Catlin Arctic Survey website recycles biotelemetry data?

UPDATES WE HAVE UPDATES: 8 updates to this story have been posted – see below the “read the rest of this entry” line. It appears most if not all of the technology in the expedition has failed early on and the Catlin website never made any mention of this fact until a BBC article appeared today. They have disclaimers up now on the Catlin website, and the flat XML data file used to feed the biometrics page has been removed from the web page developers website.

Something quite odd is going on at the Catlin Arctic Survey website at: http://www.catlinarcticsurvey.com/

It appears that they are presenting recycled data from the biotelemetry sensors on the team. The “live from the ice” biotelemetry data for each team member is presented here:

When the data loads,

Pen Hadow core temp starts at 33.25 C every time the page loads, then increments up to 33.57, 33.64, 33.7, 33.75

every time, I have refreshed, cleared temp files and rebooted — still the same

White House Science Advisor Holdren suggests “climate engineering with particulates”

Here’s an excerpt of an AP story posted on Brietbart by President Obama’s science advisor, John Holdren, suggesting putting particulate matter into the air to reflect sunlight.

Polar Ice Worries – North and South

Norway’s foreign minister, Jonas Gahr Stoere, painted a stark picture of the climate change in the Arctic and Antarctic regions. “The ice is melting,” Stoere said. “We should all be worried.”

According to the University of Illinois, Antarctic sea ice area is nearly 30% above normal and the anomaly has reached 1,000,000 km2.  You could almost fit Texas and California (or 250 Rhode Islands) inside Antarctica’s excess sea ice.

According to NSIDC, over the last 30 years Antarctic sea ice extent has been growing at a rate of nearly 5% per decade, and set a record maximum last year.

And as you can see in the NSIDC image below, some Emperor Penguins have an extra long walk to their nesting ground – due to excess ice in the Weddell Sea and around West Antarctica. Read the rest of this entry »
