by posting their link in a forthcoming thread and encouraging readers to submit WUWT. I will also put together a list SEO suggestions when I have time and will submit a draft press release when the time comes for that.

I think an ad at the top of Drudge’s and Yahoo’s front page is a must too! I’ve got some money just burning a hole in my pocket waiting to go toward that!

Also, there should probably be a better archiving system for WUWT, so that it would be easier to find old threads and so all of the threads would be accessible by the search engines. I think transparency is important and there is some very good information captured in many of these threads, which should be made easily accessible for interested parties.

In short bad news sells. Case in point:
AGW~ism
Uninformed Environmentalism (IMO most of the rational (lac) behind buying a hybrid car)
Socialist gov’t policies
Economies (greatly infuences consumer sentiment)
Swine FLU hysteria ( Nancy Grace\Geraldo reporting)
Polarization of U.S. politics (us v. them reporting as if politics were a team sport)
Recent rash of Family-cides (seriously is this NATIONAL news? Why promote it other than for shock value?)

No the “media” is not responsible for100% of the above, but IMO the influence in undeniable.

The point is so much power and influence in the hands of the few is NEVER OK, has proven to be dangerous, and will continue to be dangerous. One of the few democratizers of the mainstream media is the internet and the forum that it brings to opposing viewpoints. The problem is also the forum that the internet brings to EVERYONE and can be hard to sift through the static. SO….

Please support respectable sites that promote real actual sensible discussion.

I wend Joe Rommer’s blog and managed to read as long as 14 seconds of time.
I am not a scientific myself, but I need to develop a scientific attitude : I swear I will try to make an effort to probably manage to read a bit of it 14 more seconds. I swear.

Now, as a W = 2U, in order to save energy, so in order to save the world from thermagedon, every commenter and also you Anthony should write “5UT” instead of WUWT.

Or, if you really want to meet his stated requirement, publish the stats rounded to one significant digit, making Aprils 2 million pages views higher than March’s 1 million.

The stats count simply does not begin to account for the length of time spent on each page. I doubt Joe Romm scratches the surface there.

Anthony, I view your site regularly now and find the level of data provided (as well as the depth of analysis) to be refreshing. I also find the above referenced quote to be both sadly humorous and an excellent example of what passes for analytical review on the topic of Climate change.

It seems endemic among those who support the AGW that they disregard the actual content of the report they choose to criticize to get to the conclusion they wish to reach. Mr. Romm finds fault with your data presentation…which requires that he completely ignore both that you listed how your data was collected and that you explicitly stated the purpose for showing your data in that format. He had to ignore the caveats you posted to criticize you for not giving caveats. Truly amazing.

This is truly a wonderful scientific site – the stats are wholly reflective of your tireless efforts and especially the way you run the blog together with the outstanding support of the, also tireless, moderators.

Equally I would like to single out Dr Leif Svalgaard who shows immeasurable patience in dealing with my rather naive questions and as a result (even in my later years) has taught me more than he will ever know.
